Sept. 30, 2006 -- Eastern Magic

Hi all-

It's been a long while since I have been here and feel like I need a refresher course! Actually, this is the first 7 day DCL cruise for us; we have only ever done the "land and sea" cruise on the Wonder. First time on the Magic for us.

Can someone please give me a 7-day cruise "101"? There's a formal night? oops, didn't know. I guess I just need to know the basic differences between the two sailings. Where do I find all of this info? Also, what is the DIS color thing about? I feel so lame and out of it!

David -Can you update my info on your rollcall sheet? We are Ryan, Cindy and kids, party of 4, late seating.

I can't wait to see (and meet) you all! Anyone going from my neck of the woods (AZ)?

Less than 2 weeks-yippee! :woohoo:
Cindy (aka rellyrooly)

Cindy,

We are from Chandler. We are early seating. I have two kids - 5 and 8. Are our kids the same age? I do not know your wonder/MAgic answers because I have never been on the wonder but I would look on Passporter.com or Dave's Cruise sight for the info - they are pretty good.
Shirley

I swore to myself I'd be active on the Meets thread for this cruise, but time has gotten away from me! Is it too late to join in? Would someone be kind enough to share whatever meets have been planned? Here's our info:

Cabin 2139 DH Glenn, Me (Kim), DS Gavin, 5 and DS James 3. We've got main seating. Are people linking reservations, or is it too late? I'd love to know we're sitting with people who "get" Disney the way we do! We've all got costumes for Pirate's Night and we're going to have a blast.

ETA: We're sailing on the Lord Sheffield in St. Maarten, will be going to Coral World and on the tram in St. Thomas, and parasailing on Castaway Cay

:wave2: I hope I'm not too late!!!

Shirley-
Hey! My kids are 5 & 9-really close to yours! They go to Navarrete, how about yours? We should really connect at some point and introduce them. Wouldn't it be funny if they already know each other somehow?

Dear Kim,

I am so sad to hear the news about your DMIL. :sad2: You and your family are in our prayers. I am so glad to hear that you DFIL will be able to travel with you. Looking forward to giving you a big hug. :grouphug:

Got to get back to work. Talk to you all real soon.

DiDi

Do they have actual film developing on board? You know, with the old fashioned 35 mm cameras, LOL? I have a digital, but am bringing my Canon Rebel too. If so, how much is it?

Thanks all!

Hi All,

The roll call is updated.

Kim: It's never to late to join in!! Some of us Early/PLA have linked our reservations. I can PM you with my reservation number and you (or your TA) can call to try and link to us?

The only meets that have been tossed about are lunch at Parrot Cay upon boarding & at the sail away party on Deck 10. Nothing firm there.

Bracelets are ordered. No news that they've been shipped yet. I did order a couple of extras. I haven't figured out yet how to find you all to pass them out. Any ideas?

David

What time is everyone boarding...lunch might be hard to do if people are coming on the DCL transportation. I have a 10am shuttle scheduled, so I will be there when they open the gates!!

I will be on deck 10 starboard (side next to terminal) for sailaway...

Hi! I hope everyone had a great weekend - we did! I can't believe I haven't been getting online over the weekends or weeknights. I guess that so much other stuff is going on that I just don't have the time...

So, DH has pulled the suitcases out and is starting to pack - even before me???? :faint: I guess he's finally excited. I'm a "pack at the last moment" girl, so I won't be packing anything until next week. Plus, if I leave suitcases out, all the kitties (4 of them) love to scratch, rub up against and curl up inside them and then we end up bringing tons of cat hair with us on vacation!

Sounds like we will be right along with the rest of you in Pirate Night. Thanks everyone for letting me know what you will be wearing. Now, if I could only find those pirate eye patches that I bought about 6 months ago.

Kim, so sorry to hear about your MIL. Sounds like everything was peaceful when she was called away. Continued prayers and pixie dust from the O'Connors! I'm also glad to see your FIL is stepping up and coming on the cruise. Hopefully the cruise will ease everyone's grief, at least for a little bit. But, what are you and DH gonna do about alone time? Doesn't sound like you are going to get too much. Maybe Granny and FIL can keep the kids entertained a night or two. ;) Also, I'm really glad you didn't have to reschedule - we're really looking forward to meeting you and your family.

OK, gotta get back to work. Still working on door signs, pillowcases, etc. Pulling all my paperwork together and arranged a cat sitter (one lucky sister of mine!).

Have a great day!
Angela

David, Here is all of our information for the roll call.
Tracey, Jeff, DS4 Dillon, DS10 (Matthew)
Our cabin number is 5018.
Late seating.
We are flying in to arrive MCO, Saturday at 12:30 p.m. via Dallas.

Do you need anything else from me? I'm very new at this.

Sheila, good to know that you are packing the other things (ha).

Kim (Kfeuer) we are on Lord Sheffield too.

Thanks to everyone that has taken the time to recommend things. I think after today's run to town (during my lunch) I picked the rest of the items up. Those of you that take pillowcases for the characters to sign. Do the charaters mind signing the cases and the autograph books? I was going to take the autograph books the boys started 2 years ago when we were at DW. However, I'd like for them to have both.

Tracey

We are being dropped off by ex-in-laws around 11:00am at the terminal. We are going out to breakfast with them so probably not going to do the buffet. Exploring the ship and getting to the Mickey Pool. Will be at sail away though. DD LOVES to dance, so she will probably want to be down front and center. We will have to see how things transpire that first day. I don't have to book anything. Just have to change DD to lab, not club. Can't do it online for some reason, and I can do that at the terminal :yay:

Everyone,

Do you decorate the outside of your cabin doors? If so, what do you put on it and do you have a problem with anyone taking the items? I have a few things but wasn't sure if I was on the right page or not. (I feel like I'm back in college (ha)). I want to make sure I have all the right things.

Tracey :ccat:

Question for you veterans out there! I have been hearing from others that you shouldn't put names on your door magnets because there is a possibility of someone buying stuff and charging your room number. Does this happen? I have a real cute birthday magnet for DD with her name on it and also a couple with pictures of both of us. I'm kinda concerned now. :confused3

What are your thoughts?

I just read all 77 pags of this thread!!!! It has taken me hours, my butt is really, really sore but it was worth it! I feel much better now.....except for the pins and needles in my tushy!

Just a reminder to all about airport security (in case you haven't flown lately.) I had my purell hand sanitizer and my Tide-to-go pen taken from me a week ago at the airport. I was pretty bummed because I am a germ-a-phobe on airplanes and the man next to me spilled his red wine on me in flight and I couldn't do anything about it! Can you believe they took my tide pen?!

Kim I am so sorry. Don't know how else to say it. Thinking of you and yours at this painful time...

David If you have any extra bracelets we would be interested in getting at least 2 of them. We are in cabin #7558. I also just requested PLA, FYI.

Anyone staying at the airport HYATT the night before or going to Universal after the cruise?

Getting psyched... :yay:

Cindy,
That's impressive! All 77 pages? Wow! Did you find the answer to your question about the DIS color? I still don't know what it's all about.
Anyway, we'll be neighbors. We're in 7562. Too bad our kids aren't closer in ages. Ours are 13 and 11.
Congratulations on your reading feat!
Kevin

Tracey and Shelia -
I decorated my door last year for the cruise and halloween..someone took a small magnet (with my name..go figure) but the garland and other signs were left alone

I have never heard of people charging on other accounts...they don't have your KTTW card, they can't charge...so I wouldn't worry

I haven't even thought about my door decorations..I am on deck 5 forward, so not too many people will be going by my room...maybe just a DIS sign...

Sheila I wouldn't put my name on my door...you could never be too safe these days, even on a disney ship! On our last cruise, my friend had someone order something under her cabin #. They didn't even have her name, just #.

Also, do you live in or around Rogers, MN? My in-laws live in Alexandria. Believe it or not, my DH wants us to go there the week after we return from this cruise and universal studios. Talk about a LLLOOONNNGGG vacation with lots of climate changes!

Kevin
I actually think that the other Cindy or someone else might have asked that question about the DIS color. I don't think I did, but who knows; maybe I did. My head is in such a fog from reading this all day that it is entirely possible :guilty: , LOL!

Tomorrow morning we start the packing 11 days, time has marched slowly, but we're finally here. See everyone soon. :cool1: :Pinkbounc

Rellyrooly - YES! I am only about 7 miles from Rogers, MN. I drive through there for work and back every day. That is where there was a BIG tornado Saturday night that took the life of a 10-year old girl. Very tragic and scary. All of us pulled through and no damage here.

BUT, fall is the best time of year to come and visit. Its beautiful. Crisp, cool weather and the changing of the leaves. Fall is my favorite time of year. Not too hot, not too cold?
