September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

Due to some unlucky timing we had to push our trip back a month and ate now staying at the Pop in October. I hope you all have wonderful September trips!

P.S. Does free dining end at the end of Sept? I was curious because in October I had my pick of all the resorts that I priced out and was able to get fantastic times at all the dining reservations that I wanted just this morning. With my military discount I could only choose from a couple resorts when I was still booked for Sept.

So sad to see you go! I hope you have an amazing trip in October, though! :goodvibes

We'll be staying at All Star Music from Sept 17th to the 23rd. This is my 5 year old son's second trip, and my 2 year old son's 1st trip! We can't wait!

Just got back from Sam's where I purchased the Disney gift cards to pay off my balance. You should have seen the teller's eyes when I handed her 14$100 cards. She agreed it was a great idea. (Thank you Disboards:worship:) I saved $16 off the face value PLUS got 14 $10 bonus cards to shop the Disney store. SWEET!

and while I am bragging...70 days! Excuse me while I dance :banana::banana:

I must have missed Disney gift cards at Sam's? They sell gift cards for Disney, really? And you get $10 for every $100 you buy? I need to hit Sam's!:lmao:

These were introduced last year for Christmas and have a winter motif. From what I have seen on the Dis, some stores have them still and others are sold out. The $10 bonus card cam only be used at Disney stores or disney store.com and not on WDW property. Good luck! I hope you find them.

Reading about the pick-a-pearl experience makes me wonder what I've been missing. In all our trips, we've never done it. Could someone please let me know: What's it like at Epcot? How much does it cost? TIA

I have done this on every trip and I LOVE it!!! You go in the store in Japan. There is a large case with oysters. First you pay at the register. It is around $16 with tax if I remember correctly. Then you chose your oyster. I've heard the uglier the better...

They make a BIG deal out of opening it. Counting down in Japanese, etc. SO fun!!! Then they measure it and will bang on a drum and celebrate your pearl. You can have it put in a piece of jewelry there. A lot of people bring a cage and put it in there themselves. You can get really cute Cinderella carriage cages on a chain on Ebay. :thumbsup2 I will upload some pictures to photobucket, and share them in a bit. :)

Choosing which oysters we wanted...

As you can see people gather all around to watch. Very fun!

The lady working taught my daughter how to bow and countdown in Japanese. Here we are checking out the pearl...

They sounded the drum declaring she had chosen a "really big pearl"

Then they put it in a little bag and mark how big it was. My daughter's was a gorgeous pink color!

I hope that helps Disneychic2! :) You can search the boards for the exact price...I'm sure it is on here somewhere. :thumbsup2

Thanks so much! And the pictures are fantastic and really seem to capture the experience! Looks like something we will be doing come September for sure. :thumbsup2

Just wanted to let everyone know that they opened up Chef Mickey lunches for August/September! My plans are now finally done! We will be eating at Chef Mickeys at 4:15 right before MNSSHP! :woohoo::woohoo:

You made my day (and altered my lunch plans for MNSSHP!)! I was hoping for this one to open up, I'm so excited that they have!:woohoo: We'll be there right before you, we're scheduled at 4:00 as of right now. I had to log in this morning to update my siggie; today my oldest DD is 14. :scared1: I can't believe how fast she has grown up on me!

Awesome! :woohoo:

Happy Birthday!!

I second this! :bday: to your daughter silylily!

Just finished catching up on all the posts Ive missed. Happy to see everyone had a happy and safe 4th of July weekend!

I just found out my aunt has RCI timeshare and can transfer into the DVC villas and it would only cost me $200 for the week! :woohoo: Needless to say she gave me her log in info to check the site to see if my week opens and I have been doing so a few times a day :rotfl: I doubt something will open up, and I wont be upset if it doesnt, but if it does I am NOT complaining! The silver lining to this story, next year we will def. be using her timeshare! :woohoo:

Can you help me understand how this works? My mom has an RCI for Las Vegas but we've never figured out how to use it for a Disney Villa and their website is confusing to navigate!

is Chef Mickey's good? I am really tempted to upgrade to plus dining - means we lose our refill cup and a snack but might save us on the table service if we do enough - can you use the table service for quick service meals? incase we don't want to do them all
