We are home after driving 14 hours last night. Now have to unpack. We picked up a bug on board also. DS8 was sick multi times on thne drive home, and another DS does not feel well, and I am a bit on the not feeling well side also. Off to church and then to unpack. Rebooked for next year. Talk to you all soon
Kim
We also are a bit 'under the weather' after the cruise. Mostly sinus related issues and a little throat/upper chest congestion.

Weather on cruise was just about perfect...especially CC day. Really could not have asked for better. About the only negative experience was late in the afternoon on formal night, they had a SERIOUS issue with water on the ship. First it was non-existant and then for about 30 minutes this NASTY brown colored crap with all sorts of stuff in it was coming out of all the faucets.

All in all was a great cruise and we also booked another for next year. For now at least though we're going back to a 4 day cruise...I think maybe that will lessen the pain of having to leave as after 7 days it seemed twice as hard to face reality on Saturday morning as it did after our last 4 day cruise! :rotfl: Actually, if if FL resident special shows up, I may do back-to-back 4/3 and surprise the kids on the last day by telling them we're staying on the ship!

We are back as well! We got to the airport by 9 and I requested to be put on the 10:00am non-stop to Minneapolis and low and behold we got on it! We had to literally run to the gate, but we made it! Much better than changing planes in Chicago and not arriving until 7:30 pm. We got into Minneapolis about 12:30. COOL! :woohoo: Weather here was beautiful yesterday; however, flying in and seeing the fall leaves changing was a bit different than the palm trees! Supposed to be colder by the end of the week. Been doing nothing but laundry since I got home.

Kim, Baylee and I picked up a bug too, I think. However, not stomach, but sore throat/cold. We both woke up with sore throats this morning and she is hoarse. Good thing she doesn't have school tomorrow. But I still have to work!

Talk to y'all soon! Working on my DVD slideshow of the trip and watching my beloved Vikings lose again!

Back to the real world for us too! It was a wonderful vacation and one we hope to do again someday. When we can afford it ;)

Sheila it was nice meeting you. Thanks for letting us hang with you and Bailee at the pirate party pirate: DD5 had fun dancing with Baylee.

We also got a stomach bug Friday night. DH was nauses, I was nauses, DD8 started throwing up after the show and did all night long than DD5 started throwing up at 7:00 Sat morning and threw up off and on all the way home. They are better today. Thank God!

Still doing laundry but will finish tomorrow just too tired to do anymore today.

Tonya

We just got home today, after we got off the ship we surprised our boys with a day at Magic Kingdom. It was hot and crowded, but it was a nice ending to the vacation. Unlike many of you, we couldn't rebook right now :sad1:

My DH also got that stomach bug Thursday night going into Friday. I swear, I was *almost* glad to get off the ship because that bug was vicious and it was going around (we saw a poor little girl being ill into a bag on the way off the ship). I consider it a small miracle that neither myself nor my boys caught it. My poor DH had to miss Castaway Cay and didn't get to go to MK with us, either. I felt really badly for him. I also felt badly for our room steward, he had some not too nice cleaning duties (I felt obligated to slip extra tip money in his envelope, he EARNED IT!)

David, thanks for delivering the bracelets to our stateroom. I forgot my roll call so I didn't know how to get in touch with you (obviously the dining reservation request didn't go through). Anyway, I will PM you about getting you payment for the bracelets.

Hope everyone else had as great a time as we did, let's all share some pictures when we get settled back in!

Kim

Friday night we got in the elevator with a man whos wife was in a wheelchair..he was holding a trash can and she was covered with a blanket...they were on the way to the medical center. They Med-evac'd someone out at Castaway...she was hooked up to an IV..maybe she had it too.

I woke up the first Sunday morning with a TERRIBLE headache and quesy, mom was too...but as soon as we ate..we were better..I think the crab appitizer didn't agree with us.

we did have to stop drinking the water on Wednesday...both mom and I swelled up ..mom worse than me..once we started drinking bottled water..no more swelling..and DH said my hair smelled "funny".. I think they had real problems with the water...I did get the brown water..but only for a minute that night

ok..gotta go get DD ready for school tomorrow!

That would have been my poor little baby :sad2: Right in the promenade lounge. Thanks to the gentleman who got me the sanitary wipes to help clean her up. I am so glad we took the ziplock bags. Not what we intended them for but they were very useful.

We had a great time on the cruise. Even though we didn't spend much time with you all, it was neat to meet many of our fellow Disboard gang! It is difficult to return to normalcy again. We buffered our return with a day in the Magic Kingdom before heading back to Idaho.

Sorry to hear so many folks were sick. :sad2: We had no problems, thankfully. We never drank the water, taking somebody's advice from the Disboards to bring a case of bottled water aboard.

The brown water and frequent pool closures were an inconvenience, but not nearly enough so to take away from the overall spectacular experience of the week!

My only bad experience was "volunteering" for the juggler's adult show. He talked to me beforehand and told me what to do when he "chose" me from the audience. I did exactly what he wanted me to do, but it made me look very much like a jerk trying to mess up his show. I was sure he would say afterwards to the audience that he told me to act like I did, but, unfortunately, he didn't. So if any of you saw me at that show, I assure you that I wasn't trying to screw up his act! I was doing what I was told. Anyway, I tried to keep a low profile after that.

Beth, great question at the Kevin Neary presentation about "Song of the South." ( I think you asked it). I hope Disney comes to its senses and puts it out to be seen again. It's hard to imagine them being ashamed of a multi-Oscar winner.

Oh, also, what's the big deal with room 8534? I'd like to know what that's all about and forgot to ask while on board.

Anyway, it was a pleasure cruising with you all! Maybe again in the future. Mediterranean, anyone?

I got a sore throat late on the day we were in St. Martin which really put me "out of it" for St. Thomas day...fortunately I discovered Contact Flu medicine in the gift shop and that got me back to feeling close to 100%. Last day though I got really hoarse and could barely talk....still like that now in fact. Hoping it clears up before work tomorrow.

Kevin, I was at that juggling show, and I knew that he was yanking your chain. I thought you were priceless! and a great sport! Are you really a lawyer?

Yes, that was me asking the question about Song of the South. I so loved that movie as a child and wish my kids could enjoy it. Some day, maybe.

8534 is the room Tim and I had originally booked for this cruise. It was the one our mothers had on our West Coast cruise last year, so we decided to stay with it. It's one of the larger 1-br because it is just off the mid-ships elevators, so it's perfect for our family of 5. However, we were offered the opportunity to go with a Cat 2 and took it. We've been in the Walt Suite several times as well as in a Cat 3 a couple times, but we'd never stayed in the 2. Now that we have, my husband is relieved that I'm willing to stay in a 2 or a 1, not just wanting the 1 and suffering with anything else. :rotfl2: Anyway, my thing with 8534 was that we had it originally and gave it up at least four months ago, but it was still available (or maybe re-available?) just a few weeks out when Cindy (rellyrooly) upgraded to that stateroom.

We heard about the brown water problem from the concierge. We weren't in our room when it happened, so didn't suffer any of the negatives so many others did. I did hear a lot of fussing about the ship about it...and quite an earful from the family in the stateroom next to us...the mom was NOT a happy camper!

Liam, our youngest, has been sick with a yucky chest since Thursday. We just assumed it was his allergies kicking his asthma into play. I had an inhaler with me, but never thought to bring the breathing machine and nebulizer (the boys all have trouble with asthma, but none so serious that we need to travel with that). Now that I'm hearing about how so many were sick, maybe it's a bug. Either way, it's off to the pediatrician tomorrow as we are likely looking at an ear infection in the making.

We've rebooked as well for Dec 22, 2007. DH is planning on changing it once the 2008 dates become available, though. The boys and I want to do Christmas on the ship, so the game is on! We decided the Mediterranean cruises were cool, but we want to spend more time in Europe than the cruise would allow, and if we did the cuise, we couldn't afford to do Europe the way we want to for the boys.

I didn't get to meet too many of ya'll, but hope everyone had as awesome a time as we did. All 5 of us agree it was our best cruise yet.

Beth,
No, I'm not a lawyer. (I'm a pediatric dentist) He told me to say that I was a lawyer to make the sketch funny. Actually, everything I said and did was rehearsed beforehand in a hallway behind Diversions, including throwing the balls at him at the end of my part. I'm glad you didn't think I was a troublemaker, because I sure felt like I looked like one afterwards!

I'm so lucky, :confused3 my kids "volunteered" me for the Freddy Fusion show as well.

Thanks for the info on the 8534!

By the way, I was kind of sick before we set out, but I sucked down the product called "Airborne" for the first three days of the cruise and actually got healthier as the cruise went on. I'd recommend it for everyone on future cruises!

Kevin

Tonya, so sorry to hear about your little one. Baylee just loved her and had a great time with her at the pirate party!

The water didn't affect us at all. We brought bottled water onboard so didn't have much water. Hardly any at dinner, either. Did see some of the brown stuff in the stateroom, but really not enough to put a damper on the trip.

Am working on my trip report and am actually gonna try to post one! Have never done one, so bear with me, please!

Have a good night, all, it was great to meet some of you!

Hey ya'll! We rebooked for September 15 (friends of ours are doing a vow renewal) but it isn't soon enough! I miss the cruise!

Oh, I forgot to mention that DBF became DFi on the day before the cruise! He popped the question at Disney's Boardwalk that Friday night. :cheer2: I almost fell over! That combined with fantastic weather and an awesome cruise made for the best vacation ever. At least I should have plenty to keep me busy until our next cruise!

I enjoyed meeting a few of you, but unfortunately didn't get to meet as many people as I'd hoped. It's amazing how busy you get once onboard! Hope everyone had a great vacation as well!

I didn't realized that it was a rehearsed thing, but did figure you (and the other volunteers) were in on the act. I thought your shooting the balls back to him was wonderful and perfect for the act! Don't worry, I think everyone thoroughly enjoyed the whole act, including your part.

I've always wondered about Airborne, but never knew anyone who had taken the product. Thanks for the recomendation...I'll store it with our cruise (and other vacation stuff) and try it out.

Off to make doctor and dentist appointments and start the laundry....oh, the joys of being back home! :sad2:

AWESOME! Congrats to you both. Planning on a Castaway Cay wedding???

Did anyone else see the wedding taking place on CC this time? What a magical memory!

I can't believe it is over! That week sure went fast!

We got home yesterday - we too did a day at the Magic Kingdom before coming home to reality! It was a fun way to end the vacation and we were so exhausted at the end of the day we felt very ready to come home (although we actually wish we were still on the ship ;) )

DH seems to have gotten the stomach thing too - he had some mild stomach issues Friday at CC that he thought was due to possible ingestion of eggs (which cause him intestinal issues). However it lasted until Sunday so he may have actually caught something. And I got the sore throat/congestion thing - woke up Saturday morning with a sore throat. Luckily, the congestion held off until we got home last night so travelling was not too terrible. I am feeling pretty sick now though!

We had a great time - we did not know about the brown water until I read this thread this morning! The one big downer was that I left my camera somewhere last Sunday morning (either at Mickey's Mates or at bingo in Rockin' Bar D) and whoever found it decided to keep it! I had a pretty miserable day after that (I was the one sobbing in Mickey's Mates later that day if you saw me  ) - it is inconceivable to me that someone would keep someone else's special memories!!! I mean, obviously I was on the ship - it is not like the camera was lost in the middle of Times Square where you would have no idea where to turn. Anyway, I never had time to upload my photos before we left so I have lost pictures of my kids playing soccer and a field trip with my son's class - not to mention the first day on board - nothing too terrible really, but still very upsetting. I keep coming with more pictures that I lost - this morning it was the one of my family in front of the Mickey ears that lead on to the ship. Luckily, we found the same model camera in St. Maarten for a pretty good price so I was able to capture the rest of the trip on film, or should I say on memory card? The crew was very considerate to us - they gave us a disposable camera to hold us over and kept checking with us to see how we were doing.

Anyway, it was a GREAT vacation! We feel lucky to have had such incredible weather! We sure hope we will have the opportunity to return to the Magic some day!

Welcome home everyone!
Kathie

aww...Kathie..that is terrible..I lost a video cassette of the last 2 days...can't find it..I called DCL lost and Found..they are looking

Hi All,

We made it home late yesterday afternoon. Ron Jon's before and after was a great way to do this cruise. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

No stomach bugs here, Thank goodness. Just an assault on the sinus's returning to New England.

Kathie: I'm very sorry to here about the camera. I lost a bunch of photo's after last years trip due to a hard drive crash, so you have my sympathies.

Momaraven: Congrats to you & DFi. :cheer2:

We all had a fantastic time. My youngest son got VERY sad on Friday after Castaway Cay. He just loves being able to spend time with the family & no chores or work or errands pulling us in all directions.

I decided I'm going to take a stab at a trip report. We'll see how far I get. I'll be sure to post here if I ever get it started.

I hope you all got the bracelets fine. I only managed to collect from a few of you while on board. The bracelets were $2.50 each. Drop me a PM & I'll send you whatever contact info you need.

Still need to unpack but at least 98% of everything in the suitcases is clean & folded (Thanks to Ron Jon's in room washing machines).

It was so nice to meet you all. I only wish I could have managed to meet you all and not feel rushed.

Gotta run... Cats & dog are demanding love. Life can be hard. :)

That was my wife you saw on the elevator! All I have to say is DON'T EVER GET SICK ON A DISNEY CRUISE. My wife came down with the stomach flu during the 6:15 show. Rushed back to our room where she began throwing up every 5-10 minutes. When she wasn't vomiting she was in the bathroom taking care of the other end! I went to the medical center and found that it was closed. I then called guest services who told me a nurse would be coming to our room. After 1/2 hour the nurse called and said she would not come to the room and we would have to come to the medical center. I explained that this would be very difficult in her current state. She once again stated she would not come to our room. So we had guests services send us a wheelchair. When they came to our door I asked the guy if there was a back way to get to the medical center. He asked why the doctor was not coming to us! I explained the conversation I had with the nurse and he told me he would call and get back to me. He never came back! By this point my wife was fading fast so here I go, from our stateroom on deck 7 aft, out into the public areas with my very contagious wife who could throw up (or worse) at any minute! Once at the medical center they were very nice. Ended up giving her a shot for naseua and some immodium for her other problem. Asked the nurse what's the best way to get back to our stateroom and she tells me to take deck 5 where it's less crowded (BUT GOES RIGHT BY THE KIDS CLUBS)! Does that make sense?

Funny thing though is they didn't charge us for anything but looking at the cost for their services, one of the charges is for a IN ROOM VISIT!
