Chrissy... I remember you inviting me over to NC... hmmm "I wonder what time she goes to bed....I will just tell her I need to go use the bathroom :scratchin" :lmao::lmao::rolleyes1

Timmy..there must be a better way to fund your next WDW trip!!! :lmao:
(note to self...stash book in safe location when Timmy stops by....)

My Jacob ended up in a pic of today's celebration!

The second to the last picture, the picture of the crowd walking in, that is my Jacob on the far right. I told him to smile for the camera and look where it got him.

Oh!!! Melissa!! Jacob is such a cutie!!! How neat to find that photo on line!! :woohoo:

Oh, Kris!! May 11 is a long time away! Will the school yr be extended or will an exception be made?

Of course, we all want your family to be safe and better to close the germ factories and not take any chances.

Thanks for keeping us updated.

I was going to ask the same thing Diva K, but I have a feeling they will extend the school year because don't they have to be in school so many days?

Back in San Angelo one year, a huge water main burst and a couple of schools shut down because they had no water. It actually caused problems because they didn't shut the whole system down, so the days couldn't be made up. It was only a couple of days though.

That makes it really hard on working parents that need to find care for their kids. Have there been a lot of new cases?

So far they have said we'll have school on Memorial Day...:teacher:
Still no color :headache:

Still no color even with the quick reply??? Oh, you poor thing!!!

The Waltham school district in MA, where my BFF teaches, announced any closing due to the flu will not have to be made up...thank goodness or they would be in school beyond the 4th of July!!

We just got a case of flu (they think) a few towns away and they closed the school for the week next week. I don't get it the man who got it hasn't even been in the school since last Monday and they don't even know if it is swine flu so if he infected people on Monday wouldn't they know if others caught the flu from him by now? It just doesn't make sense to me. It is a nice way to get the focus off the economy though.

DS school did cancel all field trips for the rest of the year which is not a big deal.

I wonder if the government is making exceptions for schools who close due to a health epidemic and still give them the tax dollars for the days they are closed and not expect it to be made up?

Melissa,
How cool that Jacob got in that picture.

Tried to start replying to everyone, but you all are just too :hyper2: for old, slow me to keep up, lol. Plus, with dh home full time now, I have less time than I once did for chatting. I'm slowly figuring out how to coexist with him and still get everything (well, most things) done that needs to get done around here.

Glad no one has the flu yet and while I know we all hope it turns out to be just another run of the mill flu, I'm glad the government and schools are taking it seriously and preparing for something much worse. Better to prepare for the worst unnecessarily than vice versa. Though I did think the guy sitting by the side of the road in a lawn chair and a cardboard sign that said "flu masks" was too funny--told dh all he needs is a sign and some masks and he could start his own business!

For all you August Pop Tarts, where are the park hours? Grrr. . . good thing free dining doesn't start until the 16th--Disney still has a couple of weeks to get their act together!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Diva K

Bonzi... how are you feeling ???

mornin:goodvibessore throat, ears but no fever. Main concern is DS#1, he can't just get a cold, he has to "go big". Keeping him healthy is top priority. I sat in the back of gym last night by myself:banana:DH was po'd cause I wouldn't sit with him in the middle. PS did make the kids take home all books this weekend, guess they want to be semi prepared. !st Babe Ruth game today, having thoughts of not letting him go, am I mean or what?????:scared1:

Good Morning!!!

Hope everyone feels better or stays well this weekend.

We can send as many cyber hugs as we want and still be safe. :)

Hppy Saturday!!

 :grouphug:  :grouphug:  :grouphug:  :thumbsup2

M&N, ain't you never heard of them thar computer viruses? No amount of hand washing or wringing will rid you of them neither. :lmao:

Bonz, I am sorry to hear that your wonderful little man is feeling poorly. Nowadays even the sniffles are worrisome. Hope he is feeling better now and able to think up some mischief.

Ang, I hear you. I think it better to have school and just weed out folks who are sick and send them home. More efficient. No worries around these parts if there is no school and kids need a place to go. There are many, like myself, who will take them in.

Diva K, you guys just cannot catch a break, it seems there has been one thing after another in your neck of the woods. I hope it gets contained soon and you get your color back and all is right in your world.

TB, since I prepared for the Bird Flu I have ample supplies of most anything. I was once (almost) a Boy Scout and you know their motto. :rotfl: I hate it when folks take advantage of a situation to make unnecessarily high profits off things. It is not just how much money you earn but HOW you earn it.

JM, Jacob is even cuter than I had imagined and I had imagined him to be very much so. Bet that tickles you both. Thanks for sharing.

Timmie, are you all rested up yet? When is your next trip? Will these new deals tempt you to add one, or more?

I guess I forgot to tell you all that I saved Tom's life at lunch yesterday. It happens so frequently that I do not note it often anymore. He has always been a fast eater, think shovel. When he got his false teeth it made it necessary to chew but he never does like rules, no matter how important they might be. Usually it just makes him hiccup a lot when eating but occasionally he chokes. He choked extremely bad at lunch, his face was as red as Mickey's pants. His brother was sitting next to him and did not notice anything wrong and told me that I was wrong when I said something was not right. I jumped up and ran around to him and beat the living heck of him and got him back to breathing. He has called twice to thank me. I would rather he just chew. :sad1:

Weekend going well. Boys are being very nice. Right now one is mowing graveyards and one is scoring baseball games so I am all alone. House is a mild wreck but I do not care. The nearly 12 year old crawled into my big red chair with me last night for a snuggle and wanted his back 'tickled'. It has been his thing since he was a baby and seldom occurs anymore except for when he is tired but I was glad to oblige. Parents will be back late tomorrow night and I am taking the boys and the big ones girlfriend out to eat after church tomorrow. It has been wonderful. Only thing that would be better would be to get one of those codes and be able to take them with me to DW.

Yes, but the mask I'm wearing seems to be working well!! :rotfl:

Yep, first thing we did was a big virus check by a tech friend of Michael's and nada, nothin' - thank goodness. Just a freak occurrence, I guess. Although some others on the DIS have the same issue - at least I have color in the quick reply. :)

OMG!! Well, after yesterday, me thinks the weekend could only be better!!! I've said before, and I'll say it again, my friend: BLESS YOUR HEART!!!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend with your boys...I'll join your wish that you are dusted with a fab code so you could take them along to WDW.

State education officials say student will not have to make up the time lost, but the timing couldn't be worse for both schools as they administer the ISTEP test this time of year.
This is from Indy schools.
