Sept. 2009 @ WDW! Be a Pop Tart 2009~come share your(Bounce Back or NOT)Dates !!!

SG .... Wish Will had a grandma like you as sadly, the 2 he has could care less if they ever see him let alone spend time with him. The saddest thing is they are the losers as William would dote on them if they gave him a little attention.

Ang

Oh, Angela...this breaks my heart! How could grandmothers be so uncaring? William is a treasure and they should be ashamed of themselves.:sad2:

Sorry..when I read that it really got to me...my parents doted on DD, but not the same on DS....oh, they bought him plenty of goodies, coats, boots etc (my dad had a thing about coats and boots :confused3), but the emotional connection was missing. They favored my DD and everyone knew it.

It is just not right for a grandparent not to dote on a grandchild. It's what we were born to do!!!

I hope I have a grandson like William some day. ::yes::

SG,
I forgot to say that you are free to use my address and when he shows up I will tell them to return it to the sender and at least all that shipping time would give you a bit of a break. lol

Diva K this is so funny you should put on rails so Tom can use them.

Ms. Linda I am so glad that Tom isn't hurt just his pride.

Glad everyone else is doing well!

Just got word that DS baseball games & practices have been suspended until May 11th due to the swine flu

Will find out tomorrow if they go back to school or not next week
:teacher:

We think DSIL may have had a mild version of this flu last week - he was very sick for about 48 hours, but was out of work for 3 days. He almost went to the Dr for Tami-flu but we all thought - it's "just" a flu, so he didn't go. He had the exact symptoms described..we'll never know for sure, but when we heard the symptoms we were all sure that's what he had.

Now we know most Americans have the same mild version. Hoping it stays that way!!

Kris, you must feel a bit more in the heat of things in Texas (no pun intended. ;) )

Stay well!!

<-- dancing to the tune Celebrate You.... wooohoooo :dance3:

Hey Timmy, sorry your B-Day month is over, but I know you had a great one. And see, you weren't talking to yourself.

Ang, sorry to hear that Will's Grandma's are missing out. I never thought of my mother being Grandmotherly, but she has so much fun with Jacob. Spoils him rotten. This move has been really hard because fortunately in DC and in TX, she was close by. One of my cousin's had a Grandma that didn't like him just because he was a boy. I don't understand people. I was very blessed with a Grandmother that loved all of her Grandchildren and put them before anyone else. I strive to be just like her.

Ok, all you Facebookers, have you tried changing the language to English Pirate. It is :rotfl2:.

Have a great Friday everyone!

Kris sent me one of those emails that suggests you might add someone as a friend, but I don't know who I am, cannot log on. Sorry, Kris. :upsidedow Thank you for thinking of me. :flower3:

How DUMB is that??? :rotfl:

Timmy, Happy Birthday one last time!! :bday: (I like to celebrate all month too..I do it in my mind and give myself little treats and permission to buy things. ;)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

(does anyone else have trouble with the color working? Mine hasn't worked for a couple of weeks. I reported it on the tech board, but still not working.)

Lisa,
Hi, how is your trip planning going? Are you just waiting till June to make ADR's?

Timmy,
Happy Birthday gone bye!!! How old are you now? Do you add a year for every day you celebrate it? lol

M&N,
It is so sad the way people prefer one child over another and I understand it happens but be the adult and don't make it obvious. I bet that killed you to keep quiet about it.

The grandparent thing is an unfortunate situation with one grandmother who is mentally ill and the other who never excepted DS because of his being adopted. I think it is a full blooded German pride thing but never bothered to ask. She wouldn't even talk about the adoption and because he was an older child adoption she insisted he had to be a drug addicted child. Ignorance at it's finest as she never was the brightest bulb. lol

Their loss. The first GM saw him a lot when he was little and used him as a butler and he happily waited on her hand and foot and loved her dispite her quirks. He would talk to her on the phone and she would promise to come visit him and he loved her so much he would sit on the front step all day long everytime she promised to come see him. I tried telling her to stop doing that to him and explained how she would tear him apart at the end of the day but she didn't get it. I would try to tell him that grandma doesn't always do what she says and he should go play but little kids have all the trust in the world. As he got older he would tell her grandma I am not gonna wait for you because you make me cry. This is my mother who didn't bother to go say goodbye to my brother last year when he was on his death bed and left the life/death decisions up to me and my other brother. She also didn't bother to show up to his funeral we had in his honor. Thankfully, I finally realized DS needed to be free of that abuse and so did I. I do get the occasional message on the machine when she has bad news though.

The other never bothered to get to know him. Life goes on and I learned from them how not to be a grandparent. Someday DS will find out how real grandparents act.

On the flu topic I am wondering if the awful flu DS and I got in March wasn't this flu but that one lasted for 3-4 weeks. At least the cases here have been mild compaired to Mexico which makes me hopeful and it sounds milder than what we already got this year. Our school canceled all field trips till this passes so the kids are not taken to places with lots of people from out of the area. We have several cases in Illinois with one near here. Time will tell.

Linda,
How are you today? Was this the day Tom goes to BIL house?

Bonz,
How are you feeling. I have been thinking about you all day.

Forgot a few replies.

Kristin,
Thanks for keeping us updated with what's going on in Texas as you seem to be on the frontline of this germ. I bet DS is bored to death with no school and no sports. I wonder how long they will cancel school? Will it be till there are no more cases in your area or in the US?

Melissa,
I bet DS and your Mother miss each other. My grandmother used to send Will secret pal cards with a dollar in it every few weeks. He loved getting his own mail and I am sure she enjoyed doing it. Sadly, she passed away a couple years ago and I had to tell him who his secret pal was then. She swore me to secrecy till then.

M&N,
Do you mean the color here on the Dis? I haven't noticed problems.

Yes, the color for fonts. Cannot change it from black...seems this would be something the techs would fix. :confused3

Does yours work?

As for not being accepted because a child is adopted - I just don't understand people who think this way. However my grandchild comes, is still my grandchild! I'm so sorry you've all had to experience this lack of caring/love/support.

I hope we get to meet sometime soon at WDW. How about a couple of adopted grandmothers?? :flower3:

My mind is all awhirl with so many things that I could not sleep so I have been up since about 4. Awake longer though.

Diva K, I have already made plans to put a rail up on the wall between the toilet and the tub. :rotfl: Not that he will use it. More likely to try to use the sink which is not all that attached to the wall. sigh My friend is going to fix the door this weekend so it will open OUT! You do not change Tom, you adjust, or try to. I am so sorry that you are having to go through all this. I imagine it is causing a lot of problems in terms of daycare and such. It seems to me that they are just as likely to get sick in daycare and since even the SAHM will probably have their children out and about they might as well stay in school and just weed out the sick kids if they show up at school and send them home. JMO I see them washing things down and such but that only works if you do it on an hourly basis and then it is not reliable if someone touches something. Will you have to make up those days? Sending you a bit of magic.:wizard:

Ang, my kids did not really have grandparents either. Both sides were too old or too busy having more kids of their own. I have two grandchildren that I got the easy way and even though I have not seen them in a long time they are still my grandkids. Even if there were a divorce they would still be mine. I have never been able to find my shut off switch and do not really look anyway. I would probably favor the grandchild that was harder to love cause I am contrary but I would do my best to not let any of the others know. I tell ALL my grandkids that they are my favorites, and I am not lying. I will have two of them for the weekend. One is nearly 18, pray for me. :worship: Will is a special person and his grandparents are missing out on a lot. Wish I lived closer so I could adopt him as mine. I need more grandkids and that is part of why I work at the CC.

M&N, do you have trouble with your font colors when sending email? If so you might just need to change your settings to html. I have problems with my laptop but have not bothered to fix things. Too many other things to do I guess. I hope your family is all well now and will stay that way. BTW, I think the reason that the religious orders do not take folks over a certain age is because many of us might contemplate that in our later years and they are having enough trouble supporting the retired community they already have. Is that something that you would really want to do? The only other alternative is to break the law and get put in a minimum security prison. (not kidding) :rotfl: It is MY plan, want to join me? Where is one with a really good library?

Melissa, I used to buy children's books and read them on tape and mail the book and tape to my nieces and nephews. That might be a way for your mom and son to keep in contact? Of course, with the computer, things are even easier. Webcam??? Regular phone calls. That connection is so important, for them both.

Timmie, congrats on the weight loss. My problem is keeping off what I have lost. I lost three pounds last week and have found over 2 of it this week. See Saw, Marjorie Dall. It is perfectly alright to talk to oneself. I do often as it is the only intelligent conversation I get around here. :rotfl: When you start answering yourself it can be a bit of a problem though. :dance3:

They can clean etc. all they want outside my room. I cannot hear them. :woohoo:

WHEW!!! I thought I had lost this post and was about in tears. Anyway here is a link to one of the threads I was telling you all about. How about giving this gal a hand and making life better for all the Newbies out there?

Have a great day folks. Hope I survive the weekend.
