Sept 2012 car rental......

Nope, we will pick upand drop off the rental at JAX.

Alamo shows almost $1200 for those dates at JAX. I doubt picking up the next day will save you any because usually anything more than 5 days counts for another week, so you will be at two weeks regardless of whether you rent for 13 or 14 days.

Mousesavers.com has a lot of good info on rental car rates. Another helpful site is carrentalsavers.com.

The good thing with cars is you can reserve/cancel/rebook as much as you want with no penalty. But that means you end up having to watch things pretty closely to get the best rates when they appear.

I'm doing a minivan out of Tampa with National, so I went ahead and ran the numbers out of JAX. I got $676 using ID 8572130 (KLM/Flying Blue-join free online) and NWEBCPN027 (a "sorry our site is down" web coupon that anyone can use-might be better coupons out there).

Glad that helped you out -- I just tried those national codes for my dates/location and it was $1400! Think I'll stick with my $869 at Alamo at this point. Crazy how these codes have such varying effects across locations/dates.

I know, the rates are just all over the place. I'm at $297 for the last week of September out of Tampa. The Alamo codes give me around $600.

I need to work on a car rental for my family now. I'd really prefer to have both rented from the same place, but I might do a lot better shopping around. Car vs minivan makes a big difference too.

I just booked a mini-van thru Costco with pick up in Orlando with p/u on 9/21/12 at 1:30 p.m. and dropoff on 9/30/2012 at 11:00 a.m. Total, including fees came to $317.34.

I went to the Costco car rental site and put in my information and had them show me their best fares, I did not select a specific rental agency. The best fare the other day was with Budget, but today it was with Alamo, and I went ahead and booked. If it goes back to Budget, I will switch to them as they allow the extra driver at no charge.

I have had better prices booking directly at the alamo website using the costco codes. its usually a little cheaper. plus the costco code does get you the extra driver for free at alamo

I have a minivan for 297 from Enterprise @ MCO from the 17-24th.
I used a link with at Costco code for 10% off.
I can post the link tonight if you want, you can check out pricing from the airport you need.

Have you guys tried the KLM code 8572130 for national? I have a minivan booked for $318 with that and the mouse savers $35 off for 09/14-09/22. I also have an EA mid size booked for $230.

what is kml code? which national did you rent from?

I would check the Entertainment book or mousesavers.com for Hertz codes.

Just tried these. These give me a price of 406.68 -not so terrible. But Enterprise is still showing up cheapest.

For those of you looking for minivan deals, I found this Budget code in the August thread: X474200. It worked for my Sept. 8-22 dates at $225/week, for a total of $589 for two weeks, MCO-FLL. This is the best I've found, and is $300 less than Alamo for the same dates/locations. You may be able to add some dollars off coupons as well from Costco or others. Good luck.

Car rentals via Costco: here. It will give you a quote for the 4 companies with which Costco has deals (Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise) using all applicable deals. You don't need a Costco ID to look up prices, but you'll need one to actually make a reservation.

Enterprise prices seem to have bounced back up, as my 9/24-10/02 minivan rental is currently being quoted by Costco travel at $422 - I booked the same thing for $295 on July 4 (down from $322 on 6/27).
Alamo has also bounced back up - I booked the same thing with them for $522 on 6/3 and now the quote is $708.

As you can see, I have been stalking a deal on a minivan... I can't be bothered to try out a million codes on each rental company site, though, so I'll just hope that the best deal I can find on Costco isn't too far from the best deal I could have gotten otherwise.

I just tried this, it was 258 plus tax for me, so 346.10

I wasn't sure if I was allowed to post the link with the Costco link for National, but you do have to have a card, as it asks for your card number. With tax through them I'm at 297.
If I am allowed to post, let me know and I'll put it up for those interested.

Looking for help on rates for compact-midsize for Sep. Rough dates are Sep 14-23. DD needs a rental while she visits.
Right now she has a compact for ~ $185'ish.
Pretty high for what we have always paid in the past!

Awesome, glad you were able to find something. Just keep checking it see if the prices change at all as it gets closer. Not sure if it does or not, but doesn't hurt to check.:thumbsup2

Do I need to show the KLM flying blue card when I rent the car? I signed up for it today?
