Sept. 2009 @ WDW! Be a Pop Tart 2009~come share your(Bounce Back or NOT)Dates !!!

Sorry I've been pretty much MIA lately. Darned real life. I've checked in a few times, but never took the time to post, so here goes.

Welcome new peeps!

Poohbear: Hope all went well with the cleaning last night--I know it couldn't have been easy.

Timmy: Sorry/glad your mom left. I know you miss her/are happy to have your life back. I have the same relationship with my dad--love him, love to spend time with him, and love to see him head for home as well! Count me in on the Mountain Dew fan club, but understand if I pass on anything from you in fear that it might contain your "secret recipe." :scared1: J/K--I worked in a "carppy" restaurant many, many years ago, and oh the tales I could tell. . . .

Linda: Hope you have fun at Slumdog! At least you know how your dd is likely to behave, so you can set your expections low. Low expectations are the key to not being disappointed!

jmskinner: Ugh--computer problems. :headache: BTDT too many times, but couldn't life without them either! Glad they're solved, and too funny about the "slam" making it work.

Kris: Typhoon Lagoon all the way! I love the slides, but we could spend all day floating in the lagoon riding the waves. Thanks for the flair, and I'm really trying to carve out some time next week to set up FB.

Cheryl: Thanks for the FB tip! Next week, fingers crossed.

Ang: We were also all  last week, but are finally on the mend, too. My dd is Twilight obsessed, so I'm sure once I do get on FB she'll hack in and explore Vampire Wars. Then I'll never get the computer.

Wic: So sorry to hear about your layoff, but glad you're feeling better about it. It's a challenge, but also an opportunity to try something new. Good luck!

M&N: Sorry about your financial troubles, and your dsil's job issues. It's everywhere these days.

My dh was in line for a transfer from WA state to TX, but now it looks like a layoff is more likely (after 10 years with the company). Probably just as well, as selling our house would be a nightmare, and dh is less than enthusiastic about his current employer. At least the timing is good--we expect he'll be finished there right around the beginning of summer when the kids get out of school, so we should be able to all spend some time together. We have a little boat that we like to take out camping, and dock space is much easier to find during the week than on the weekend.

Of course, all this comes just as dd's orthodontist (who has been monitoring her teeth for 3 years) decides it's time to put braces on. When it rains, it pours, right? At least the next Disney trip is already paid for, so we weren't too tempted to cancel it. 3 weeks from today, we'll be waking up at POP! :woohoo:

Have a great weekend, everybody!

Jennifer: Sorry about your husbands job, but sounds like you are ready for it.

SG: Yes, I know the family is here to see me, but you have no idea how bad this house was. At least we don't use the front part of the house so it looks clean if someone comes to the door.

My DH's family took me to dinner tonight. Jacob was there but of course he wouldn't eat. I'll fix him some Mac and Cheese later. Got the house almost clean. Just need to put some clothes away (they got thrown in a closet at the last moment before company arrived) and clean my bathroom.

We had a nice visit. They have sold most of what they own and just travel the country now in their camping trailer. They think their transmission is going out so they may be stuck. I've offered them my truck to drive. Gives me a chance to drive the Mustang.

Oh, and I ordered some clothes from Kohls and they came today. Only one item has to be returned. I have to order by mail because if I step foot in that store I go completely nuts and grab one of everything.

No FB here at the other realm but dis does work...:thumbsup2

Timmie, blame it on poor GMax? She will get ya for that ya know. Did you ever notice that I use upgraded words to fill in for ones that I am certain are in the DIS filter? I have always gotten away with it except for once when I used the word 'assume'. :confused3 Yep, cash is the best present. One size fits all and never a need to return for a different size, folks generally will not upgrade the amount.

SG

Ms. Linda will you please lower the voice down I dont want Gmax hearing you hahahahaha

yeah!!! mom has been calling everyday.. it has been very very hot back home.. as off yesterday two died of heat stroke :faint: so now she sorta kinda miss the snow :sad2:

Do I have you at my FB ??? Are you my friend ??? hmmmm am not sure... Which one are you ???? I have to check this when I get home...

Ok time to go walk a bit... the weather have been so nice everybody decided to stay away from our EMR!! Praise the Lord!!!!!!!:worship:

 for your DH !!!

I had a lovely day yesterday. No pressure, no worries, much. I had some time to just window shop. Something I seldom get to do because of the things I MUST do. My poor dd inherited her mother's bowling skills, none. She threw to the right so I suggested that she stand further to the
RIGHT when she threw the ball. (Yes, I know what I was saying). True to form she went further LEFT and managed to hit more pins. :lmao: :rotfl: :confused3 :rotfl2: Slumdog was great. I enjoyed being the only one in the small audience that knew the name of the third Musketeer. I knew that was going to be the final question. The people beside me groaned when he picked Aramis. It is sort of akin to thinking that Frankenstein is the name of the monster. ;) D'Artagnan was their guess. Dd is due after church for us to go see "Grease". She resisted liking the same movies as I growing up but I guess she has weakened in HER old age. Tom will going with us. I could not leave him two days in a row. Morals are darned inconvenient sometimes.

Timmie, you are everybody's friend, FB or no. :worship:

JM, my house used to be an apartment house so it has two front doors and I used to only answer the one on the cleanest part of the house. :woohoo: I am sure everything looked fine, we tend to notice our own details more than others do. I know some folks who sold their home and travel in a small vehicle. I am in awe of those who can do that and stay married. :worship: I do not think I could stand to be in that small a space with just me.

TB, sounds as if you have a plan to ride out this financial storm. I am glad that you might not have to move. There are upsides to this economy although it is much harder for some to see than others. I know couples around these parts that are having pitch ins to get together instead of going out places. I like the idea better and so do my grands.

WIC, I was watching Suze Orman last night and she echoed the idea that it is not good to take out of retirement accounts. They cannot be touched by a lawsuit or bankruptcy. However she did say that if you had the funds in something that had lost vast amounts and you have loans with high interest rates it might be the ONLY time, other than being faced with being on the streets, to tap them. If you have a leased vehicle you can get good deals on buying right now. Could you get a new loan at a lower payment for a bit longer time maybe? Do you have an extra vehicle you could sell to pay for the ones you want to keep? I remember a similar situation when I was growing up and it was stressful. I know something good is coming you way, I just want it to come NOW!:yay:

M&N, thank you for the kind words. We had a nice time but as long as we do not actually talk we get along. She is very conservative and while I live that way I am more liberal in what others do with their lives. She cannot tolerate any views but what her church says. It is a scary church.:scared1: I was very quiet. It was hard but I did it, out of love.

How did everyone do with this one hour thingie...
Its catching up with me today:hourglass
Didn't like getting up in the dark, taking Matthew to school in the dark...it was still dark when I got home...it was so tempting to just crawl back into bed, but I didn't, I came here instead!

It didn't bother me until we were in the truck to go to school and I couldn't figure out why it was so dark. Once I realized why it was dark, I got worried, "Did I change the alarm clock? Are we late for school?" Then I realized I had and I was just being stupid.

I actually remembered how to change the time in my truck without getting out the handbook.:yay:

By the way, does anyone agree with me that the week time changes is not a good week for state mandatory tests?:confused3

Melissa

No Ms. Linda never sick of your questions at all. the ex-daughter in law is still well in nice terms HER! but I didn't get to see my grandson this past weekend due to chicken pox well thats what she said I just don't believe a word that comes out of her mouth. Everytime I am supposed to see for the last few weeks "something has come up".

How was your weekend with your daughter? Oh how I hope it went well! Hurry we all need to hear.

How did everyone do with this one hour thingie...

:crazy2: Me no like daylight savings. :sad2: At least we don't have mandatory testing in school this week--that's insane!

We were supposed to get a snow day today, but no luck. We could have at least had a 2 hour delay to give us time to adjust to getting up earlier, don't you think?

Have a great Monday everyone!

I came here instead!

:faint:

Well today I get my CP ... hopefully work will not to be tooooooo busy that I can take off early and play with it.. I will tell you tomorrow morning what happend...

Melissa

yesterday morning... a bunch were late at work.. with the same excuses... nobody had turn their clock since they were not aware or have forgotten or had gotten confused :confused3

Sorry dont know if kids here have mandatory testing... so got no solid opinion about it....:guilty:

Snow ??? you guys were expecting snow ???? :sad2: here it is 58 and a Pooh Bear Linda Day... Blusterry !!!!!!!! everything is flying outside :scared1: and looking at the way the weather is trekking its charts... no more snow for me... unless I come visit you :rotfl:

Well my Monday is just about to start...mom woke me up when she called and told me she cant sleep... she is 12 hours ahead our time... I hope your Monday is going well also... :grouphug:

Timmie, I would be offended at calling a blustery day a Linda day but truth is truth so I shall not.:lmao:

Pooh, weekend was nice. I just wish I could sit and talk to my daughter the way I do with others. If I pretend to be other than who I am she might like it better but it would not be ME she liked. My grands and I get along just swell. It could be your ex dil is telling the truth. Do as I do and take what you get. I see far better parents than I who have difficult children. It soothes me a bit, I spent far too many years trying to figure out where I went wrong. :confused3

Diva K, I used to love stroganov. I can have everything but the noodles now. Not the same though. I have been known to use shredded cabbage in place of noodles, not the same. Shucks. Do you have a team you are rooting for?:cheer2:

I have a very sore throat and cough and my heart is not behaving. I am hoping that is just part and particle and will go away when the crud does. I had to not go to the CC today for fear of giving one of the kids the crud, that they probably gave me.

To bed early for me, no sleep last night.

:scared1:  that was supposedly to be "kinda"

Bonnie... going to miss you and KB... my niece is also going to be there that same time frame.. wish it was me whos going...

Hello everyone. Hope your day's have been great. I need to try to go back and catch up on the thread from the weekend.

As for daylight savings time.....YUK!!! No good point in it IMHO. At least our school realized they had ISAT testing scheduled for this week and changed it to last week. Someone used their brain and knowing our school it was the janitor. lol

Linda,
Just read about your heart. You need to take care of that ticker of yours. I am so sad to hear it is bothering you. I hope you don't have what we got here. Will and I are still coughing and blowing our nose 3 weeks later. Let us know how it goes.

Not just expecting, my friend--we got snow yesterday. Not until after the kids left for school, though. It was above freezing though, so none of it stuck.

But this morning Mother Nature behaved better, and got us a 2 hour delay! :yay: Which is why I'm here instead of rousing the troops. Ah, glorious peace and quiet. :surfweb:

ROTFL! :rotfl2:

Tell you what, you talk politics with me, and I'll send my dad to talk to politics with your dd. Then we'd all get along just fine! :rotfl:

Diva K, I used to love stroganov. I can have everything but the noodles now. Not the same though. I have been known to use shredded cabbage in place of noodles, not the same. Shucks. Do you have a team you are rooting for?:cheer2:

Ah yes, the joys of low-carb living. Can't complain though, as dh and I have lost 10+ pounds each since the beginning of the year on it. I saw some soy noodles in the grocery store that I may just have to try. Because you're right--cabbage is not noodles, just like mashed cauliflower is not mashed potatoes. :sad2:

I have a very sore throat and cough and my heart is not behaving. I am hoping that is just part and particle and will go away when the crud does. I had to not go to the CC today for fear of giving one of the kids the crud, that they probably gave me.

Sorry to hear you're . The heart issues are especially troubling. :guilty: Take it easy and take care--hopefully it will all clear up with the crud.

:flower3: Howdy, stranger!

Thank you! The news even said there's a 5% increase in heart attacks during the first 2 weeks of daylight savings, so can't we do away with it yet???

Linda,

Everyone in my house is still hacking and coughing, too. I can't figure out if it's the end of the cold or the beginning of allergy season!

Happy Tuesday all! (It's just not the same without the Diva flair.)

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I just got through making a lasagna for tonight's supper, would have never been able to do that when I was working!

So I'm supposed to go for outplacement training tomorrow and Thursday, not sure if I want to go now....the thought of driving an hour each way is not appealling to me right now, but I know I really should go....one of my former co-workers has already backed out.

Called into the unemployment office yesterday to file for my first official week of unemployment....good times!
