Docs? Now tell me, what is it you are really wanting in your docs that you don't already know or haven't already filled out online since DCL finally got their act together and we can now do it beforehand?

I usually was filling out those things on the airplane or in the car on the way to the port. Here honey....sign this.......give me your credit card..............you know, that kind of stuff!

Linda

Luggage tags. We are taking the bus to the port and don't want to have to get our bags at baggage claim. Otherwise, everything's printed and ready to go! Also we don't have the Bahamas immigration form online (for the stop at CC).

Thanks for the reminder Linda. Just filled everything out, printed and signed.
Now, all I have to do is start packing. :cool1:

I didn't look at the link, but I remember them talking about this a few years ago. Some people thought they were moons of pluto- some thought they were planets.....it will be interesting as our technology improves, how our perception of the solar sytem will change as well.

I just read this article this AM, and it is indeed fascinating... and at the same time controversial. I almost view this as a deliberately obscene proposal by the IAU simply because of the attention and pregnant conversation it gives rise to. I say the new additions almost demand a reclassification or 2nd "grouping". My selfish 80s thinking sez we should retain a "classical" count of 9 and add a "new order" defintion with the 50-300 (or more) eventual planteoid total. :confused3

I noticed several people were listed on the Cosol Tour on St lucia. I received an email from the tour operator saying they begin @ 8:30am and go for 5-6 hrs but our port schedule says we are in port from 12-7pm??

Does anyone have updated excursion info for this trip?

Thanks!

CC....you have way too much time on your hands!

Also, I am a little concerned and wondering if we need to pop over to Hawaii and take your temperature. I have NEVER seen such detail typed about Hawaiian skirts as you did in your post back there. Are you sure you are typing this stuff and not the wife? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Awww C'mon....

... can't "I" get any credit for my own non-sense? I have dropped my daily posting count from 10-48 to sub 10 out here? And why not accept that all I really do is dictate to my 2.75 year old who is doing all the typing, editing to correct the most grevious misspellings, and image searches and postings? She is quite avid in her computer edutainment games and key board destroying antics... yeah - she's peeled the keys off two keyboards now - and splashed the notebook once with a sippie cup... OK... she hada sippie cup and used it to shake/sprinkle her juice onto MY SPOUSE's notebook! We cleaned it and it was servicable... and fortunately,,, it was due for updating as the whole company converted - so we did not have to deal with the slightly less functional key board for long.

AND in closing (temporary closing) - may I ask what is WRONG with adding a little detail on Skirt sets for those considering joining the illustrious order of the grass skirt? U kno... for some the eventual photos and images WILL go down in INFAMY as a semipermant legacy to their aires and clan! Yes... generations to come will look back on the images of their bretheren and wince - and in so doing ... decisions today may fine tune the nature of the "wincing". The issue of shiney coconuts or a green skrit versus a natural straw colored one will influence whether little nieces to come will quip "dis" or "dat"... get it (?)... huh(?)... "DIS"? And furthermore - for others the digital image of themselves in this grass skirt shall transcend mere posting on the DIS... it may someday achieve timeless status on a BLOG or even get "photo-engraved" eternally on their eventual TOMBstone! Yeah ... they do nice photos on even those simple marble caps for grave sites.... and if cheap enough (and it would HAVE to be cheap for a true parrot-head? LOL) then why not immortalize the inclusion of one into the loyal order of the grass skirt?

And no... I am not conveniently offerring a "special rate - buy it now" deal! Although .... maybe I could dredge up something....

Here's an example of what I'm talking about - except it's a "doggie marker"
6f_1_sbl.JPG

I predict Scott will chime in with an "inhumanity of" remark shortly.... :rolleyes1

OK... time for me to edit out my usual "siggy"... best to lay low for a bit with what "I" look like I think... :rolleyes1

Can some of you give me some advise on what to wear for the Pirate and Tropical nights? Also...what are the fish extenders? This is my first cruise ever (Sept. 17) and I want to do it right!!! :)

Lots of your questions are answered in the newsletter. How do you get a newsletter you may ask? Send me an e-mail with your DIS name and e-mail address to twhipple@fastmail.fm and I'll get you the link! Fish extenders were described in a newsletter early this spring. As for Pirate and Tropical nights, some will be wearing full pirate or wench outfits, some will wear just a pirate hat (with clothes of course!) and everything in between. Tropical night we typically wear tropical shirts or a tropical dress. Many of the guys will be wearing grass skirts as part of the Grass Skirt Fraternity (GSF).

Dear Sweetie,

Just want to let you know that you can't do it wrong. :goodvibes Our first cruise we booked four days before the sail date packed a bag and got on the ship. We had a wonderful time.

As for pirate night, some people choose to dress in costume. This can range from a T-shirt with a pirate theme to full blown Captain Hook or Jack Sparrow Regalia. Wenches and Pirate Princesses. Eye patches and parrots. Many people do not dress for pirate night. In seven cruises, this is our first time we will dress in costume. It is up to you. Some people dress in tropical attire for pirate night. Your servers will pass out pirate bandanas and even help you tie them if you desire.

Tropical night is colorful, island wear. Again your choice. Colorful and casual.

Disney Sweetie...

If I may be the first (or among the many who are about to step forward) to offer a hearty pirate-like "welcome aboard" in advance to you and your family on this voyage onto the high seas! And I shall edit in some more tangible answers in a moment - let me post this now to sieze the spot right below your posting....

OK... so I would just say - to do it right just browse page 1 with the basic orientation - get on the roster - review the newsletters and links carefully - and select alacart what diversions seem appealing.

I might add that without any DIS involvement you would have had a tremendous experience on this sailing - and with judicious selections the DIS diversiona could add a layer of icing to the experience. ANd too much might actually EXHAUST you... so go at a comfortable pace! I have 2 young kids so I sort of have to pick and choose what we engage in. :thumbsup2

FYI

For anyone who has not made plans yet or has just added on to this cruise, there are 6 spots available on the Thriller Turtle & Shipwreck Snorkeling Adventure in Barbados.

Currently the tour is set to depart @ 12:00 pm but if we can fill the 6 spots then we can adjust the start time earlier in the morning, perhaps 10am or so which will give us more time in the afternoon to check out the town, the Boat yard or other local beaches or some of you have expressed interest in visiting Malibu Rum!!! pirate:

Tracy and a few friends as well as the pirate clan from Cucamonga will be joining you so this could be an all DISexcursion

Here is the info provided by the tour operator...

btw, for those with smaller children, they did not charge us for the 2 1/2 yr old so that could be an added benefit :thumbsup2

PM me if interested

Tour Info Webpage

Here are the stops on your 3 1/2 hour Thriller Turtle & Shipwreck Snorkeling Adventure.

1. Sea Turtle Snorkel.
2. Coral Reef Snorkel.
3. (2) Ship Wrecks Snorkel.
4. Beach Stop.

A total of 3 snorkeling stops & a beach stop.

Thriller Ocean Tours

Our Turtle and Ship Wreck tour is 3 1/2 hours long, we take you along our islands golden coastline to the Turtle Cove where you can snorkel with the endangered sea turtles and watch as they are fed. From there, we then make our way south to the Historic Carlisle Bay which has crystal clear water and wonderful white sand. This snorkel spot is intriguing as you can snorkel over 2 large sunken ship wrecks with schools of colorful tropical fish. Then it’s off to your 3rd stop at one of Barbados most beautiful beaches.

We now offer on this tour an additional NEW Snorkel stop our "Coral Reef Snorkel"

Snorkeling gear, snacks, refreshments soft, beer and rum punch are included. The tour is $45.00 U.S. per adult and $30.00 U.S for Children 12 years and under.

Directions to our boats Gunner Too & Thrill Seeker:

As you exit the cruise terminal, ask for the Bridgetown shuttle which cost only $2.00 U.S. per person. This will take you to Broad Street, which is the main street of Bridgetown our Capital, there are many stores if you need to do some shopping.

There are lots of taxis at the cruise terminal & they charge $3 U.S. per person to take you direct to the Waterfront Cafe in Bridgetown, this might be the easiest way.

If I were you I would just take the taxi direct to the Waterfront Cafe & our boat is in the water by this popular cafe. (Don't worry you can't get lost it's a really small town)

We need you to be at the boat 15 minutes before scheduled departure, the boat is located in the Careenage in the center of Bridgetown, opposite the Parliament Buildings. Take a short walk across the bridge with the arch and we are on the right by the popular Waterfront Café.

Additional Info

You can pay when you get to our boat Visa, Mastercard credit cards, travellers checks & of course cash whichever you prefer at the time.

Not sure if you are ealy movers in the morning but if you wish to come to our boat & see where it is & familarise yourselves with the area you can then do a bit of exploring the shops in Bridgetown or walk over to the boat yard beach only 5 minute walk from our boat.

You really won't need a map once you get to our boat at the Waterfront Cafe you can ask anyone how to find the boat yard. The local are very friendly & it's a very safe island.

If you are interested in rum there is the Malibu factory & the Mount Gay Rum visitors center.

It might be your first visit to Barbados but I'm sure it won't be your last, so much to do & the water is agua marine color & the snorkeling is a blast especially the sea turtle stop.

If you have any other questions please do not hesitate contacting us again.

Hope we can make our Thriller Turtle & Shipwreck Snorkeling Adventure one of the highlights of your Cruise Vacation.

Best Regards,

Stephen Tryhane

Shari, I agree with Tracy on the tag game, I think all three tags should be able to go to everyone, but I also like the idea to not allow someone to tag a door that already has a tag on it. That might force the tags to get farther, maybe.

I think that is what people originally thought, now the franchisees are getting popped!! Look at their stock price from in the $100's to less than 10 bucks, I wish i would have held the short I made on this stock when it was in the stratosphere.

These things go in cycles, they are fads and the owners cashed in big time. Not too different when I was younger and Winchell's were everywhere (at least here on the west coast), now you see one every once and awhile, us Americans are a finnicky bunch, we go from health foods, to fat foods and back again.

While McDonalds has switched from offering junk food to healthy foods, and Wendy with their side options, Carls Jr is busy pushing the super Fat & Cholesterol bomb burgers, yet McDonalds still hasn;t taken the transfat out of their oil for the french fries even though they promised it almost 2 yrs ago i think?

pretty funny huh, just came back from a run with the old man (storm) and all i'm thinkin about is food :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

so what are all you thinkin about this mornin? :goodvibes

Funny.... I read this thinkin' ...hmmm ".... I had NO idea..." and at the same time thinkin' "... now when was the last time I went into any of these places?...". I do go into an ocassional MD and KCreme - but I have not in a long time - gotta be over 30-90 days on MD and well over 120-180 days for KCream. AND yes... we did think - wow - as much buzz as these KCreams are getting I wonder what they want for a F-unit or multi-unit territory? Of course, I am NOT into the food service industry so it is strictly arm-chari curiosity. All the GOOD deals require nearly a decade of prior experience in food service and I have maybe a few weeks from having delivered pizzas when in college. Not quite the "right stuff"...

So what AM I THINKING of for today?... we've actually got a light agenda with returning a rental car, catchin a matinee with some light shopping - and possibly a visit to the aquarium in the afternoon. No big family run ins or meals today - just a step back from the pace of the last couple of days.

And what else is on my mind... well... this morning I'm shopping eBay - and from here I'm gonna mail out some concert tickets to the winner of my eBay auction - as the payment didn;t come through until I was already here. Oh well... fortunately they were small enough to pack and be of insignificant consequence. AND... I'm shopping ebay for DIS and DAT. Yeah... the Hawaiian Pidgeon lingo is creeping in just a bit on me. Especially with all the banter of the past few days.

OK... whats up with YOU this morning?....

Work, selling a house, work, driving 340 miles to work, work, moving, wondering when we will be moving, work, travel next week, work, buying a new house, work, moving, hoping we don't need something for the cruise we have aready packed,

I need to take a Holiday..... take a sail and end up in a moon lit bay,

Bring a celestron Sky Scout (with current web updates) and a green laser pointer and we can run a DIS gathering to count the new planets too along with enjoying a moon lit evening and appropriate beverage(s)!!!

Good morning everyone. I finally decided to give up on reading the numerous pages I am behind (approximately 80 at last count). Here's hoping that the posts will decrease to a reasonable reading level now that post 10,000 has been achieved.

Thanks to Peter and his great summary at Page 1 - I know anything I must know is going to be there. Also thanks to kpros and seaulater who keeps me appraised of anything they think I must know.

I hope that everyone is having a great day.

I agree - too much to read - but my excuse is I'm out of town... :confused3

Bob and I are thinking, well talking about what a great group of people we will be cruising with. We can't wait to see all of you we have already met..and we can't wait to meet all of you we have only talked with here.

We are ready to cruise for sure!!!

Cheryl

Cheryl --- you folks are so kind to share this - we feel the same way over here while we're marooned on this dessert isle ... and to think ... it was to only be a 3 hour cruise for us over here!

gilligan.gif

Oh ... wait a minute... wasn't it Let's GO Steelers' Turtle thing that was supposed to be a 3 hour cruise?... Hmmm maybe I'll have to ask my spouse about the turtle thing again since we just gave a soft confirmation as joining! LOL!

MY GOODNESS!!! You all have been busy! I last logged in on Sunday night and I think I am now 100 pages behind! I looked back 10 pages, but I think I am going to have to let the other 90 go......

I haf ta echo your setiment here .... especially with as little time as I've had lately to go back and catch up - as enjoiable as it is to do so... so I'm tryin' to catch up where I can and post some thoughts while they may remain relevant and NOT disruptive to the flow of conversation!

Leslie and my sailaway gift will be lifesavers in a customized wrapper. On the 14 night repo cruise last May we had lots of different items placed in our fish extender - we got mints, custom made postcards, pirate stickers & temporary tattoos, highligher pens, luggage tags, DCL Can Covers, buttons, pins...here is a picture I took of all our loot that was put in our fish extender....

DSCN1049.jpg

!!!!

WOW! What a haul of goodies! Now I am confused... :confused3 do the fish extenders get used for everyday utility in the cabin or are they part of a sharing game where we all contribute something to everyone elses' fish extenders in our community? IE.... where did all this "loot" come from and what was the premise? As I would not want to misunderstand and FAIL to contribute properly to the community event??

So far all I know of is we are to have some sort of fish extender decorating contest - divided into two age catagories... :confused3
