I think I have everyone that has given me their expected location for Friday night. If anyone else wants to add their info please send me a PM and I will get it added. Who know we might find a way to meet up the night before.

Can anyone tell me how dinner works? I was looking at the menus on allears, and wondering...do they bring out an appetizer, then a soup/salad/starter, then the entree? What if I don't like any of the appetizers? Can I order soup and a salad instead?

You can order whatever you want off the menu. Sometimes I'll order two appetizers and an entree, no soup or salad. Sometimes dh will order an app, and then a soup and a salad. Oldest ds has ordered two entrees (usually duck and lamb if they appear together, or two servings of one of them since I don't make either at home and he loves them both).

In the main dining room-- they're more than happy to bring you what you want. Though we've had servers who will also bring what they think you should want too, and their choices have always been better than mine. Now I just ask, "So what do you suggest?" and most times I'll go with it.:lmao:

Thank you! Sounds great! I was wondering if the servers might pick up on likes and dislikes after a day or two, lol. I have a few quirks where food is concerned, lol (I like ice in my milk and orange juice). I'm not an extremely picky eater, but there are some things I don't care for that seem to be prevalent on the cruise menus (seafood -- I like crab cakes though -- and mushrooms). :rolleyes1

Definitely ask your server for their suggestions. I have never been disappointed when I have done that (which is pretty much every night). You can even order off the kids menu if you would like. It's not like WDW where the adult HAS to order off the adult menu and the kids off the kids menu. Order of any menu you (or your child) wishes too!

I am sure my DS will be ordering off the adult menu this time around....

The servers will often get to know your likes and dislikes. Depends on the server. Our last cruise they got to know us and would bring out our drinks before we even asked.

You mentioned ice in the OJ. If this is a breakfast only thing, and you eat breakfast in the main dining room, the chances are slim that you will have your dinner wait staff. The only meal where you have your assigned servers and table is for dinner.

Thanks! There were some apps on the kids menu I know I'd prefer over the adult choices, lol. I also noticed a few things on the adult menu that I think DD would prefer. It's great to hear there are no limitations. :thumbsup2

Except on one cruise (Wonder 2010) our servers have always ranged from great to over-the top excellent. Drinks on the tables, great suggestions, on our third cruise, when our server (Zan) learned I loved to cook and bake, he was full of very interesting suggestions for me. I ordered some appetizer, and he said, "You won't like it, you know food, but I'll bring it and something better." And his choice was better. Had another server, Simoun, on our TA who did the same thing. After a few days he said to oldest dd, "You think you want that, but you won't like it. I'll bring it anyway and something good." And again, spot on.

Funny thing, the servers I now think are just "great" were amazing, from our first two cruises. It's just that we've had servers we clicked with better after them.

Horrible dilemma facing us (and since this dilemma and not winning Mega-Millions is the biggest issue I'm facing now I'm pretty lucky :thumbsup2) which server to request. Two of our all time favorites will be on the Fantasy (Igor and Simoun), and our favorite head server/dining room manager (Zan), and our fav assistant server (Mickey from the Philippines). Thank goodness another favorite- Laura is now working in administration.

Oldest ds says we should book a back to back to back to back so we can sit with everyone. Unfortunately since we didn't win Mega-Millions, that's out.

Seriously- MDR service is one of the things that I love about DCL versus the other lines I've cruised.

Wondering if there will be a lot of kids on this cruise after checking the room availability.

If I look as 2A/2C there are only a couple categories of verandah rooms and then concierege available. Nothing lower than a 5A.

If I look as only 2A, there are many more options including Cat 8 for Oceanview rooms and pretty much all the verandah categories.

Thoughts? Is it becuase there are already a lot of rooms with 4 people in them and therefore those categories are not available if there are more than 2 people (due to Muster Station limitations?)

I booked my plane ticket this afternoon.:dance3:Has any flown UNITED? i wish that i could have been flying Alaska but they didn't have any red eye flights

We flew with United back in Sept 2011 from Ct. to Vancouver and back for our Alaska cruise and had no problems at all. I wish we could have used Southwest but it didn't work out.
I think it is hit or miss with most of the airlines these days.

Hi gang! Sorry I've been MIA for so long, I've been sick (again!).

Savannah and I watched the Fantasy sail out for the first time yesterday evening. Only 24 more times until it's US! :thumbsup2

So, I have a question. Bibbidy Bobbity Boutique onboard....when can we book it? When paid in full, at 120/90/75 days out?

Thanks!:thumbsup2

Jen :)

I LOVE that you counted the number of sailings until it is us (or did the math) but love that it's a countdown in another manner!

As for BBB on board, from the threads I have read, it seems that you can only book onboard right now. Maybe that will change as we get closer to our sailing (and our PIF date) but from what I have seen so far, people are kind of annoyed that they can't actually make a reservation ahead of time.

Hope you are feeling better!

I'm so excited. Booked our (Me, Mama, and Daddy's) flights today out of Memphis. We are flying in the day before and staying at the Hyatt. We are also planning on staying afterward for some land days after the cruise. We still haven't told the Kiddos, yet.

I've been looking at the gift bags by Shirley. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get one for the boys and one for Kate. I've put a countdown on my phone that reminds me each day that I'm one day closer to my first cruise.

I showed my Mom the fish extenders and she sounds like she wants to do them, but I'll notify the person in charge as soon as I know for sure!!

We've been looking at the menus. I'm excited to try new things, but am very much like a previous poster....I don't like seafood or mushrooms. But, I may feel adventurous once on the ship.

I can't wait!!!

Hey all! There is a post over on our fb Page as well, but I don't know if everyone has joined over there. I am working on a FE gift idea for each cabin, and it would be so much cooler to have last names for each cabin. Some have already given their names over on the fb thread, and I have all of those. If you don't mind sharing, pm me here or nenner1 and we will get theater FE participants list updated with last names. Thanks everyone... I am so excited to start seeing real trip reports from "our" ship and itinerary! :-)

The days are speding by. I've also looked at the menus and i there are some new things that i will be trying. Working on the FE gifts and trying to paint my nails with a minnie mouse theme and my DFB mom is working on my minnie mouse sun dress i don't sew. Hoping that the travel channel will do something about the fantasy now that she is on her MV. I've booked my air and my wdw resort. I can't belive that i get to stay at the new royal guest room over at port orelans riverside. What is ME like i've never used this sevrice before. I think it's cool that i don't have to pick up my bags at baggage claim. Before you know it we will be on the fantasy sailing away to the caribbean.

We liked ME the few times we've used it. We found it really efficient (though the first time, I was a little lost in the airport since we hadn't flown into Orlando for years). You just get to the right terminal, go downstairs, and they put you in line. No need to pick up bags (unless you want them). The longest we waited was in May 2011, about fifteen minutes, then some time on the bus. Buses are nice, they play Disney advertisement type video (about check in, etc) with the characters. The ride is very short because they don't drive on I-4, they use the toll road.

Also looked over the menus on DCL's site. They look a lot like the Dream menus from last year. Has anyone seen menus for Pirate Night, Captain's Gala and whatever the other two will be? Or are we waiting for someone to come off the Maiden voyage to post them?

One thing I didn't like about dining on the Dream, and I guess it'll carry over to the Fantasy-- they didn't do the shows like they did on the Magic. No limbo on Pirate Night, or marching around with Mickey at Animators. One of our favorite things was the last night when the servers would march around with different flags at the end of dinner.

Well, I just watched the Samantha Brown webinar about the Fantasy and I was disappointed. It was obviously filmed a while ago as most of the areas on the ship were still in construction.

I was hoping it was done recently so we could SEE all the parts of the ship (although I know there are many DISboard members that have posted photos).

In any event, it's always fun to see the ship and get more excited for the cruise in 170 days!

Our kids still don't know, and still not sure when we are sharing that news with them!

I watched it on Tuesday, and thought the exact same thing. I was hoping to see more of the ship.
