Corinna - I'm sending this here since my PM box is full and I don't have time to tidy it up just to send out a post. We're leaving on the 15th. I hadn't planned on bringing any tools. Did I miss it somewhere where we were supposed to?
.

Thanks, I have noted your information and updated the spreadsheet. I know that some people mentioned that they are bringing their own tools so I am just trying to figure out how many tools we will have in each workshop. I have shipped three sets of tools to Barcelona and we can definitely make do with those, but things will be a bit easier if some people bring their own. It is absolutely not necessary though

Not a chance. There is no way in this world I'm going to schlep all my luggage and carry ons onto a bus. I wouldn't do it if it were free. As soon as I'm through customs I will be looking for a porter (skycap, man with cart, don't care what you call him, he will take my luggage) to the taxi. The taxi driver will load my stuff into the trunk and will place it in front of the hotel. I am bringing more than I can carry so I'll need help!!!:worship::worship:

Love the wine diapers. :idea::idea::idea:

You might just be out of luck. Porters at the airport seem to be a very American thing and not the norm in Europe. I have never seen any porters at airports in the UK, Germany or France and can't remember seeing any in Barcelona either. You will however find luggage carts that are usually free to use so you don't have to carry everything.

same

same here too!
Ohgosh I've been so stressed about other life stuff (that you know about) and now I've got some of that still going on plus hurry and get ready for this vacation!

Everyone else- sorry I haven't been around much and I know I'm missing a ton! A few of you know why... I've basically not been home for 2wks- one in a town a few hours away helping her deal with chemo, and she'd moved there recently for nursing job and has no friends/family except me! I came home on Fri and then on Sunday midday I had to go back- my aunt (the sister of my father who passed last november, both outlived by parents who are in their 80's but it's all on grandmother... grandfather has alzheimers and doesn't know.) had an aneurism (sp?) she was kept alive on life support until mid-week so she could donate some of her organs- some of which saved a 21yr old in Dallas that same night. sigh.... that would have made her happy (she was 53) but I'm most concerned grandmother can take all this losing 2 children in their 50's within 9 months of one another ... and aunt's daughter she raised alone who is only 26 and just recently married (thankfully what will pull her thru I'm sure) -but she was THE sweetest happiest smiliest person you ever met- a real joy.... but she'll be changed after this. *sigh*

Anyway- now I'm home for I'm not sure how long. Friend had chemo again and didn't do well today. I may end up going again but I came home to a desroyed home, pool disgusting, bills not paid, clothes not washed- not a stitch of clothing or towel clean! arghhh LOL, and no dishes clean- etc. You know what I mean... and ofcourse packing/etc. for this trip. I need to get some things done before I can spend more time away right before vacation!

I sooooo need this vacation.
I've wanted it before.
I've thought I needed it before.
I was wrong, NOW I really NEED it. Get away... no worries... no cleaning no cooking... no caring for others except my babies (and even then minimally thanks to DCL lol) -- NEED IT! can't wait...................................

I hope I haven't missed much.... wanted to pop on and explain why and also see if anyone still needs a large shirt for our group... was able to get me another shirt in my size to purchase- so now we have an extra sz lrg. If anyone wants to buy it- i can ship on Tuesday priority to make sure you get it or you can pay paypal and I'll bring it to you on the ship or something. Shipped Tuesday priority should make it to almost anyone in the states though. That's when she's shipping my shirt to me. LMK anyone. :) (contact me thru email please. I don't check here on my iphone but do check emails)

Also was there not a smaller size than adult small? If you notice Rita wearing a dress--- it's really the size adult small shirt she ended up with, not really a dress just might look that way. :rotfl: but we'll be there.... regardless of what we're wearing.. God willing

I think that's all I was gonna say but I'm so tired I'm not sure!
oh yeah, I hope everyone is well and everyone is able to make the trip! I know sooo many (everyone?) could really use it... and it's gonna fab-u-lous. :)

See you there if I'm not able to post any till then.

I am so sorry that you are having such a tough time at the moment.

I was not planning on bringing my own tools, and to tell you the truth, I can't fit anything else in my bags! :scared1:
We are leaving here on the 16th September.

Thanks for letting me know. I have updated my spreadsheet.

Do you guys remember, if they offer juice at Topsiders breakfast. We are planning on getting his milk there plus -if possible- his juice for the day.
smiley3984.gif

Yes, they do. Juice is also available in the restaurants at every meal. Last year we were sharing a table with a couple that pretty much lived on Cranberry Juice.

I hope it is better maintained than the last time I saw it. It has been several year but it was, at best, shabby. I was very disappointed. I went three times in about 5 years so it was not a matter of just being in between updates. In my opinion, Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Sea were the most immaculate of the Disney parks. That being said, I loved them all. Disneyland Paris has the Alice in Wonderland Maze! How typically French. If I remember correctly, Indiana Jones was all outdoors and it went backwards as well as forward. Quite different than any of the others. I would go back in a snap. It's just that, compared with the others, it wasn't as Disney-groomed, if that can be considered a word.

Rene

I have to say I have always had a soft spot for Disneyland Paris. A lot of the rides are better than at WDW and DL (Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Phantom Manor) and there seem to be more attention to detail. When I went in April, the park was beautifully maintained. I do know so what people are meaning about the cast members. Disney Studios is a different matter entirely, which to me is just a giant waste of space. I am not too impressed with the Disney Village either.

Thanks to Sarah pointing out that there is a Crocs sale on, I managed to get two pairs of flip flops today, which will be perfect for wearing around the pool and in the Rainforest Room.

I am trying to follow what I read on this site. Shows a picture and makes perfect sense to me.
shopping-barcelona-19.jpg

Oh dear, perhaps I need to do some more shopping.:rolleyes1 I was going to wear cropped trousers. I don't really think I would ever pass for anything other than a tourist to be honest though.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Thanks for posting on the tech forum Mandy.

No problem Marilyn :goodvibes

I'm totally packed!!!!!I have one medium-sized bag and one small bag. I didn't even have to unzip the suitcase extension zipper on the small bag which would give me three-four extra inches of depth. Neither suitcase is stuffed. I also have a carry on backpack which holds clothes for three days in Barcelona and bathing suit, etc. for the ship before we are able to get our bags. That is totally packed also. I shouldn't have to open the "cruise suitcases" until we get on board. That's the plan anyway. Hubby is taking one small suitcase and one garmet bag for suits. Also will have a backpack for his carryon. He's quite organized and almost packed himself. I'm very impressed. He is taking a navy suit and a tan suit and will wear them separately and mixed. The only input I had was to buy him a couple of Mickey ties. I'm not sure what else he has planned but I'm sure he will look great. When I casually mentioned Pirate Night he insisted "I don't wear costumes!" lol I will have a shawl that I am in the process of sewing that will be in the pirate theme. So, it is not exactly a costume but will get me in the spirit.

Still to finish:
Call CC companies
Finish pirate shawl
Finish magnets
Talk to AT&T about phone use overseas
Haircut on Friday
Mani/Pedi on the 13th
Last minute charge for phones/camera/Sony Reader
Organize all documents for trip

Then we are off to Barcelona on the 14th!!!

You've been busy!:thumbsup2

We're doing Palo the first night out but not able to book tea yet so will run to GS to do that first thing. Hope there's a reservation slot available.

Judy

There'll be lots of us in line for ressies at Palo that first day I think!:goodvibes

I still have to do my DCL check in too. I don't remember, is there something I have to print out or is it just all done online?

I just checked and they haven't updated who is the CD this week. I'll keep you all posted.

I'm feeling better, thankfully! I had chicken noodle soup and it tasted wonderful! I'm going to take it easy today though...

You take good care of yourself Amy

Next week we will all be together, finally after two long years of planning.:banana::banana:

I just can't wait to meet you all in real life. Can't wait.:dance3::dance3::dance3:

Yep, me too!:cool1::cool1:

Me either as I am too blonde, plus people think both DH John and I look more German than American. However, I am going to dress up a bit more than normal. Don't I wish I could be that trim!!

I don't know if anyone will be offended, but at our local pool you are not allowed to change diapers by the pool. You must go to the restroom to change diapers so you can wash your hands after doing the diaper change. I think it is a regulation to prevent fecal material (poop) from entering the pool. I don't know if the Magic has the same rule, but they might as they have certain regulations they must follow, also.

When we were on the ship last September, they asked a lady to please change her baby in the restroom. We have also been on the ship when fecal matter got in the pool. The pool was closed for HOURS and very sad for the kiddies because of one mistake. Not fun and Disney does not hesitate in telling you.

DH and I finally wrote Simon's packing list...

I have a question concerning his stuff to drink.

He likes to drink water with some apple juice.

Do you guys remember, if they offer juice at Topsiders breakfast. We are planning on getting his milk there plus -if possible- his juice for the day.
smiley3984.gif

I think they have a juice machine there at topsiders. So if you're planning on grabbing enough for the whole day, you may need to get a togo cup and lid to take it back to your room.

Awesome pirate!

me too Noel! :lovestruc Mark is the 'go to' person for my Mum, for Becky, my laptop, as well as all his own family......:rolleyes1

He and John are going to need to do a tech chat. Maybe there should be a tech chat for serious geeks scheduled on the Navigator!!

Though I love the croc flip flops, I love my Fitflops even better!! By the way, they are much cheaper here at Bloomingdales than in the UK.

Had to share this:

Took my son to HRC. he's not adjusting well to Barcelona (health problems with stomach/colon). But Ken noticed when he came back he was a bit serious. So he asked him, what's wrong Andrew? His reply?

"I don't like this place. I don't like it that everyone assumes I speak Spanish. I can't pick a side over here.".

For those that don't know Andrew he's 6'1", walks very straight so he looks taller and is very pale white, blue-green eyes and when he has hair it turns out blonde but turns red after being out in the sun. So he blends in vert well. :rotfl: at home, people assume he's white so they don't bother him to translate. Here they assume he's Spanish so he can't hide. About frigging time ni get pegged everywhere but here "I'm Latina". Must be the dialect or the gutter Spanish. :teeth:

Hopefully, you are going to feel better today. I hope you have not caught some sort of virus or could there be another cause?

I'm thinking it is the injectable drug I started. I've had the same reaction two weeks in a row after starting/upping my dosage. I'm calling my doctor on Tuesday to find out for sure. I am not upping my dosage to the highest dosage until AFTER the cruise.

Next week we will all be together, finally after two long years of planning.:banana::banana:

I just can't wait to meet you all in real life. Can't wait.:dance3::dance3::dance3:

It doesn't seem possible to say that we're leaving next week! I have so much to do! I have to stop getting sick!

You take good care of yourself Amy
:littleangel:

I am...trust me. I'm drinking ginger ale and eating lots of crackers. I can't wait to eat normally again!

Me either as I am too blonde, plus people think both DH John and I look more German than American. However, I am going to dress up a bit more than normal. Don't I wish I could be that trim!!

I think I only have casual, shorts/cropped trousers, or clothes to go to dinner in on the ship. I think both might mark me out as a target.

Though I love the croc flip flops, I love my Fitflops even better!! By the way, they are much cheaper here at Bloomingdales than in the UK.

I love my normal Crocs as slippers but haven't found any Croc flip flops that were suitable. My feet just slid around on them. However I love love love my FitFlops!!! I could wear them all day.

i wish I could shop at Bloomingdales!

I might just wear one of my beloved Monsoon dresses. I do agree with you whatever I wear, it will be obvious that we are tourists. The fact that we will be speaking English to each other and don't speak a word of Spanish will be more of a give away than our clothes.

I have booked the dolphin tour in Gibraltar now and cancelled the DCL excursion. I ended up booking the 10:15 tour. This means we can have a leisurely breakfast and then head straight to the ferry terminal for the boat tour. Afterwards we might well go back to the ship, grab some lunch before heading out again for our cable car ride.

I've never tried them Noel, but love the pink ones....may have to take a trip to Mall at Millennia while we're in Orlando.....:cool1:

Mark & John will be talking techy at dinner I think!;)

:littleangel:

::yes:: no porters and luggage carts are free over here and they are by the luggage carasouls once you exit that zone it's just a short walk down (like 1 min if that) an escalator to taxi zone. And just a bit further for the Aerobus. Look for the bus sign.

I did see some taxi drivers loading suitcases but I saw the same amount of owners loading their own suitcases in. Might be a man thing though. Remember, taxis are smaller. About 4 luggage is going to be tight.

There are taxi guides in uniform guiding folks and there was a never-ending taxi line when we got here.

Just another observation.

BTW, there are 2 ATM machines located right before the escalators to the taxis. Actually just as you exit baggage claim area.

Well, I guess that means I better practice my Spanish!!

Adios!! Nos vemos pronto en la Magia!! Esperamos tener buen tiempo!! No temperaturas más calientes o la lluvia!!

Do you think you are developing an allergic reaction to the medication?

YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BE SICK!!

I am...trust me. I'm drinking ginger ale and eating lots of crackers. I can't wait to eat normally again!

I hope you get a satisfactory explanation from your doctor soon!!

I think I only have casual, shorts/cropped trousers, or clothes to go to dinner in on the ship. I think both might mark me out as a target.

Nah, I am sure they will not mark you as a target!!

i wish I could shop at Bloomingdales!

I do wear mine all the time. If you see something you must have at Bloomingdales before you go, let me know and you can have it shipped to me or I will pick it up at the store for you and bring to the Magic.

:littleangel:

I wear my Fitflops almost every day and they still look brand new.

I am sure that John and Mark will forget about us if they talk tech!!! They probably will forget they are even on vacation!!

OMG, I'm with John on the techie stuff and I'm having a hard time. My DH bought me an iPad for the trip so I wouldn't have to lug the laptop, BUT...I won't have a usb port to charge my shuffle and I won't have Photoshop to work on my photos. I do have the camera connection kit so I can d/l my sd cards to the iPad and I have three 8gb cards so I should be okay unless I take more than 10,000 pictures.
Judy

Use your ipad charger, just take out the cable and put the ipod shuffle (or it's cable) in the usb slot on the charger.

I will be using my ipad charger with different usb cables for my;

iPad
iPod
cell phone
spare travel power pod
and
BT ear piece (for the trip home).

This way 1 have one charger and three cables plus a converter for BCN.

Which terminal did you arrive in when you landed?
