been packing all day .. god i am exhausted .. usually i do not stress about these things .. but its easy jets stupid loss allowance 20 KG really !!

i am about at that now .. but i am going to need to buy stuff when we get to gibraltor NEED TO HIT MORRISONS AND M&S

:laundy:
:hyper:

soooo busy

John and I are still struggling with our packing as we have so much stuff!! One suitcase alone is our electronic gear cushioned by clothing so John is not complaining about an extra suitcase. John is a firm believer in have technology, will travel. He would rather travel in shorts, a tee shirt and sandals for the whole trip than leave behind any electronic gear!!

Our baggage allowance is 2 bags at 50lbs each on United but have to pay extra for our flight on Air Berlin as they have the 1 bag 40kg (44 lbs) and 1 carry on (including computer) weight limit of 8 kgs (17 lbs) per person.

You either do a carry on and stuff your purse inside or carry a purse on Air Berlin. The cost of the extra baggage is costing us more than our two flights combined since we used miles on United to fly to Frankfurt.

Steffy, as far as I can remember, they do. U should be fine

Also, it's been hot in Barcelona. Very shorts and tank top weather or sundresses. All week is supposed to be hot.

If you look at about Sept 13 and 14, you will see the following:

Sep 13 Monday
Few showers. Highs in the mid 70s and lows in the low 60s.
Sep 14 Tuesday
Scattered thunderstorms possible. Highs in the upper 70s and lows in the low 60s.

Of course the forecasts are over a week out, so I will be watching it carefully. I have already put our travel rain ponchos in our carry on just in case.

Not a chance on the planet could we fit all our "gear" into a carry on!! Only the cameras and computers will qualify as a carry on. The camera backpack has to go into the suitcase for Air Berlin flight. John will wear his photography vest filled with the lenses!!

I have my suitcase packed--1 bag for my clothes weighing in at 43 lbs. I still have another suitcase to pack with all the goodies for the cruise and my cordless blender. I am hoping to get our clothing for Paris & Barcelona in 1 carryon for the both of us--I don't want to have to rummage through the big cases. My part on that is packed too----Alan hasn't gotten out the 1st thing :scared1:and we leave next Sunday.

It is going to be a very busy week at work. But we will get through it all and I can't wait to get on the plane Sunday and to see Disneyland Paris for the 1st time.

Happy packing everyone--hope it isn't too stressful:)

:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

For some reason some of us couldn't get on the Dis today. had a strange page up I haven't seen before. Not country related as many over in the US couldn't either. Thank goodness for Facebook where we could check in with!!!

Well I managed to almost pack a suitcase this morning. Should be one I don't need to open until we are on the ship. All the FE gifts, dressy shoes and bits and bobs for later. Still some weight left to lay some trousers etc on top.

Most things are organised now, and I feel so much better being so in front with things. I know it will still be panic mode and stressful closer to leaving, but for now it feels good. There is an awful lot to get in the other 2 suitcases and 1 garment bag though.:scared1:

Ohgosh I've been so stressed about other life stuff (that you know about) and now I've got some of that still going on plus hurry and get ready for this vacation!

Glad you're sorted Marilyn!:cool1:

I'm totally packed!!!!!I have one medium-sized bag and one small bag. I didn't even have to unzip the suitcase extension zipper on the small bag which would give me three-four extra inches of depth. Neither suitcase is stuffed. I also have a carry on backpack which holds clothes for three days in Barcelona and bathing suit, etc. for the ship before we are able to get our bags. That is totally packed also. I shouldn't have to open the "cruise suitcases" until we get on board. That's the plan anyway. Hubby is taking one small suitcase and one garmet bag for suits. Also will have a backpack for his carryon. He's quite organized and almost packed himself. I'm very impressed. He is taking a navy suit and a tan suit and will wear them separately and mixed. The only input I had was to buy him a couple of Mickey ties. I'm not sure what else he has planned but I'm sure he will look great. When I casually mentioned Pirate Night he insisted "I don't wear costumes!" lol I will have a shawl that I am in the process of sewing that will be in the pirate theme. So, it is not exactly a costume but will get me in the spirit.

Still to finish:
Call CC companies
Finish pirate shawl
Finish magnets
Talk to AT&T about phone use overseas
Haircut on Friday
Mani/Pedi on the 13th
Last minute charge for phones/camera/Sony Reader
Organize all documents for trip

Then we are off to Barcelona on the 14th!!!

Lots of damage and the cost they are estimating will be billions of dollars. Many homes are uninhabitable and will need to be demolished.

Its just over 2 hours since the last aftershock. About 4 hours ago we had a 5 on the richter scale so I think thats shaken something into place (wishful thinking?). We have had 30 quakes since just after midnight.

Glad you're OK and hope you're right about things calming down!

Not a chance. There is no way in this world I'm going to schlep all my luggage and carry ons onto a bus. I wouldn't do it if it were free. As soon as I'm through customs I will be looking for a porter (skycap, man with cart, don't care what you call him, he will take my luggage) to the taxi. The taxi driver will load my stuff into the trunk and will place it in front of the hotel. I am bringing more than I can carry so I'll need help!!!:worship::worship:

Just be sure to keep everything close and keep an eye out when the taxi driver unloads your cases. Try to have a bellman take things directly from the taxi. Barcelona is known for having people walk by and grab things as they're being unloaded from taxis because you're tired, in a strange place, distracted by paying for the taxi, etc.

I thought this might be of interest to those of us who are following the New Zealand earthquake news.

90 buildings destroyed downtown, hundreds of others damaged, but NO LOOTING! :worship: to the Kiwis!!!
I guess that means American rap "stars" won't be doing a charity concert! :confused3

I was down for a while, too. Red Hat reported that the site was functional but apparently they had done some upgrades and didn't reconnect everything properly at first.

I am very impressed with the packing. We mix our packing in case a bag goes missing, then we have some of everything in each case(more or less anyway!!) Makes unpacking a bit of a pain though.
We have had a bag go missing on arrival home, and that made us think about what if it was the other way. I would so love to have my own cases though.(3 for me and 1 for John!!!;))

I didn't get in until after 3pm our time. I was getting withdrawal symptoms!!!:rotfl2: I knew we would have to wait till the board owners got online when they woke up.

I hope I haven't missed much.... wanted to pop on and explain why and also see if anyone still needs a large shirt for our group... was able to get me another shirt in my size to purchase- so now we have an extra sz lrg. If anyone wants to buy it- i can ship on Tuesday priority to make sure you get it or you can pay paypal and I'll bring it to you on the ship or something. Shipped Tuesday priority should make it to almost anyone in the states though. That's when she's shipping my shirt to me. LMK anyone. :) (contact me thru email please. I don't check here on my iphone but do check emails)

Also was there not a smaller size than adult small? If you notice Rita wearing a dress--- it's really the size adult small shirt she ended up with, not really a dress just might look that way. :rotfl: but we'll be there.... regardless of what we're wearing.. God willing

I think that's all I was gonna say but I'm so tired I'm not sure!
oh yeah, I hope everyone is well and everyone is able to make the trip! I know sooo many (everyone?) could really use it... and it's gonna fab-u-lous. :)

See you there if I'm not able to post any till then.

Anyone know her email or where I can find it? Please!

Judy

I did keep that in mind for my two bags. If one goes missing, I can make do with the other. For example, outfits are packed with the matching shoes so if I lose one bag I won't wind up with the clothes but not the matching shoes, etc. Also, underwear is split between the bags. Not sure about hubby but I don't want to micromanage so I'll let him worry about that.

I do that, can't help it!!

Michele and I are also spread-loading our clothes across three checked bags so that if one doesn't make it to the ship, we'll still have something suitable for each day.

OMG, I'm with John on the techie stuff and I'm having a hard time. My DH bought me an iPad for the trip so I wouldn't have to lug the laptop, BUT...I won't have a usb port to charge my shuffle and I won't have Photoshop to work on my photos. I do have the camera connection kit so I can d/l my sd cards to the iPad and I have three 8gb cards so I should be okay unless I take more than 10,000 pictures.

Good luck with the packing. Took me 24 hours and I finally just decided to stop stressing and just take three rollaboards, one I will carryon and they all collapse to fit under the bed. I packed everything including formal wear. Decided if needed I'd send out for pressing the first day onboard.

We're doing Palo the first night out but not able to book tea yet so will run to GS to do that first thing. Hope there's a reservation slot available.
