Happy Halloween everyone! Just caught up on the thread while waiting for the Trick or Treaters. Welcome to the new folks! Hope everyone has a wonderful, spooky night and a great weekend. Will catch up again on Monday!! By the way, WE CLOSED ON OUR HOUSE TODAY!!!! We have been waiting a year so we are really excited - can you tell! YEAH!! It was painless, but had to sign a funny paper that said "even though the house appraised for $____ there is no guarantee with all the houses that the appraisal in this market will stay that way." The attorney said this is his first house closing with this addendum. Scary!

Sandi,
congratuations on closing on your house:goodvibes
Lots of people are having strange papers to sign now because houses are loosing value so fast in todays market. Dont worry about it, when things finally turn around it will gain in value again:thumbsup2
Our house in Florida is down about 100,000 in value, but we are hanging in there waiting for it to turn around, although it will be a few years, I'm sure.

Where is your new house located?
Its so exciting to move into a new place. I hope all goes well for you:thumbsup2

We are in Lakeland in a little golf community called Eaglebrooke. Just love it!! Except I am getting no children for Halloween and I am a big candy-giving out person. Everybody gets bags stuffed with toys and candy! It is my fave holiday - excluding Christmas!!! Love to see the little kids dressed up - but I really don't like the big, tall and scary!!

I know where Lakeland is and have been through it a few times although we arnt real close to it.
Our home is between Leesburg and Lady lakes and The Villages backs up to one side too. Fruitland park is the actual town, very small.
Our home is in The Glen subdivision.
There are some great buys out there right now, glad you could take advantage of it.

Kathy

Thanks Kathy - we are glad we could buy now too!!! Hopefully yours will work out too! I have only had 2 trick or treaters - I am devastated!!!

Happy Halloween to everyone!

Finally getting the kids ready to go out. I have had a heck of a day dealing with the school district and my dd's IEP and trying to get all of her paper work in for a program that the military has for children with special needs! I am exhausted from it all but happy to say that all the paperwork is finally complete!!!

Now it is time to send it off to the insurance company and HQ's Marine Corps and see what services our daughter qualifies for....what a fun waiting game that will be!

So what are people's kids dressing up as? I have DD (3) as a Banana  and DD (7) as Alice in Wonderland.

Hoagie Pie, I hope you get more trick or treaters! My favorite part is handing out candy too so I know how you feel. We live on a small cul de sac so some people do not even both to venture up to it bc there are so few houses.

Have a great night all!

My night did improve, but I am sorry to say that I am already dealing with the teenagers that are not dressed. I opened the door and asked what these 3 teenagers were that had on T-shirts and jeans and hair in headbands and they said, "people from the 80's" I WAS FROM THE 80's and never thought I would be a "Halloween costume." Anyway, it was funny and I gave out more bags, but I still need at least 15 kids to call it a "good night" Good luck with your kids Stephanie and good luck dealing with the insurance company and the Marine Corps. Don't worry, before house closing went to the bank and they informed me, my their mistake, that I am no longer head of my account, my MIL is!! Her middle name is my first name and they have it switched and what a disaster. I have come to the conclusion lately that anything worth having, you must fight for - so keep smiling and don't give up. If you go in with that attitude, and you don't have to fight, it makes it easier and you can  :worship: :yay: :woohoo:

Sandi!!! Congrats on finally bringing closure to your AZ home!!

We had trick-or-treating last night, and I was thrilled it was in the upper 50's. Tonight, which is the night the majority of the Columbus area is having their beggars' night, it's in the upper 60s!! I just sortta kinda got cool around 8:00. Crazy weather!

What a beautiful day we had today! So what did I do? I went out to buy new winter boots. :upsidedow

Hope everyone has a safe, happy Halloween. We live in a 55+ community, so you can guess we don't get trick-or-treaters. However, today I dressed my 5mo DGD in her kitty costume and walked her around the neighborhood. She's so cute!

We are done with the little ones now, I think. For the last 20 years we lived rural and had NO trick or treaters, so we were very excited to get to see the little ones again and pass out treats! DrHug and I donned our pirate outfits to get into the spirit. What fun!!

We also bought a car to tow behind our RV today. We got a Toyota Yaris, only 2200 lbs of weight and towable with 4 wheels down with a manual transmission. No manual ones available here so the dealer is sending someone to Boise to pick one up for us. It will be here Monday. Now just need to quickly get the tow package set up :rotfl2: before the snow hits!! It was a fun day though, always fun to buy a new car. :goodvibes

Congrats on the house closing Sandi! We have had WAY fewer trick or treaters than last year, as well. Hmm--guess it's more candy for us to enjoy at the movies for the next few months. That's one reason I buy the "good stuff", only candy I like, like Peanut Butter Cups and Twix, lol.

Sadly, I ended up working at the Disney Store so I didn't get to pass out candy to the Trick or Treaters. :sad1: Oh well...

Trying to download some of my pictures from the Cruise to my Photobucket...it's taking SOOOOO long!

I really think it's great when the grown-ups passing out the treats dress up too...we had Winnie the Pooh and Tigger on our route. One of the houses we went to had a Disney theme with their pumpkins - all 7 of them! - Cinderella, Snow White, Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Pooh and Eyeore. It was kind of depressing though tonight, hardly anyone was out and less than a third of the houses on our route where giving out candy - last year we probably had about 90% of the houses participating and over 100 kids.

Good Saturday Morning everyone!:surfweb:

Hope everyone had a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I too am in a adult community so there were no trick or treaters here.
I miss taking my niece and nephews out when I lived back in NY and they were younger. Some of those nights were so cold or rainy but we still did it.

It is a nice brisk sunny day here in Williamsburg, VA. Might go down to Colonial Williamsburg and take the dog for a walk and get a nice hot cup of coffee and sit on one of the benches and enjoy the day.

Have a nice weekend everyone!!!

well the phillies parade lasted 5 hours today all commercial free on the comcast sports network. the parade might not be as long when they win the world series next year.they will be the team to beat.they will probaly only lose pat burrel. 3 no names and gordon which has been injured most of the year. only time will tell.

Congrats to the Phillies. I'm in Florida and not real popular with the Tampa Bay Fans. What/Who was in the parade that made it last so long?

All "ketched-up" after 3 nights of work. Only had 10 pages to read.
We flew Aer Lingus in 07 for the WBTA and it was fine for us. I believe there were around 50 if not more of the WBTA folks on that flight alone. We started out in NYC and then picked up even more in Dublin.

We don't do Halloween per se, as far as trick/treating. But we did have one family come by for candy. We gave out some that we had here.
We took the girls up on a train ride the last off weekend to a fall carinval up in Durango. They had a blast!!!!!

Sorry to hear you had to work - guess they pulled you in at the last minute (since you thought earlier that you would be able to hand out candy). We had no one come to our place (we are one of four townhouses but we do sit behind a larger house and not right on the street).

Every player (and their families) and manager were in the parade. They parade (mostly on flat bed type trucks decorated with 2008 World Series Champion signs) from just past city hall to the sports complex. It's straight down Broad Street about 4 miles but it was sooooo packed with fans. They estimated over 2 million (and many people ended up not making it into the city as the local trains couldn't handle the load so there could have been a lot more)!!!! Anyway, they had to go real slow but that was nice so that the fans were able to see everyone and get lots of pictures!! When they got to the sports complex (we have a venue for the Eagles - the LINK - and a venue for the Phillies - Citizen's Bank) the players first went to the LINK which was packed with fans and walked around the field high fiving fans and then had a couple of small speeches there. They then proceeded over to their home field and had a formal parade around the field (starting players were driven in convertibles individually). Then they had the ceremony where they raised the 2008 flag and let each of the players speak. One last walk around the field (with music and fireworks blazing) and the 2007-2008 season was over!!

But it was a great ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got called in, but I didn't have to be there until 7pm. I ended up processing shipment. Oh well.

I can't believe nobody came to the house! You're not that far off the street! Didn't even the neighbors kids come over? Wow! My mom and sister said that we didn't have as many trick or treaters as we've had in the past.

Nope - NADA! So there are snickers, milky ways and Baby Ruth bars for you to eat!!!
