Sept Pin Event ??? (totally confused)

Ok, I JUST came across the info on the pin event at WDW for Sept. Well, we are beginning our vacation Sept 10th so this is of some interest but I really don't understand the whole thing. I'm sure this has all been asked, but I can't find a simple explaination for a newbie.

Ok, so I understand the event is at Epcot. Does the $75 cover all 3 days? (We don't arrive until the 10th.)

What happens if we go to Epcot that day? Will there be non-ticket trading events? Or will the CM possibly have pins they normally wouldn't?

We are casual collectors. The $75 seems pretty pricey. Why do people pay that? (See, I said that I'm totally confused) What's so special about the event?

I saw that there will be a kid's area at the event. Will people really pay $75 for their kids to go?

What is this RSP? Does that mean you aren't guarenteed a ticket?

If we don't do the pin event is Epcot a good place to avoid during this event then?

Between the Night of Joy at MK and Pin Event at Epcot, I'm beginning to wonder about the crowds. We like Sept because the crowds are low. What do you think the size of the crowds will be like? Will the rides be "open" because everyone will be at the event?

Any other info would be appreciated. I did read Disney's event info, but for someone who has no idea it was a little "over the top". We wouldn't be interested in the auction because I'm sure it's expensive items. (we're just casual collector who will happen to be at WDW at this time)

Thanks for all your help!!!!! :flower:

I'll try to answer, but soooooooooooo many questions and I'm sure the answers will generate more.

1. Yes the $75 per person covers all three days, but does not include park admission.

2. What's special is the pins that you can buy are only sold at the event (unless they have left overs after the event). Plus you get a lot of free pins, there are pin trading boards with stuff you normally don't see, you get to see upcoming pins, more free pins, pin games where you get pins for playing, meet friends, a comfortable place to trade pins, meal tickets for buying food when you stop trading pins for a few minutes, surprises, a pin auction...... (have I said enough, and probably forgetting something)

3. If the parent is going, and you don't have someone to take care of jr, whatcha gonna do? Also jr may be into pin trading, so that might be a factor.

4. RSP means Random Selection Process. It a computerized and independently fair way to distribute the pins you want. It gets rid of people pushing, shoving, fistfights, etc. over the LE 25 Figment framed set!

5. No, don't avoid EPCOT. All the crazed pin fanatics will be inside the Millenium Village building between Canada and UK. What? There are rides at WDW? Something else to do besides pin trading? You are just talking crazy!
I also believe that on the last day, they open up the MV to non-ticketed pin traders in the afternoon. (But not sure on that detail)

6. Night of Joy is a special ticket so unless you buy that ticket for that night, you aren't going to MK. Since MK is closed, parkhopper tickets will go to another park. But as you said, it's Sept so I really haven't noticed a large crowd (except for all those around me in Millenium Village)

Who would want to fight over something like that? :rolleyes1 :bounce: :duck: :duck: :duck: :jumping2:

As a follow on from these questions. I can't make the event but have been offered the chance to sponser someone.
How can i make sure this is as safe as possible.
What questions should i be asking
thanks

thanks for the replies.

In general, it seems like this event probably appeals to the more "serious" pin collectors (is that an oxymoron?). With being able to possibly attend for only one day, I'll leave the event to you guys. Although, I'd be interested in checking it out that last afternoon, if it "opens" up to everyone.

Hope you have the best of luck and get some great pins!!!

In the past the last day of the event (Sunday) was public day. Come in, look around and meet some traders. Typically the trading boards are not as fully stocked on Sunday as they will have been on Friday and Saturday, but that doesn't mean that they are a waste of time. Public day is the PERFECT way to decide if this is something you might want to sign up for next year.

Yes, Sunday 9/11 is the public day of the event. Whatever RSP merchandise is left will be available to the general public to purchase.

Don't be afraid of us "serious" pin traders....we don't bite (much---only when antagonized over a Holy Grail pin....... :earboy2: )

Where in Epcot is this event held? I am hoping to take my young grandsons to the public event time on Sunday. They would enjoy seeing some of the special pins, but really can't justify $75 for each to attend. Do you know what time on Sunday they can attend the public event?
Thank you for your help.

It will be held at World Showplace, the former Millinnium Village. This is in Epcot between Canada and England.

According to the event itinerary posted on ODPT, it will be open for Epcot Day Guests starting at 11:00am on Sunday September 11. Registered Event Guests will still be able to get in between 9:00 and 11:00.

Cheshire,
Thank you so much for answering my questions. I feel ready to take my grandsons now. They are looking through their pins to see if there are any they would trade. I have a feeling I will be buying lots of new ones, as they hate to part with the ones they have.
