September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

Hallelujah! Must share though totally off topic....it's raining!!!!! We have been in a major drought and even a small shower makes me HAPPY!!!! (The grass and wildlife too!)

Woot, that's awesome news! We're in massive drought as well, and in the words of Luke Bryan, rain is a good thing. I wouldn't mind getting some of that.

The DDs and I have started taking nightly walks, mainly so Sommer can build up her stamina. I don't think she has much to worry about; we walked two miles this evening and she was dancing in the driveway when we arrived back!:rotfl2: Pretty good, considering it's 91 degrees right now with 48% humidity. It's not going to be hotter than that at WDW, right? (hoping, hoping, hoping!):rolleyes1 She told me tonight her biggest problem with WDW is that it kept her from going to Carowinds for one last hurrah late in the summer, since we have been saving like crazy. I think she's going to be shocked by how much there is to do once she gets there!:yay:

When we drop our bags off (wherever that may be...we are driving, so do we drop bags in the actual port or curbside or somewhere else?), when or how would you tip someone? At the time you drop your bags off?

We drove to the port one time with friends and when you leave your bags on the curb(before parking),you turn them over to porter whom we tip for handling our bags. Hope that clarified it.

At least it will be clean when we get home. I'm also thinking about all the Fall craziness that will hit us when we get home and trying to plan for it ahead of time. Last year we got slammed with activities and making up things we had missed.

I am afraid to think about all the fall craziness I'll be coming back to after vacation! I just need to make sure that I get my ducks in a line before we go, otherwise the craziness will start sooner than later!!

JEALOUS!! ;) We would love to go next year but we would be really stretching ourselves and probably not being too fiscally responsible...so 2013 it is!.

Same here, gotta get the other car paid off, some work done on the house, and maybe start saving for a wedding!

No you are not crazy.:) I am really looking forward to time around the pool. Every other time we went we never got enough relax time. so this time we promised each other (DH and I) we would make sure we had time to sit by the pool and relax...with a :drinking1
As for the food, can't really comment since it is always a challenge for me. Lactose and gluten intolerant because of an illness.
However, this time I'm kind of looking forward to it since, I am more comfortable letting "chefs" know about this and I am more willing to speak up if there is an issue. After all I don't want to ruin my trip because I drank or ate something I shouldn't.

Donna, downtime is something that we really have to make an effort toward at WDW too! But we're gonna make a go of it! I also have a number of food allergies-dairy,beef, and eggs-and you should never feel like you're inconveniencing anyone just to make sure you are accommodated! This is your vacation and you deserve to eat what you want! One of the reasons we go back to Disney again and again is because of how great they are and how accommodating they really are! I've always had just great chefs, and even enjoyed rice dream non dairy dessert (rice based ice cream if you will) at the Main Street Ice Cream Parlor--all I had to do was ask! A manager promptly made sure a clean area was secured to serve it up and it was so MAGICAL! I simply cannot wait to go to Babycakes bakery in DTD. I have never in my life been able to purchase any baked goods for myself due to my allergies and will get to on this trip! I can't wait for a cupcake there!! So speak up and enjoy!!

I just have to say it..... I just have to........

WE LEAVE FOR WDW 2 WEEKS FROM TODAY!!!!

For those looking forward to buying their childrens first pair of ears, i thought i would share one of my favorite pictures of DS in his pumpkin ears!

Last year we did a halloween style for our family ears. I bought mickey as frankenstein for my ears, DH bought the pirate hat and DS bought the mickey pumpkin ears as you can see! Cant wait to see what we decide on this year!!

aww - those are so cute - there are a lot of first timers in our group - I can't wait to get them theirs... so special

I feel totally lueless about threads, discussions, etc, so I will just jump in with my question. We are going to DW in July. It will be me, DH and DD. Our friends are also going and there are four of them. We want to do DW for 4 days and Sea World for two days. We want to stay at Pop Century. Can we do this even though we are not going to DW all the nights we are there? Will we need to stay at a diff. resort? What about meal plan, as we would love to do that for the days we do DW. I know these have probably been addressed about a thousand times, but I can't find them. Also, are we better off getting on nice suite or two value rooms? Thanks!

Your meal plan question, I believe is do you have to purchase the meal plan for as many nights as you'll be at the resort, even though you won't be at a Disney park each day. The answer is yes, you'll be required to purchase the meal plan for your entire length of stay (based on nights, not days). But the good news is, you can double up your TS meals and go to some great restaurants that require 2 dinning credits.

As far as the two rooms vs the suite, popular opinion is that it is actually cheaper to get two connecting rooms rather than a suite. I have never priced it out myself, but that is the popular consensus. Have fun planning and have a wonderful trip!

I was told by DH that this would be the last of Disney for a few years :sad1: but he also didn't want to go on this one but did to keep me quiet (he has had a lot of expensive projects this year). Hopefully he will have so much fun he will change his mind.

Isn't it the Disney way to plan next trip before you are done with the current one? :confused3

ADR's:
08/31 11:20 harmony barbers for dd1's first haircut
1:05 crystal palace
09/01 8:30 the wave (for the lime eggs benedict)
12:45 via Napoli
09/02 11:40 50's prime time
6:45 garden grove
09/04 8:40 le cellier (5th anniversary dinner):lovestruc

I love that your dd's first haircut will be at the harmony barbers! Please post pics in your trip report!!

I actually got it at the store I work at... Meijer. However, I did a web search and found lots of other places (including amazon) that carry it.

It is called circle of friends.... and I was wrong about the diameter...its 18 not 16.

Thanks! And btw, love your drawing of Cindy! You nailed the eyes for sure!:thumbsup2

Please tell me that I'm not crazy (or that I totally am): my DD goes to sleep kind of roughly if we're in the same room as her. I had the idea to take 2 command hooks (the removable, leave-no-residue kind), some string, clothespins and a queen sized sheet from home and create a curtain wall between her pack 'n' play and our bed in our room. I don't need it to block out light or anything, just act as a screen so she doesn't see us.

Is this crazy? I can't imagine what mousekeeping will think when they walk in! :rotfl:

Mousekeeping has seen it all I'm sure! I don't think they'll blink an eye at what you have in mind. I think it's rather genius actually. Maybe you could take a ribbon or twine or something and gather it up and away to make MK's job a bit easier. Then you won't have to fuss about taking it down and putting it back up.;)

2 days left. Hopefully we will get there. I did check SW sight this am and they were re scheduling flights out of and into Norfolk but nothing else has been affected. So I'm guessing we are just gonig to fly inland around the storm. I really hope this is the case.

Right now there is a bounceback in the room for FD for next year so I'm hoping to book when we get there. We are going to do 12 days next year.

First of all, saying a prayer for you and the flight and all.:good vibes It's got to be nerve racking, but you'll be fine since most everyone on this thread is sending pixie dust your way!pixiedust: Have a fantastic time and don't forget to check in with us when you get back!:dance3:

And I didn't know the BB was for free dining. That's pretty cool!

Hallelujah! Must share though totally off topic....it's raining!!!!! We have been in a major drought and even a small shower makes me HAPPY!!!! (The grass and wildlife too!)

My sister lives in Flower Mound and they need rain too. You guys have been in the triple digit temps for some time now, right? My sister's AC went out a couple of weeks ago.:scared1: In that weather it's a necessity, not a luxury! Hope you get more rain soon.

Just when I thought I was done with ADRs but brother decides hes definitley coming :headache: Now we booked in January and hes been on the fence since then, but luckily I made the majority of our ADRs including him figuring if we were 1 less it wouldnt be as much of a problem as if we needed 1 more. I had to lose my Boma ressie which I am really upset over but Id rather know we have the correct number of people on the ADR than be turned away. I will keep trying but we are going to eat at San Angel Inn now instead. Boo!

On the plus side only 29 days  We're slowly getting there!

What a great idea to book as though your brother was coming all along! :thumbsup2 That's a tip I'll tuck away. Sorry about Boma. We love it too!

These pics are adorable! I love the halloween style for the ears idea! Also, I just love the name Logan!

I have a question: Is everyone planning to do a trip report? I've never done one and am nervous about it. I'm learning how to post pictures with my new laptop, so hopefully I'll be able to at least do that. I guess if I read a few TR I'll feel better about it.

That being said....only 13 days until we're at Disney!! I've started packing a little. I love to draw out the anticipation and this thread has really helped do that. I'm glad we all have a place to come to where everyone feels the same about Disney and shares each others' joys as well as disappointments. Thanks everyone for making this trip planning the best ever!:goodvibes

Ugh my ticker seems to be stuck! It should be at 4 weeks today. :confused3 I guess I need to remake it. Sigh...Tink is almost to the end! Oh well...I guess she will be able to fly to the end super fast this way.

I am so excited for all of us that our vacations are SO close! :goodvibes According to the first post, two people have already started their vacations. Isn't that crazy?! Another is supposed to leave today then another two tomorrow. KELLY's trip starts tomorrow!!! :yay:

What do all of you have left to do? I'm 12 days out and have a lot of shopping to do this weekend and next week. I have a whole list. I'm not a huge shopping person, so I'm torn on if I'm excited to go or not. I'm excited because it has to do with Disney, but its exhausting and costs too much money. :rotfl: I'm also hoping to get a later ADR for 'Ohanas, but I'm not holding my breath on that one. My binder is all organized, but I have to print off my itinerary to stick in there before we go. I'm shocked at how much information I feel like I'm going to need while we're there.
