September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

I was reading this post on Affording the Mouse about refurbishments:

"There are several ongoing and upcoming refurbishments to tell you about. Many of them affect our upcoming trip (boo), but most are not on our “must-do” list, so we’re not too sad. Here’s the list, by park:

Magic Kingdom

Fantasyland construction continues through 2012.
The Enchanted Tiki Room remains closed through 8/15/11.
Frontier Shootin’ Arcade remains closed through 9/30/11.
Casey’s Corner (restaurant) will close 8/30 and re-open on 9/15/11.
The Lunching Pad (restaurant) will close 8/29 and re-open 9/14/11.
The Swiss Family Tree House will close 9/8 through 11/17/11.

Epcot

No reported refurbishments at this time

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Voyage of the Little Mermaid will close on 8/15 and re-open 9/3/11.
The Studio Backlot Tour will be closed 9/4 through 9/24/11.

Animal Kingdom

Primeval Whirl remains closed through 9/14/11.
It’s Tough to Be a Bug will close on 8/15 and remain closed until 9/30/11."

The one that really upsets me is the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse. I made the kids watch that a month or so ago to get them excited for it, and they loved the movie! :headache:

I am just glad that It's A Small World is not closed -the two times we went to a Disney park (DW 2004 and DL 2008) the ride has beem closed for renovations... Not that DH was disappointed... Lol... Told him he is going on i with no matter what :woohoo:

Darn it, The Studio Backlot tour was closed March 2010 when we went and October 2008........now again! argh! this one frustrates me!!!!!!

Where in the world showcase did you have the henna tatoo done???? Also about how much was it and how long did it last???? I really want to do it but we spend a few days in the waterparks and would hate to lose it right away!

i believe morocco, it was in one of the kiosks near the water (not in the actual buildings) it must have been over $25 because i didn't get it last time. they last about a week, maybe longer. it just fades. a water park wouldn't affect it

Reading about the pick-a-pearl experience makes me wonder what I've been missing. In all our trips, we've never done it. Could someone please let me know: What's it like at Epcot? How much does it cost? TIA

Good Morning all. I have been MIA all weekend. Worked about 50 hrs from Fri nt- tues morning. Made some good money though. Made a pmt on this trip and need another good week to get it pd off. Just wanna use my tips, not outta the normal monthly income. Plus I saved for a road trip I am making with some friends. We had fun in Chicago in May so thinking of another road trip!! Well glad the backlot tour will be opening the day after we arrive. So excited I am going to WDW with my NY friends and some of our great friends(from where we live). This trip will prove to have many memories!!!

Ours was paid off but we swithced dates which required more money for airfare. So I worked a bit Monday so I can pay it off next week. Which is when final payment is due. Lucky for me it is only 200.00. I usually don't cut it this close. But we moved the trip up 3 weeks it messed with me. I do have 1/2 of our spending money saved up. So only another 500.00 there which shouldn't be much of a problem.

:woohoo: for great memories! That's a lot of hours, are you sure you're not working my job? :lmao: I worked a 40 hour work week last week, but I am going to work closer to 50 again this week. I'm so ready for September, so I can spend uninterrupted time with the family! 80 days today, woohoo!:yay:

Can't wait to get this vacation started - we're all paid off finally and have our spending money put aside & converted to US$ - thank goodness the dollar is so good right now - I remember when we went back in 2004 - it was $1.25 or $1.30 canadian to get $1 american... now its just about par... :cool1:

Gotta get my tush in gear and make the costumes for MNSSHP - got parts of the girls costumes but need to buy some tuille for the skirts - they are going as tweedle dee & tweedle dum but a little more rocked out look :) black, white & red... just need to find the free time :rotfl:

We'll be staying at All Star Music from Sept 17th to the 23rd. This is my 5 year old son's second trip, and my 2 year old son's 1st trip! We can't wait!

Just finished catching up on all the posts Ive missed. Happy to see everyone had a happy and safe 4th of July weekend!

I just found out my aunt has RCI timeshare and can transfer into the DVC villas and it would only cost me $200 for the week! :woohoo: Needless to say she gave me her log in info to check the site to see if my week opens and I have been doing so a few times a day :rotfl: I doubt something will open up, and I wont be upset if it doesnt, but if it does I am NOT complaining! The silver lining to this story, next year we will def. be using her timeshare! :woohoo:

Ooh, that's good to know! We also have family with RCI and I suspected it could be used for Disney. We'll have to look into it for another trip!

Yikes! Just saw my ticker...we leave in 56 days! I have so much to do!!

I have worked 50 hours the past two weeks and will work 46 plus 8 hours of holiday pay for 4th of July, for my trip. I am TIRED!! but well worth it.

Most of the money I am supposed to be "saving" is going towards stuff for the trip (ok I want to think so but maybe not: shoes, purse, cute clothes I am finding on clearance, etc), so while it isn't being saved it is being used for trip stuff. I have already paid off the room, since it is a room only ressie. We have the AP and will be paying OOP for food so as long as I can save up the money to eat then I will be golden :thumbsup2 LOL!! unless we plan on eating PB&J the whole time......

Just booked for French Quarter Sep 1-5! Excited! Celebrating my sister's high school graduation.

I made our ADRs yesterday. We are going to try to eat just 1 TS meal/day. We'll eat a quick breakfast in the room. Lunch at a table service, since it's OOP and lunch is less expensive than dinner. Supper will either be QS, fast food, or sandwich in the room (I'll probably bring our electric fry pan for grilled cheese for ds).

Day 1 Captain's Grille for a late breakfast

Day 2 Coral Reef for lunch

Day 3 The Plaza Restaurant for lunch

Day 4 ? still deciding

Due to some unlucky timing we had to push our trip back a month and ate now staying at the Pop in October. I hope you all have wonderful September trips!

P.S. Does free dining end at the end of Sept? I was curious because in October I had my pick of all the resorts that I priced out and was able to get fantastic times at all the dining reservations that I wanted just this morning. With my military discount I could only choose from a couple resorts when I was still booked for Sept.

I am so excited this is our 2nd WDW trip and it's a surpise..But it's now less than three months away and I am having trouble keeping it from my DS8 and DS2 (although he doesn't really get it). I have been getting the ..mom why r u reading disney books?? Lmao...mom why did u buy a suitcase? I swear he hasn't put it together yet, but he might soon! I am 28 and DH is 31. So excited!!!!

to the thread! What are your dates and where are you staying? I'd love to be able to add you to the first post!

We are arriving September 23rd and staying until the 28th at ASM!

Thank you!! :ccat: I can't wait!!!

Sorry if this has already been asked...has anyone found a good deal on a car rental in September? I know many of you are not renting cars, but I'm sure some are. It seems like all the current deals (mousesavers, travelzoo, etc) only are valid through the end of July. I remember booking my car rentals with coupon codes a few months in advance on previous trips...and so far it's looking like my best bet is waiting a little bit.

I am renting a car but not until I leave disney which is the 28th of September. I got it on hotwire and it was $150 for 9/28-10-3. So not bad.
