Sept. 30, 2006 -- Eastern Magic

Karen,

My husband is a corporate pilot (commercial license) and we also have our own plane. I'm not into it. Had an uncle that was a commercial pilot and he died in the cockpit. So, I still get a little nervous in the air. My DH always wanted to fly and loves it very much (his father is retired Air Force). We have a couple of businesses too so as he tells it, life is great and he loves everything he does. Good to know he'll have someone there that can understand the passion of it all.

Your boys are adorable.

Tracey :ccat:

For you repeat cruisers - I don't see how I can reduce the amount of clothing that I will need to pack for my 3 children. 2 outfits per day X 7 days X 3 girls = 42 outfits.

I am thinking that they will need one outfit during the day and then another for dinner. I am thinking one Mickey Bar per meal and that outift will not be able to be worn again.

Am I right in my thinking?

OK, I NEVER pack for ANYTHING this soon. Am I the only procrastinator here? I feel I do way better under pressure and if I was to start now, I'd forget what I packed!

I'm right along with you. :thumbsup2 I can't pack this early either. When I'm ready it will be a flurry of me running around the house like a mad woman getting everything ready while DH and DS just sit and watch. I guess I'm better than TV at that point! :lmao:

I put our names on our door signs because I read here that if you don't they are more likely to be taken. I'm not too worried about people knowing our name or room number - I guess I'm just a trusting soul. But, I'll keep an eye out on our onboard account.

That is funny but oh so true! :rotfl:
On the 4 day cruise last year I ended up having to do laundry one day. It wasn't that much fun and the lines were long. Everyone got a nap but me that day. :sad2:

I may use the Disney laundry service this time. I heard it is pretty good.

THANK you to DISNEYMOMTO1 for finding out the movie listings. I was going to call this week!

TraceyP, Thanks, I think my boys are adorable too. They are usually pretty good kids so I feel very lucky! :goodvibes

Do any of you know if the Internet Cafe :surfweb: has the ability for me to download my digital onto a disc? I don't want to take my laptop and I wasn't sure if I should buy another memory stick.

Thanks,

Tracey :ccat:

Yep. OR you can bring fewer clothes and go to the laundry. However, remember that on excursion days, if you are doing a beach thing, you will more than likely spend the day in swimwear. That may eliminate the need for an outfit or two.

What we do is bring just a couple pairs of pants (we have three boys) and a couple pairs of shorts, but more shirts and mix and match. Of course, because my boys are bigger and their clothes take up more space, I DO go to the laundry once during the trip.

Remember, also, you are likely to buy a new t-shirt or two, so there's a couple more you don't pack, but you have to remember to have enough packing space to bring the new stuff home!

We have managed on the past couple cruises to pack each boy into a rollerboard. DH and I each pack into expandable rollerboards as well as DH's hangbag for his tux, DSs' suits and my good stuff. This is one of the reasons we have to have a suite....to store the suitcases. :rotfl2:

I don't think so. I know that Shutters does it, but it costs. I don't remember how much as I've never used it, but from what others have said, it sounds like it can be expensive. That said, DH and at least one DS will be each traveling with a pc, so if you bring your own CDs, we could probably help you out.

Beth,

Thanks. I appreciate the offer. DH might think it's better to take mine. I'll see what he says. At least now, I know it is something I really should consider. I was looking for the easy way. Do you know if the Internet Cafe is normally pretty busy?

I don't feel the need to be connected while on vacation, but DH has no such choice. He is NEVER out-of-touch with his office. Fortunately, though, the office picks up our internet service when on the cruise. From DH, I understand that the Internet Cafe can be very busy, especially days at sea. They now have another option...wireless, but only in certain common areas. We haven't used that yet, but will this time, so DH can use his own pc to connect to Hartford.

Hi All,

I'm down to single digits. Nine days from now I'll be at Ron Jon's. :cool1:

Betsy: Nice sign!!

Karen: Nice looking boys & I updated the roll call.

Sheila: Thanks for the movie info!

No packing here yet either. I did get the suitcases out and the "Disney" box is filling up.

Also, the dog is freshly bathed. That was fun!

Gotta run...

David

Beth, thanks for the info. I'm like your DH and must stay connected to my office. My company will pay for my bill too. As long as I can have some time with my family, I'm okay with it. I have gotten in the habit of not being out of touch from the office (my fault) so this vacation is a very big deal for us. My DH and I are workaholics (I know, that is very bad) so this vacation is well deserved and a needed one! I think I may take my pc so I don't have to worry about checking in. Again, thanks so much for the info.

I finally made our hotel reservations for the night before.
Called and requested PLA for seating. popcorn::
Called Perfect Gift. They are supposed to call me back.
Ordered a hand held portable scale to weigh our luggage before returning. Crossing fingers it will be here by the time we go. Keep that in mind if anyone needs to borrow it at the end.
Still haven't decided on what to do for our door.
Getting more excited every day!

David, thank you for keeping the roll call up to date. I don't know how you got this job, but it is very nice of you to do it. TraceyP

Last year I helped Betsy organize and pack before we left. I used to overpack but now I have it down pat. Wish I could come and help all you get ready. Since I am retired, I just sit here, think about it and drop things into the area around the open suitcase. It will all have to be organized before I leave, however. Not long now until we can all put faces with names. :thumbsup2 :yay:
