Sept 2012 car rental......

OMG... Logged into Alamo hoping for another few dollars off my rental and saw things are almost double what I have my reservations for... hope they creep back down again, my budget is so tight, every penny counts.

Sept. is the start of low season, prices will come back down. This is our 5th trip at that time of the year. 2 weeks to 1 day before you leave they really bottom out.. hoping this year is no different :hippie:

Do I need to show the KLM flying blue card when I rent the car? I signed up for it today?

Technically they could ask for it but absolutely no one has reported being asked for it. Personally, the only card I have ever been asked to show for a discount is a AAA card.

For those of you looking for minivan deals, I found this Budget code in the August thread: X474200. It worked for my Sept. 8-22 dates at $225/week, for a total of $589 for two weeks, MCO-FLL. This is the best I've found, and is $300 less than Alamo for the same dates/locations. You may be able to add some dollars off coupons as well from Costco or others. Good luck.

I ran your dates through National with the KLM contract id and a $20 coupon and came up with $608.76, which is $20 more than Budget but does include all the insurances (LDW and Liability) I would expect those rates to come down further

Were you running MCO pickup/FLL drop off? I just ran it with the KLM and $20 off codes and got a quote of more than $1400 at National.

National is coming up at 418 for a minivan for me. Alamo finally dropped to 530 - down over 100.00 from the other day when I checked. I am still keeping my enterprise at 297. But looks like some prices are moving.

I checked back with Costco and was able to lower my mini-van rate by about $30 dollars. Last week I booked the Alamo offer for $317.34, and today I found Enterprise was cheaper at $289. This is for a rental from 9/21 thru 9/30, pick up and drop off at MCO. I am hoping the rate will come down, but so far I am fairly happy with this for the length of my stay.

Thanks for the heads up !! just rebooked Sept 7-15, and saved $30.. got an 8 day rental Mini Van for $258 Enterprise.. getting better :teacher:

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread. I'm still hopeful we'll get a better rate. The cheapest I an find out of SFB airport for 2 weeks in late September is $421 with Enterprise (with Entertainment book discount) for an economy car. That's $100 more than we paid last year. The Costco discount seems to be identical to the Entertainment book discount right now. Anyone think the price will come down? I guess the fact that we are not renting from MCO may mean the price will be higher.

Dollar has a decent rate on a mini-van in Sept now. I entered Sept 1-8 as my dates and selected the city special rate. Total including taxes and fees is $280. Much lower than the 400-500 range I was getting a month ago.

For now I am keeping my full-size Alamo rental, but I would love to find an awesome bargain on a mini van that would let my group spread out. 5 adults traveling (all family) and we are planning on getting an Impala if we can't find a cheap van. Three of us are small people and are fine squishing in the back seat since we are staying at WBC and just need to hop in the car for short trips to the park and restaurants.

I used the City Specials also with Dollar and just scored a mid-size for TWELVE days for only $312 with all taxes included. :thumbsup2

I have had a great experience learning about coupon codes ... from this thread !! Thanks all:). Best price I found for a minivan (we are a party of 6) is $225 ($371 total) through AAA (Hertz) for Aug. 31-Sept. 8 rental. Anyone get anything better, please let me know. :drive:

YES. Go plug your dates in at dollar and click the city special link. No code required. I'm showing $317 total for a mini van for your dates.

Thanks, I may be doing something wrong. I tried this and did not get that price, could not find the city special link. What did I do wrong ?! :confused3

Enter your dates on the main page. It says Start Here for our lowest rates. Click Get Rates. The nest page will list car types and rates. You will see a line in orange that says CITY SPECIAL. Click the green button that says Check for city special.

Wow, you guys are getting some great rates! Thanks to some of your posts, I was able to book a compact car at Dollar with the City rate for $416 for 2 weeks. Still not great, but better - thanks! Is early October an expensive time? Our trip starts in late September. I'm wondering if that's why prices seem so much higher compared to some of your quotes, or maybe it's just too early still.
