put me in for one of those too, did you get prices yet?

I've been sort of off balance these past couple of days - nice stuff but busy - I'll get an idea of prices and shoot some pictures of authentic grass skirt sets - strictly tourist grade - and exact measurements - unless anyone wants something more serious in quality. Plus I'll be looking to drop them at your cabins as soon as I board the ship - so i hope to get aboard in time so u can make use of them properly!

cheers,

Tom

C.C. aka Tom,

If you are still looking into real grass skirts I would very much be interested if the price is right. Hard to find anything bigger than a 36" waist. I would need a 38" waist and around a 20 to 25" length. Sounds like I may not be the only one with this problem. :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: The wife won't let me wear the thong if I've got a 2"gap in the GS. :confused3

ok... let me check what we got out here ....

Linda, sorry about your cat. It's not an easy decision to make :sad2: :grouphug:

Party City has the "plus size" grass skirts that fit up to a 42 inch waist.

I believe Oriental Trading does as well, and you can order those right from the internet. orientaltrading.com

OK...

... just came back from a walk to cover a small errand for my spouse - we're right next to the International Market - which is a tourist trap swap meet - and I stopped to examine 3 venders with grass skirt sets. The 1st is the standard ABC store chain which is all over Waikiki and probably represents the highest price for decent fare... They had an XL 36 waist x 28" long skirts with several decorative crimpled circles of colored fabric on the waist with a natural hay color or dyed green grass body plus a bonus fabric BIKINI top (really cheap) for $11.49. A 2nd stop was in the international market - they had only a large size at 31" x 28" set with plastic top - even cheaper looking - and they wanted $9.99.

The 3rd stop was the best - they were 1 street off the main drag on kuhio - a Mom and pop store with a nice grass skirt in green or natural straw color - nothing decorating the waist as the ABC store version - but the bikini top was a pair of glossy half coconuts! Undersized IMHO but otherwise nice looking in the bag. The size was 36x28 in XL or L in 31x28" and the best part - the price was only $7.99! It sort of looked like this with a nicer skirt (I guess):

hulaskirt-k.jpg

Now - if I get to the swap meet next week = then THAT is where it is generally the LOWEST COST for any tourist trap things - crafts and so on. We are thinking of WEDnesday next week. If you'd like me to get you a set - specify cocnut shells (I think these are best) ... or alternately a set with a more developed skirt... and assume the prices for these tourist grade sets will be under $8 at the swap meet. I don't seriously expect them to be less then $5. AND if you want a high quality set - then let me know this is your 1st choice with a dollar limit. I have NO IDEA what a better quality set goes for - but if you want it - let me know with your budget. PLUS gie me a 2nd choice with the ones I'e found already at an estimated $8 or less.

Sizes are XL at 36x28" .... or L at 31"x28".
SKIRT Color choices are .... natural, green, or instruct me to get something WIERD if I can find it - like neon PINK or LIME GREEN (DIS colors?)????
Top Type... shiney Coconuts, Fabric or plastic.

Any requests made which do not address any of the THREE features above = SIZE, Skirt COLOR or TOP TYPE will be left to my disgression.

Also... because I am unable to catch up easily - any ORDER requests should be sent via PM prior to TUESDAY midnite California time to ensure I'll address your needs.

Remember ... actual requests must be sent via PM  .

cheers!

Tom

Question regarding the fish extenders. Having not participated on our past Disney cruises, what are typical items one might drop off at said extender? We have an idea of what we want to do, but don't know if it falls in line with what perhaps others have in mind. If anyone wouldn't mind sending us a PM, we would appreciate to find out if we are on the right path. Thank you in advance.

Tried to stop by our local Krispy Kreme tonight and it is still shut up tight. Most be more serious than anticipated. Really, really missing those treats. The girls are going crazy for the "pink" ones!

Leslie and my sailaway gift will be lifesavers in a customized wrapper. On the 14 night repo cruise last May we had lots of different items placed in our fish extender - we got mints, custom made postcards, pirate stickers & temporary tattoos, highligher pens, luggage tags, DCL Can Covers, buttons, pins...here is a picture I took of all our loot that was put in our fish extender....

A funny thing about Krispy Kreme...they opened a few locations here in Ontario but they didn't last long...maybe a year....they couldn't compete with our donut and coffee shops called Tim Horton's....Some Tim Horton locations are popping up in the US now that Wendy's bought the chain. We Canadians LOVE our Timmy's (as we call it) coffee and Disney would do a stealing on park hopper passes if they opened a location in the Canada Pavillion in Epcot...all the Canadians would start their day in Epcot just to get a cup of coffee!!!!

Good morning everyone! Got up at 5:55am central to make our Dec Candle Light Processional dinner reservations for our "girls only" trip. Held on line for 35 minutes! But, main thing is I got what I wanted.

I am sorry for those of you in Arizona. No Krispy Kreme's. Now, how many of you read this and said "Hmmm, sounds like a great investment opportunity to me." No Krispy Kremes...they need/want them...haven't had them for a few days...Franchise a store...Pow...what a killing....

Good morning eveyone. Just getting caught up on the posts this morning.

Thanks everyone for the :grouphug: and good thoughts on my cat. He is in Kitty heaven now and catching all kinds of things and eating sunny side up eggs. I just know it! :goodvibes

Well, I need to get some things done around the house while the little one is in PreK this morning. I will try and check in later. :smooth:

I had never heard of a Krispy Kreme not making it until our recent trip to WI, the one they put near my mom and dad's house shut down shortly after opening. Although the area they live in has some fantastic bakeries..or everyone just makes them homemade. Bob and I live for the hot donuts now sign..lol.

They talked about putting one in Madison, but never did it. They sell them everywhere around here though, the convenience stores, Walmart, grocery stores, etc. I haven't had one since our last Disney cruise. Looking forward to a cream filled glazed Krispy Kreme for breakfast soon :cool1:

I was thinking of leaving work early today, then I found out my boss's depositions are by phone so he'll be here all day  Could do it tomorrow instead because he'll be out, but it's supposed to rain then. Decisions, decisions! Beautiful day here in Wisconsin today! Actually kind of chilly this morning, but great!!

I think that is what people originally thought, now the franchisees are getting popped!! Look at their stock price from in the $100's to less than 10 bucks, I wish i would have held the short I made on this stock when it was in the stratosphere.

These things go in cycles, they are fads and the owners cashed in big time. Not too different when I was younger and Winchell's were everywhere (at least here on the west coast), now you see one every once and awhile, us Americans are a finnicky bunch, we go from health foods, to fat foods and back again.

While McDonalds has switched from offering junk food to healthy foods, and Wendy with their side options, Carls Jr is busy pushing the super Fat & Cholesterol bomb burgers, yet McDonalds still hasn;t taken the transfat out of their oil for the french fries even though they promised it almost 2 yrs ago i think?

pretty funny huh, just came back from a run with the old man (storm) and all i'm thinkin about is food :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

so what are all you thinkin about this mornin? :goodvibes
