Sept. 2009 @ WDW! Be a Pop Tart 2009~come share your(Bounce Back or NOT)Dates !!!

what I was suggesting was to just do it all over again... since not well verse with FB I would take the easy way in and out... wish we can do that with life too.. it is an easy way in.. but ohhhhhhhh boy a hard way out

Think I'll do that today, then let you all know my new name. :)

BTW.. love the pictures Ohhhh my God she is getting bigger by the minute.. enough Okra and Spinach for her you hear!!!!:rotfl2:

Can you believe she was 6 mos old on March 2nd!! Time flies!! She is sitting up nicely too, but absolutely no interest in trying to crawl...fine by me if she takes her time moving all about. ::yes::
I'm so glad you like the photos - could not resist sharing. The one in the coat was taken the day before they left for Florida the last week of Feb and the rest were on her "Florida Vacation". She's working on her first piece of pizza crust and loved it! Such a life!:thumbsup2

I before Mt. Dew I was addicted to mello yello thats what we had at the camp where dad works.. and we get it for recess if you dont want milk or chocolate milk then it is mello yello.. who would want to eat a thing of onion or tomato with milk or chocomilk??? Def'ly mello yello!!!!

I used to LOVE Mello Yellow, but Mt Dew is tooooo sweet even for me.

I am excited with this crock pot thing
OH!!!!! Crockpots are the best!! Yesterday morning we loaded the crockpot with pork ribs and did not another thing until we made some veggies and smashed potatoes just before supper. You will LOVE it!!:woohoo:

Wic, I agree about not paying off the car with 401K money. I fully understand though. It would have been a very slip Christmas and probably Mac and Cheese for all meals if we had not paid off my truck with some of the money from selling our last house.

Linda, great news you are spending the day with your daughter. Hope you have a fantastic time.

Minnie&NaNa, we have rattlesnakes and scorpions here also. My poor boxer, Bubblegum, got stung by a scorpion in the house and we found a dead one on the patio. We looked it up on the internet and it said the ones around here are too small to be dangerous. I personally haven't seen a rattlesnake and hope I never do. I read a TR of someone staying in a condo in Orlando and there was a copperhead outside the front door.:scared1: Different bugs for different areas.

As someone that has to move every couple of years, I just look at it as an adventure and an opportunity to meet people I never would.

Well the DH is on his way to DC. There was a large wreck with an overturned tanker on I-4 this morning and he had to detour off the interstate and called me to say he just got on I-95 and passed I-4 and they weren't letting anyone head west either. Must be bad.

I have a meeting with one of Jacob's teachers today. The mandatory state tests are next week so she wanted to meet with all the parents. Seems like she should have done this a couple of weeks ago.:confused3 Oh, she also sent home a four page homework paper last night to be turned in on Monday to help practice for the test. Shouldn't that have been done sooner also. I did get a progress report a week before all grades had to be turned in this time. Still had some grades missing. Don't know how they can do that?

Well, I really need to shampoo carpets. Wish I could stay on here all day.
TGIF

SG, I hope you have the most wonderful day tomorrow! Slumdog Millionaire is supposed to be excellent.

Pooh, how are doing? Is your heart beginning to mend a bit? I know you still miss Peanut.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful (as possible) TGIF!

I'm going to do some more research on the creepy crawlies in Phoenix...just in case. OR he cold apply for an at home client services manager position (with the possibility of director in the future and we could move anywhere..like somewhere really pretty and very walkable....Charleston? ;) )

Phoenix would only happen with an offer too good to refuse. Dsil's mother is seriously ill. It's an easy 8 hour drive to see her twice a yr and only a 90 min flight, so dsil goes about every 3 mos. Not so from Phoenix, so not anyone's first choice.

Nevertheless, I like to think there is a silver lining to every life challenge.:thumbsup2

Yes, thank you for remembering. it is still hard for me to go into their room so I leave it up to my husband to do all of the feeding now but tonight we are going in and cleaning pens and that is going to be ruff.

How is everything your way?

Melissa,
Will is 14 and graduating 8th grade the end of May.

Timmy,
If you will eat that combo of food how could you even tast pee in lemonade?

I love the hello kitty croc pot by the way. Did you buy it?

M&N,
Not sure about face book but I can tell you that the scorpions and snakes are more afraid of you than you are of them. Just make sure your yard has a brick fencing around it and keep the gate closed and those things won't get in. Either that or live in the city. I am sure if you look up poisonous bugs and snakes you will find that you have a lot of dangerous critters living in the same area you are now. I know in Illinois we have black widow and brown recluse spiders along with copper head, water moccasin, and cotton mouth snakes. I have never seen any of those and I live in the country where they would be more likely to be found. Oh wait when I was little my brother caught and brought home a water moccasin and if he was that stupid and didn't get bit I would think the odds would be slim of anyone getting bit.

Wic,
Yeah, for you. I didn't think you were one to dwell on bad for too long. Glad you are taking it for the challenge and blessing it can be if you choose to make it such. How about something in the medical or legal field those are always pretty stable? Even if it is in a hospital medical office or insurance billing. Just something to think of if you haven't already.

Yup, I only gave myself that day to wallow in self pity, now it's time to look forward to a whole new future! I honestly don't know what I want to do with myself now though. I have outplacement training next week, so maybe they will be able to listen to my likes and dislikes and give me a clue as to what may be a good fit going forward :confused3 I do know that I'm completely done with the wire and cable industry though..even if they called me back, I'd turn it down. :headache:

I did see something in the paper about training to be a medical transcriptionists from home? There's a training seminar next Wednesday night, we'll see if I can go or not...I've got 2 days of training next week (wed.thurs).

Medical transcription from home? I have my medical transcription certificate I got years ago from a local community college when they told me of all the wonderful work from home opportunities I would have. When I graduated I found that any clinic or hospital in a 2 hour drive of where I live had been saturated with Medical Transcriptionists from the local colleges and that without 2 years experience nobody was willing to give me I could not get hired. Now keep in mind I live in small town USA so there are not all the choices that big cities have.

Honestly, if the jobs are out there in your area, you type fast enough, and take a medical terminology course at your local college you can get a job in medical transcription. Don't waste your money on the whole 2 year course would be my advice. Then once you have your 2 years experience you can work for the work at home companies.

The most important thing is learning to break down the medical words and understand what they mean and how to spell them. The foreign accents are always fun interpreting too but then you get a daily challenge to keep it fun. lol

Howdy there gals! Lots has happened since I last dropped by. My dd called to tell me that they are cutting her hours at work. She works for a major company. Better than a layoff but still a lot of changes. I have lived through so many worse things that I am not worried. As long as I have a roof and a crust those I love will also. Maybe they will not complain about either one? :confused3

Ants, trying to take a shower is not as good as actually doing so. :lmao: I did a search on FB and worm and I were right btw. Be careful out there! The secret to crockpots is not to put much liquid in them. Because of the slow cooking and covered dish the liquid does not evaporate like many other cooking styles do. I use salad dressings for the tiny bit of liquid I do use as it adds a lot of flavor as well. Add hard veggies, potatoes, carrots etc. with the meat and then add the softer ones later. I have loads of recipes if you want.

WIC, both my dd and ds have been medical transcriptionists. I once asked my ds why she did not work from home and she told me that there was too much liability involved, lawsuits etc. If they decide to make medical records electronic there may well be a huge need for people to do that. JMO Beware of work at home schemes, they are often rip offs. I am just a bundle of good news today. I am sorry.

M&N, Ang is right. There is something everywhere. It is just that you and I are used to our own 'stuff' and a bit skittish about new 'stuff'. If it were so bad anywhere people would not live there in abundance. BTW, I vote for Charleston. It is lovely and I could come visit. Picture of Sophia? I missed that. I have to go back and see if I can find it. Has she gotten you trained yet?:rotfl2: I went back and saw them. I love the last one best. Is she puckering up to give you a kiss?

JM, I shampoo my own carpets as well, with my own machine. Might not work as well as the commercial ones but then I can do them more often. Hope you got them all done and they are dry now. Take tomorrow off, I give you permission. :rolleyes1 I am so glad that you hubby was not involved in the accident and sorely sorry for those who were. When I get stuck in traffic because of such a thing I say a prayer of thanks for those things. Gets rid of the frustration too. :) I think teachers should get report cards as well as the students. It would make the good ones better and maybe get rid of some of the bad ones.

Nancy, thank you for the kind thoughts. Are you still seeing your dil and grands? I keep wondering how that is going but am afraid you get sick of me asking. I know how it feels.

I have my front gardens all mulched and they look pretty, not as pretty as they will in a short time when all the flowers start popping up. It was a lovely, barefoot day today.

SG

I always think of something at the last minute and this is such a big thing. I won! I won! They announced that they are going to enlarge the library for the new school. That has to mean new books as well. I am so happy!

but isnt it better to try than not even plan/think about doing it :p does a lil effort count ????

Ohhhhhhhhh and ones I get the hang of Crocpotting.. yessssssssss I would need all those recipe!!!:dance3: :rolleyes1

OOps, WIC, Ang is more correct than I am. Both my dd and ds were medical coders. That is a whole different thing. I am sorry. I use to do typing for legal firms way back in the day, $1 a page because there could not be any typeovers or errors. I enjoyed it.

Timmie, I have seen MM crockpots at World of Disney. I imagine the food would taste better in one. :rotfl: BTW, your 'carp' sounds a bit fishy to me. :rolleyes1

Ohhhhhhhhhh I think I what I am going to get for my BDay $$ from the Mouse.. I hope I can spend it outside the parks and get that Crockpot... :goodvibes

dont blame me.. I learn about the CARP from Gmax... finally was able to touched base with her this morning and I talk all the carp I can talk about hahahaha poor Gmax...

ANG... Gmax is also a TL virgin!!! What are you doing on the Sunday that we are there... if nothing major is planned I am thinking TL wooohooo

Timmy,
Cool GMax is up for a water park. Only one question are you crazy wanting to go to TL on a weekend? Honestly weekends are nutso at water parks. Do you want to fight for a place to sit?

Linda,
Medical coding is a good paying job but kind of boring. I at one point worked for a health insurance company paying medical bills. We had to know all the CPT and ICD-9 codes and what they stood for to see if they were covered by the plan. There are so many office aspects of the medical field and they pay pretty good too. It's just finding the jobs that is hardest.

I'm still not sure what I want to do going forward....maybe I'll go look into working at a travel agency, or go back to school for a while. I don't know, I'm soooo confused :confused3

Good for you, wic!!

I considered working for one of the Disney Travel Agencies (was invited by the owner). Although it is an excellent agency, with very good customer service, after giving it much thought, decided against it - knew I'd hate the the pressure of constantly checking for discounts, even though most clients would not be aware of all the discounts, the way we are on the boards.

Also, most of the Disney Travel Agencies do not add a newbie to the website right away or refer clients until the new agent has brought in $5000 in sales...which isn't much considering how expensive a WDW pkg can be for a family. Nevertheless, a tiny commission on top of all that pressure....well, I would have been good at it when I was younger....I figure it is good to know I'm passed my prime in that profession. ::yes::

On top of that...commission is a portion of the 10% (and the agent pays a fee to the host agency), so the real money to made is in booking cruises. I will never take a cruise, so would not be much help in that department. :rotfl:

...sigh....kudos to you, wic, if you become a TA - maybe you planned on working in an actual office? I was offered a TA job by AAA, but when in the office interviewing, I heard 2 agents give misinformation about Disney and knew that would drive me nuts!! I'm too picky, I know. Oh,well...this was 3 years ago - maybe if it happened now I'd rethink my decision.;)

Good luck to you!!:goodvibes

Actually, the two times we stayed at WDW, we went to TL for evening EMH on a Saturday. The place would be empty. Only problem, they shut down the waves once it gets dark, they also closed the Crush N Gusher once it got dark. Oh, and the lazy river had a lot of leaves in it by that time too. Jacob and I could possibly stay for one night. The DH probably wouldn't mind since he would be able to paint his figures and not be bothered by us. And he could watch the dogs, so no kennel charges.

Now that would make me want to work there so I could correct everyone. Aren't I horrible.

Wic, I think it is great you are exploring different jobs. I have worked as an assistant to a real estate agent (didn't pay well at all), worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield. Loved that job. Started out as the horrible person that denied claims when not precertified, but eventually made supervisor over the claims area. Then we moved to DC where I was an administrative assistant in an Occupational Health Office. This was a great job also. Paid fairly well, because it was the next step down from the office manager. The office performed employment physicals for biotech companies and also provided workers comp treatment for those employees. I collected all the results and notified companies once the employee was clear to work.

Then in Texas I was a property and casualty insurance agent. I liked it because you never knew what was going to happen in a day. So love the people that call, I'm closing on my house today and need insurance.:scared1: The people I worked for drove me crazy, part of the reason I am not working now. I just needed a break.

So Wic, apply for different positions and during the interview you can determine if you think you would enjoy working there. You can always turn down a position. I have a hard time doing it, but I've learned, being miserable in a job isn't worth it.

The DH's Aunt and Uncle are coming this afternoon and I am still trying to get the house clean. Hope you all have a great Saturday!!! What is everyone doing this weekend?

Oh I'm definately going to keep my options open, I'm curious to see what the outplacement people think my "perfect" job will be when I go and see them next week.

I need to report into unemployment on Monday and tell them what I did this week...oh joy!

Have a good Saturday everyone.

Go to TL! Why should you worry about fighting the crowds? I would put you guys up against anyone else any old time. Bet Nancy could teach you a few moves if you want and if you do not feel like fighting you could always kill them with laughter or kindness. :lmao:

Timmie, blame it on poor GMax? She will get ya for that ya know. Did you ever notice that I use upgraded words to fill in for ones that I am certain are in the DIS filter? I have always gotten away with it except for once when I used the word 'assume'. :confused3 Yep, cash is the best present. One size fits all and never a need to return for a different size, folks generally will not upgrade the amount.

JM, I used to work for BCBS myself and I liked it. I also worked for a well known moving company and got in trouble for correcting my boss' dictated letters. I have never gotten the knack of shorthand but used a dictaphone, dating myself, and could type so fast that I could type as a person spoke in real time if need be. I love to type but my skills have eroded with the advent of computers. They allow you to make mistakes and that is not a good thing. ;) Remember your guests are coming to see you and not your house. Hope you enjoy the visit.

Ang, I am terrible at typing numbers unless using a keypad so medical coding would not do for me at all. Heck, I can never remember the room number of any motel I am at. Tom can remember the number of the hotel from 20 years ago. Go figure.

M&N, that is interesting, the Disney travel thing. I met a lady at DW last September and told her about the DIS and now she is emailing me that she is a Disney travel consultant now. I wondered how that happened so quickly. I know someone who is one and does quite well but then she does other trips as well. She is the one taking my sister to Europe for two weeks, for free. She has been doing so for many years though. I think you would make a great travel agent. There are jobs answering phone for companies from home. You will not get rich but it is something you can do on your own time.

WIC, do they have a program that will pay you to go back to school? That sounds like a good option, if you pick a profession where there will be jobs to be had. Some fields are struggling and some are overloaded with applicants. I would not think that a travel agent would be a good job to have in this economy. I thought of you last night. 20/20 had a program on work at home scams.

I have the trash all ready to go. Without my pickup I am forced to tarp the truck of my nice car and take it to the dump that way. Had to buy an upgraded trash bag to make it less messy though. I cooked Tom a good breakfast and fixed him some trays of food to hold him until I return. He has a rough life. Might have to check the batteries in the remote as that is the only thing he will miss if it quits working. Sometimes it pays that he is so low energy. :dance3:
