Happy Tuesday everyone!

I just got through making a lasagna for tonight's supper, would have never been able to do that when I was working!

Can I come to dinner tonight sounds yummy!!
Getting wicked scared here:eek:

Called into the unemployment office yesterday to file for my first official week of unemployment....good times!

good luck with this.:thumbsup2 :goodvibes

Miss you Gal, call sometime.:woohoo:

Pooh, weekend was nice. I just wish I could sit and talk to my daughter the way I do with others. If I pretend to be other than who I am she might like it better but it would not be ME she liked. My grands and I get along just swell. It could be your ex dil is telling the truth. Do as I do and take what you get. I see far better parents than I who have difficult children. It soothes me a bit, I spent far too many years trying to figure out where I went wrong. :confused3

Glad to hear things went so well if your daughter. Just be yourself and don't worry she is the one who is going to miss out on you in the end. As for my ex-dil she knows what she does is wrong so she will have to live with the guilt of keeping him away from me and not keeping my up on his health.

Pooh, how are doing? Is your heart beginning to mend a bit? I know you still miss Peanut.

Yea I am always going to miss that little peanut but I can't go on being upset with myself for doing what was right.

As for daylight savings time.....YUK!!! No good point in it IMHO. At least our school realized they had ISAT testing scheduled for this week and changed it to last week. Someone used their brain and knowing our school it was the janitor. lol

The schools here are testing this week. At least your janitor realized it.:rotfl: Its not helping me with the DH away. I am on my way to take a nap. Then will fertilize the yard so the sprinklers hit it in the morning.

Sorry to hear so many with cold, allergies and other ailments. Hope you all get to feeling better.

Ah yes, the joys of low-carb living. Can't complain though, as dh and I have lost 10+ pounds each since the beginning of the year on it. I saw some soy noodles in the grocery store that I may just have to try. Because you're right--cabbage is not noodles, just like mashed cauliflower is not mashed potatoes. :sad2:

what can you eat for 1506 calories :scared1: thats what I learn from Debbie.. I am only allowed to eat 1506 calories to meet my goal :faint: .. What Goal ??????:rotfl2:

hmm eating candy corn kisses will not help me reach my goal.. came to work and my co worker just came back from Hershey and gave me bagssss of candy corn kisses...:goodvibes :guilty: :rolleyes1

Ang, when I checked my heart was back in rhythm this morning. :thumbsup2 I was worried as I have not had any problems since the procedure and am so hoping to be one of the lucky ones who stays well for years. I am not sure I am willing to risk my life on having some of the more drastic procedures. Have you not noticed that it is really the janitor that runs a school and is usually the most intelligent one there?:worship: I am not as sick as I was yesterday so I have hopes of this being short lived. I was able to drive Tom bowling but I stayed in the car and rested. I was not in any shape to be driving through town any old way. I hope you and Will get better and that the tests come out alright, daylight savings time or not. My one gs has his science grade all the way up to a "D" last I heard. We shall not discuss his English grade. Shame he does not have anyone to help him that area.:wizard:

Ants, many a truth has been said by accident. :lmao:(Blustery Linda Day) Candy corn is not the worst thing, if you can eat just a few and not the whole bag. Calories in, calories out, except in low carb, which is why I like it. I have to restrict WHAT I eat and not how much. Have adjusted to where I do not want that much anymore either.

TB, I promise you that if you eat mashed cauliflower long enough it DOES taste like mashed potatoes, in fact you will no longer like the real thing. Do you add things to yours? I do and it is my favorite snack for when I am super hungry. Amazing what adding a handful of sharp cheese on top will do for the taste of almost anything. I could not live without my low carb chocolate bars either. Might not lose vast amounts at a time but I have not gained anything back in these years and usually drop a few, sometimes dozens, of pounds by the end of the year. I have loads of recipes if you tell me what you are craving. :woohoo: There are rice noodles that "Hungry Girl" reccomends but I have not found them yet. I have used bean sprouts in an emergency but they are not too good. Spaghetti Squash is good but labor intensive and a bit expensive. I have no problem 'taking' about politics or religion with anyone who feels as I do, that everyone is entitled to their own ideas and is not required to agree. I do not remember ever being young enough to know it all. I know what I think but I like hearing other pov's. Heck, I watch CNN and Fox.:lmao:

JM, I need to Weed n Feed but it has to rain first. I am too cheap and lazy to water the yard and I have such a small one. :yay:

WIC, you can do so many money saving things when you are not working. A penny saved IS a penny earned. I used to make multiples of meals and freeze some for when I did not feel like cooking and then there are yardsales and all sort of things. You do not get a paycheck for doing them but they are valuable things. Just make sure you do not spoil your family too much or it will be rough on them when you get your next job. I read an article today about borrowing from your 401K. You have to pay it back in five years or it is due immediately if you lose your job but if you pay it back with that time period you do not have to pay penalties or taxes. :teacher:

Pooh, ahhh but I do not want my children to feel badly when I am gone. I wrote a letter to my son affirming the fact that I love him etc. just in case I do not see him again in this world. I worry that it might make him feel worse though. You cannot control anyone else, you can only control how you react to them. I choose love. It is easier on me if even it does not matter to them.

Back to the big red chair for me. I am taking it easy.

SG

TB,
Google soy and hypothyroidism. Soy tends to throw off the TSH levels in people with thyroid issues. That and green vegetables like brussle sprouts and my favorite broccoli. You will probably do better with the whole wheat pasta in small portions than the soy noodles.

Wic,
I hope if you choose to go to the training that you learn things that will help in your job search. It would stink to drive there and learn nothing new.

Isn't it nice to have lots of time to cook dinner? If you love lasagna it is faster to make baked mostaccoli. Boil your noodles and mix in the cheese mixture from lasagna, sauce and whatever else you use in lasagna and top with motz and pop it in the oven. It is just as good as lasagna in half the time.

Linda,
I am so glad to hear your heart beat is back in sync. I worry about you. Gotta love that big red chair.

Melissa,
How did the lawn go?

Ang

Linda, it was good to hear your heart was better. You take care of yourself.

Ang, I will have to try you Lasagna/casserol recipe. I didn't spell that correctly did I? Got the yard fertilized, just used a spreader. I have a bunch left over, wondering if I can do it again in a month. It sure needs it. I would love to cut back on water, but with us possibly selling the house next year or the year after, need to get it in shape to compete with others in the neighborhood. At least the house came with a sprinkler system, the only bad thing is it wakes me up every Wednesday morning at 4:00am when it comes on. Hopefully it will start raining here again soon.

Ok, you guys keep discussing diets. I think you jinxed me. Went to the doctor this morning and when I got on the scale, I wasn't happy that the big weight had to be moved over. But I have been a complete pig this week. I have food in my mouth every time I turn around. Think I will get my scrapbooking stuff out, maybe that will keep me from eating. Oh, thinking about trying to make my own jewelry now also. That should be interesting.

Well, I need to go find the number for the refrigerator repair guy. He was here yesterday and I didn't even test the thing until late last night and my ice maker and water dispenser don't work at all now. Before it was just the ice maker because the door wouldn't shut, causing the ice to melt and become one big clump. I think he forgot to plug something back in.

Wic, I hope you learn something at your training today and tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a great day.

I just wanted to say I will talk with you all soon I am going to be off the boards for awhile after tomorrow, I am having back surgery so I will be out of comish for awhile. Take care all.

Ms. Linda please take care of that heart of yours it means so much to all of us and we want nothing to happen to you!!!!:grouphug:

Nancy, I have another friend, down the street having similar surgery at about the same time. From what I understand back pain is one of the worst things. We will all be thinking of you and hoping for a quick recovery. Since you were an athlete I think that will make recuperation easier. I hope I am right.

JM, cannot you not set your sprinklers for another time of day? :thumbsup2 I used to make lasagna without cooking the noodles, which was far easier. You just add a bit more liquid and cover with foil. The secret to a good diet is to decide what your favorite foods are and eliminate them. If you eat food that you do not like you do not want seconds. So simple, so impossible to do. I think your refrigerator man forgot to turn the water back on. The water line to the fridge should have a separate shut off valve.

Ang, you and Will can come and sit in my big red chair. It is the best seat in the house. I love it, you can tell by the big butt imprint.:rotfl2:

Has anyone else checked out this D23 thing? I was watching The View and they told about an official Disney site for chat etc. so I went to check it out. $75 to join. I think I will stay right here, that is enough to pay for one night at WDW!

SG

Oh, Pooh - do be gentle with yourself and take lots of pain meds!! We'll be thinking of you and sending lots of healing dust.

SG - what fool would pay $75 to join a Disney site???? I'd fear the folks that do might be a bit too snobbish for moi. ;)

Diets??? Oh, Lordy, me....my pants are so tight I don't know what do...keep thinking is only I could go for a walk everyday to get my brain in gear and then I'd not eat as much..it's not that I eat a lot, it's what I eat and absolutely no exercise.

Used to walk 6 mi a day, but I'd be happy to start with walking around the cul-de-sac and not be out of breath....have probably posted this before, but I need a destination to walk...you know, like a Mall or nice little shop....or Ben and Jerry's. :rotfl:

Linda, yes, do take care of that heart, please! Another reason is (that) we want no over doin' it so you'll have plenty of energy for your WDW visit. ::yes::

Oh I hope that your neighbor does well too!! Yes back pain is the worst pain I think you can have but this is all stemming from my feet and leg pain and found that I have 2 blown disk and a narrowing of the spine.

Oh, Pooh - do be gentle with yourself and take lots of pain meds!! We'll be thinking of you and sending lots of healing dust.

Thank you M&N for the healing dust. I should be down for about 2 weeks or maybe 3 depends on how I feel but if they have to go in and fuse anything then it will be alot longer :confused3

Nancy I wish you well during your surgery and a speedy recovery.

Ang, kind of limited on the sprinklers. Can only water one day a week and it can't be from 8am-6pm. Most people water early in the morning. My poor neighbors got caught watering after 8am and it cost them $100.:scared1:

Seriously, cut out my favorite foods. That is the bad thing. I don't eat anything diet. If it has the words diet, low-sugar, low fat it doesn't come in my house. My neighbor and I will start walking again tomorrow.:yay: I need to do my yoga again also. Too tired right now.

I meant to mention the D23 website this morning when I posted. I wouldn't pay that much either. I think they should give it to me for free since I have AP's. Most parks you get discounts in all stores and on all foods with annual passes, but not WDW. Sorry, didn't mean to gripe about WDW, that was very bad of me. But $75 is crazy and I think they are really nuts to start something like in this economy.

M&N, I often read reviews of different things about Disney and am often taken by those who think the prices are very reasonable and those who do not. I believe the difference is where you live. If you live in an urban setting where you are used to paying $10 bucks for a burger and extra for fries it would seem reasonable but if you live in a rural area where an all you can eat buffet, with some pretty good grub, can be had for far under $10 not so much so. I think that more folks, in this economy, are thinking a bit differently nowadays though,. I have swanky Disney friends and more down to earth ones and love them all! (as long as they do not require I dress up i.e. wear shoes and such):lmao: The further you walk away from the kitchen the skinnier you get, as long as there are no fast food restaurants on your route.:rotfl:

JM, I hear you on diet foods. It seems that when something says diet you feel entitled to eat twice, or thrice, as much and that does not help a bit. We are supposed to only eat food from the perimeter of the grocery, fruits and veggies, meats, dairy etc. and leave the center aisles away where such things as Oreos lurk. :woohoo: I think that the D23 thing was probably in the works back when we were all still in denial but I still do not see how they could compete with the DIS any old way. We are free to speak truths here and I doubt that an official site would encourage anything but magical thoughts.:wizard:

Nancy, I echo M&N in that you should make sure to take enough pain pills. If you hurt you will not move and if you do not move/exercise you will not get better. I know. Please keep in touch when you can and let us know how things are going. We care.

well majority of the DIS'ers who knew about D23 already have signed in :faint: so that means it is the same peeps from DIS and D23???:thumbsup2 :lmao: :scratchin

Hi Everyone, I just got off the phone with Nancy...her surgery went well, except for the fact that she can't really feel one of her legs and her foot, they feel like they are asleep. The doctors told her it could be caused from swelling, so they are taking the wait and see approach right now.

She is being kept overnight, she sounded pretty loopy, she was pretty medicated.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Kathy

Thank you so much for letting us..she's been in my thoughts all day.

When you talk with please tell her we are holding her very near in heart and prayer.
Christine

:yay: Glad to hear she made it through surgery okay, and hope the recovery goes better and faster than expected. Thanks for the update!

Linda--glad your ticker straightened up and started working properly again. I never thought about putting cheese on the mashed cauliflower, which is really weird, because I often put cheese on mashed potatoes. Sometimes the old brain just doesn't make those obvious connections! $75 for D23? Puh-lease.

Ang--No soy? I could probably manage that, but no broccoli? You're killing me!

JM--Congrats on getting the lawn fertilized! Care to come here and fertilize mine? Unfortunately, I'm going to have to mow it first. :scared1: Hard to do when it keeps snowing,

Timmy--Hershey's candy corn kisses OMG those things are so freaking good! All the yum of candy corn mixed with all the fat of chocolate--does it get any better?

M&N--I know what you mean about the pants. I was there a couple of months ago, and the only thing that kept me from the candy corn kisses was how much I hate shopping for clothes!

Well, kids and dh are home now, so gotta run!

Kathy, thanks for the update on Nancy. When you talk to here again, tell her she is in my thoughts also, as I am sure she is in everyones.

I'm waiting on my neighbor so we can go walking. I am sure from yesterday, but don't want to stop. It wore me out though. On top of the walk and then not sleeping, I layed down and had a 3 hour nap after picking up Jacob. And still had no problem sleeping last night.

Ok, I know I am married and don't ever plan on getting married again, but I still watch wedding shows. Did any of you see the one on WE about Disney weddings. Wow, maybe I can talk the DH into renewing our vows.

The DH emailed me and said it was snowing when he got of the Metro in DC this morning. Wish I was there. I know, all of you with snow are ready for it to be gone.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday!!!
Melissa
