Yes, another bloomin' watch thread. I do have a point to make though, so bear with me!
You know, I've run into some rather rich cons as of late. For example:
Poedagar, Lige, Pagani watches, et al. They're nice enough, work well, look good, wide range. But Poedagar make out that they are worth in excess of $500 US. They even display their watches with the inflated price tag on them. But there's a sale on, donchaknow! And the actual price its typically £30 - £40. But you feel a million dollars...
Next, people SELL Poedagar watches under assumed names, like Avanti (I make that one up). Then they display a picture of the watches in low resolution so you can't make out the logo on them. They charge a hefty premium but you are suckered in when they say, Buy One Get One Free. Still a huge profit in it for the retailer.
Finally, the same watch, different brand name. I know for a fact that there is one large factory in China where most of the world's watches are made. Some go to premium labels and so go to budget. They're the same watch! But whereas you'd spend £100 on a nice watch from a premium shop over here, you can go on Chinese retail sites and pick up the SAME watch, with a different logo, for £20, on average. There's no difference.
Finally, AI stores. There are numerous stores on the net purporting to have a store in London, etc, and show a picture of said store along with a picture of the watch maker, with a name like Harry. Always has brown overalls on and is surrounded by half made watches and tools. Don't be fooled! They are AI constructs! The watches on sale are generic makes and are sold as "Luxury Mens Fashion Watch" and the such. Don't pay the premium! Especially when they say they are closing down (they are not). Shop around - you'll save a mint!
That's it for now. Sorry for the long post. Had to get it off my chest!
