Ok-

Thanks the reason I was so concerned about the tags is.... Lets say I place these on my bag and get off my plane and go to the transfer.. They look and see us on the manifest.. We board all fine and dandy.. If they were the wrong tags or not the ones for the transfer.. Then my luggage would be still at the airport spinning in circles.. THAT Was my real MAIN concern!!! I just wanted to make sure that I didn't have to wait for Disney to mail me the tags.. That these are the ones I have that cover the luggage transfer from the plane in Florida to the ship.... I am sure we are on the manifest... I just wanted to know if I still need a seperate tag for the luggage to utilize the DCL transfer!!!!Besides these tags that were in my book?

I am sure all can understand that I did NOT want to start an agrument or anything, or confusion.. I just wanted an experienced cruiser to be able to settle if by placing these on my bags they will end up on the ship, From the plane.. I shouldn't have to see them when I get to Florida till I enter my state room?

Thanks again
Sorry If I upset anyone?

Hi, everyone! I feel like I've been out of the loop for a couple of days. We had some friends come in from Dallas for the holiday weekend & haven't had any time to get on the computer. When we have been at home this weekend, I've been glued to the Weather Channel worried about my sister AND Castaway Cay. I haven't been back on the discussion board (just came straight to Cruise Meets), so I don't know if there's been any info about how much damage there was to the island with Frances, but it can't be good. That hurricane just lingered over them for TOO long. I will be disappointed if we can't go there, but I really just want to get on the "Mickey Boat", even if it's a mystery cruise or cruise to nowhere! If we can't make any ports, do you think they would refund us the port charges?

We are in Cabin 7526. Are we the only ones on Deck 7? We were originally on Deck 5, but when we went to a cat 5 stateroom we went up a couple of decks. 2 WEEKS AND COUNTING!!!!!!!!!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We are in room 6521. I haven't read anything yet about damage to CC. I hope we can still go there, even if we can't go to Nassua. It looks like they've got quite a bit of damage there.

OKay, I see what the misunderstanding is about :)

No argument...

First off, I really HATE to disapoint you, BUT

NO transfer will allow you to leave luggage at airport and find them in your cabin, reguardless of IF you fly, drive, transfer, etc.. YOU MUST take your luggage YOURSELF to the port... and hand them to the port attendants...

THE ONLY difference is, there is a place to 'store' luggage on the transfer bus from the time you board it , till you get off...

BUT there is NO 'tags' for that at all, it's not necessary..

sorry...

Hope that clears up anything... I will send this PM, to make sure you get it.

Meg

Disney is different in this aspect.

Unless it changed, We put our luggage tags on before we got to our home airport. Phl

Then we got on our flight and that was the last time we saw our luggage until we were on the ship.

As long as you have your luggage properly tagged . Disney will pick your luggage up at MCO and take it right to the ship.. If it is properly tagged you don't even have to go to baggage claim. Disney takes care of it all.

Jumba Jookiba

EXACTLY! Thats what my travel agent stated.. When I say goodbye to my bags here at Philadelphia I will not see them again till I get to my room.. He said thats why the transfers are so expensive.. Becuase Disney handles the bags right off the plane and all. He stated that they have thier Crew Memebers or whom ever that works for the transfer co there and ready to pick up your bags.. I guess thats why they ask for your flight numbers and times....

But again, My travel agent assured me that the only time I have to lug my luggage is after we get back after the cruise and thru customs? Who the heck knows... I wish I could call disney but they are not there... I hope if all is ok tomorrow with the port they will take phone calls?

Thanks again.. Sorry to start a rant or rave... I just don't need ANY surprises when I arrive there... That is if IVAN holds off...

Yeah ..

its really simple

You tag your luggage before you leave your house and then drop it off at Phl airport.

Then when you get to mco you will meet a disney cruise represenative who will direct you to where you will load the bus.

The disney crew member will take you luggage from your flight and then after they check it . you will see it again sometime around or before 4 pm when it is brought right to your room.

Then the on Wednesday night you place your new luggage tags which will be provided to you ( most likely left on your bed either tuesday or wed night during turn down service)

You put them tags on and they take your luggage away and it you will see it again on Thursday morning.. After you depart the ship you will go down to customs where you will find your bags which will be located in the section with other rooms that are in your color coded tag area.. ( I'm not sure which color you would be but it will have a disney character on it making it easier to find)

You then collect your bags and take them through customs..

After that, If you have a carrier like Us-Air , Delta or a couple of others you can check your bags right at the terminal and you will see them again when you get back in philly.

I hope I explained this pretty good.. :-)

Perfectly and exactly as my travel agent did.... Now I need to call Disney to make sure if I need other tags than the ones I have already?

Thanks again

Just spoke to a DCL member on the phone.. She assured me that as long as we have these tags.. Wonder are blueish green and magic are yellow.. Disney cruise rep waits at the luggage claims and pulls EVERY bag off that has the tags....

So these tags are fine to use.. Whew... Also I just spoke to my uncle whom cruised several times with carnival and royal carribean.. He said he never looks for his luggage.. They always pick it up at the airport and it arrives at the boat... They to give tags as well for the bags... So maybee it just depends on the cruise line?

Thanks again..

Forgive me, I assumed, that NO cruise line would want to be liable, and anyways, we've done RCCL TWICE, and NEVER did they do that for us (we did there transfer as well....)

I suppose, Disney is better , t hat's good to know :)

Hope your fustration is over now that you know, your luggage is safe...

but OH.
Ivan the terrible looks like it could hit FL/Bahamas late next weekend/ early next week...

my nerves are on edge... they just said WE could get between 5 and 10 inches of rain in the next 3 days from Frances, she's back on the path towards us... *faints*

Not to mention we are started to feel some wind over here... I'm NOT leaving my house till Thurs under NO circumstances..

It is 5pm but it didnt set sail til about 530 in October. I think it runs late a bit. No matter, you are on the ship and vacation has begun! :Pinkbounc Dont forget that embarking day is a day of your vacation, alot of people think of it as a "get to" day and miss a whole day of activities. We intend to wear or carry or swimsuits on Sunday. Looks like we will be visiting Nassau, in the thread titled "Castaway Cay destryoed" Dave from Marietta posted a press release from bahamas that said they were pretty much open for business and did not receive as much damage as was feared. Atlantis Paradies Island is already taking reservations again and the airport has been reopened.

BTW aery we are expected to get almost 5 in of rain from Frances. I am in COlumbus, where are you?

Jumba are you joining us on our sailing, or did you pop in to offer advice?

Just West of ATL...

I know, I'll be onboard by 1pm for sure :)

So Nassau is in hey? I hate to have 2 sea days in a row though :(

BUt, we need to keep an eye on Ivan, no telling where HE might hit...

Yes, unfortunately I am aware that Ivan is out there :( Having said that, I am just so dang happy to have a break from work and the kids, that I will be happy just to be on the ship. ANd if the worse that happens(as far as our vacation goes) is that I am on a cruise to nowhere, and get discounted on a future cruise, that's fine too. I am just going into the cruise with a lets see what happens attitude, and not expecting anything except a relaxing time away! I have realized that I can not control the weather conditions, and I leave it in the Captains hands to keep us safe :-) I have a feeling that due to the active hurricane season, if DCL extends the offer to rebook, I imagine alot of fellow cruisers are going to do just so. You and I have the luxury of not having to worry about flights or airport closures. We just have to drive there, and that is one less worry off of our back. I imagine, if I van is still out there when we sail ,that we will have a less than full ship. IS anyone here planning on rescheduling if this keeps up?

Just thought I would copy this here from the above mentioned thread posted by Dave from Marietta

The Islands of The Bahamas Bounce Back from Hurricane Frances

Nassau/Paradise Island Suffer Minimal Damage; Nassau International Airport Re-Opens Sunday, September 5, 2004 at 5:00 PM AST ALERT #5

NASSAU, Bahamas, Sept. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Tourism facilities in The Islands Of The Bahamas fared considerably better than predicted after Hurricane Frances passed the 700 island-nation. Hurricane Frances rolled in as a Category 4 hurricane and left as a Category 2.

The Nassau International Airport resumed full operation as of Sunday, September 5th as have airports in the southern Bahamas. Cruise lines are scheduled to return to the Port of Nassau on their regular itineraries within the week. The major hotels and resorts in Nassau, Cable Beach and on Paradise Island, including Atlantis, Paradise Island, British Colonial Hilton, Radisson Cable Beach and Wyndam Nassau Resort & Crystal Palace sustained minimal cosmetic damage, are fully operational and are accepting reservations at this time. Hotels report no injury to guests.

Preliminary reports from Harbour Island, North Eleuthera, Spanish Wells and Exuma indicate minimal property damage with most tourism facilities returning to normal service. Full assessments are still pending of Grand Bahama Island, Abaco, Andros and Bimini.

Interviews with Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace, Director General of the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, are available upon request. To schedule an interview, contact Alice Diaz of Weber Shandwick at 917-375-5514.

I'm like you. This is a vacation from the kids. It doesn't matter where we end up, as long as the kids are at home. We will still sail, unless it's cancelled.

Mom doesn't want to spend 4 days on JUST water... but she also DOESN'T want to go to Nassau, if it's a mess... she understands that they want to make money, but doens't want to be disapointed...

unfortunately, I don't see Disney, or any cruise line for that matter, looking at it like that.

*sigh* It JUST depends on what Ivan decides to do, and how long he takes to do it.

LOL dodle, it will take a heck of a lot more than a stinkin hurricane to make me cancel my kidless vacation! LOL DCL will have to cancel it:p
