Sept 18 2010 WB TransAtlantic Pirates/Capt Jacks Re-Repoing Repossession Cruise Pt.6

I have terrible news for our family to pass along, and if you're a pet lover, you will understand. About 15 minutes before I was suppose to have arrived at my mom's Sunday morning, I called her to let her know that I was running late and was just about to leave home. It takes about 70 minutes to get to her place. She said that was okay and don't rush. She was still getting ready herself. When I arrived, she was standing up between the couch and coffee table, visably shaken up with red eyes. I looked over at her husband, who was sitting in a chair, and he was just staring at the floor, sniffling. Something was certainly not right. My thoughts were that maybe they had just had a fight or something.

I asked if she was okay, and she said "I just lost Sidney", her Bichon Frise. So I'm thinking "Well why aren't you outside looking for him?" Outloud, I asked "What do you mean? You lost him?" Well that's what didn't feel right as soon as I walked in. He wasn't there barking at me with his tale wagging a hundred miles an hour.

"He got ran over by a car" was her response. Since she was still waiting for me, she went to the credit union to get some cash from the ATM, so Sidney went with her. She had put on his collar before leaving the house and put his leash in the car with her purse. When she got to the credit union building, she parked and got out of the car. She turned around before closing the door to make sure she didn't close it on him, but he wasn't there. Apparently he saw two young girls in the parking lot, so he darted out of the car to make new friends, unknowing to her. She kept calling for him, walked around the car, but couldn't find him. Then she looked up and saw the two girls staring at the street. This is the part that is still unclear to me, but for some reason he darted across the street. A car hit him, breaking his neck. She said "All I saw as a white puff laying in the road". After being stunned, she asked the girls if he was dead, and one tearfully said "I think so". Mom ran into the street, and she said she saw his head slightly move. She picked him up, and his eyes were fixed on her, so she closed them, just as a nurse (and she is one) would do. About two minutes later, he became lifeless. If there can be any good, we're so thankful that his death was nearly instant, but we believe he had no pain.

We're just so devasted. I feel so horrible for her, and even as I type this I am crying. He was her true companion, and she relied on Sidney for love and affection because she doesn't get it from her husband. She's also afraid her husband is going to blame her because Sidney was in her care when it happened. Of course she never expected him to dart out of the car, so it's not her fault. My grandmother and I have been talking about it, and everything about the story is just not usual behavior for Sidney to run so far away from his mommy. Although some have already said "No, Kimberly", I feel guilty. If I had been at her place on time, she wouldn't have had time to go the ATM with Sidney, and it never would have happened. It's just not easy to stay away from the "what ifs".

Please send good thoughts in the wind for my mom....she needs them. Thank you! :)

Well, I have pages and pages of posts to catch up on...

Have a good one.

Kimberly, my heart just goes out to you and your family. I know it is not easy to stay away from the "what if's" but trust me you can not blame yourself. This is just one of those terrible accidents that sometimes befall us. Thirty years ago I lost a husband to a senseless accident, so I really do understand. When we lost our two dear Cocker Spaniels 6 years ago, it did truly feel like a family member passed.

I am so sorry that your Mother will be alone now without her dear friend. I also feel regret for the two young girls who probably also feel responsible. Please accept my deepest condolences.

Kimberly - I am crying!! What a story and prayers, hugs and pixie dust to your mom!!! I am soooo sad to hear about Sidney. I have a "dog weakness" - any story about dogs makes me cry. Don't look at the what ifs, that will just make you miserable. Remember all the wonderful memories and be there for her if she needs a

It is 83 here with humidity at 52%. I went out for groceries and that was all I could take. Still having problems with my Vertigo. I am seeing the Dr today and will ask about maybe getting my allergies under control since that is what brought on the last episode. Now I am getting nauseous a lot too. This really sucks.

You guys can take our heat any time. I will send it over! Very hot in Florida today.

I added Janice to the scrapbook FE exchange and Sue. Sarah, I know you said you would like to do it, but I didn't know whether to put you on the list - I didn't know if you were serious. We don't care how well or how bad you scrapbook - or how often - we just want to make it fun, have something from everybody to remember the trip! :cool1:

Whoever is cold, send the cool breeze our way!!

I think I might wait and see how many people are doing it then decide as I really don't want to embarress myself by supply rubbish pages to everyone lol! Does anyone have any pics of nice ones theyve had/made?

:lmao::lmao::lmao: Yup and Paula is on my farmville friends list. PoohluvsFigment you may want to add me :)

Oh and the newest trend is Frontierville it is pretty cute too :)

ROFL I never tried cafe world or mall world. But Farmville I like the best cause you can return a gift the easiest. No must or fuss just click and click again :)

Maybe we should hold a meet to help us cope with our facebook withdrawl :)

LOL well each have to bring a random gift from Farmville!

Kimberly,
I'm so sorry to hear about Sydney. How horrific it must have been for her. Please don't blame yourself, things happen and there is nothing we can do to change it.

Abby and I would like to do the tour in St. Maarten on the ATV's if there were more people interested.
So far, it is us 3 and AhoyCaptainMickey PM'd me saying that they were looking into it as well. We're going for the 8:40 time so we have the afternoon to go to Mahalo Beach and watch the planes land.

Before taking 3-1 Purex sheets on this cruise, you might want to read product reviews or try them at home.

On the EBTA, people tried them at home and found stains on dark clothing. YMMV.

Woody
I found if you start the load off with warm water they work better.

That sounds great. Do you know if you need a driving license to ride?

Corinna
It doesnt say anything about a license, you can email them at reservations@stmaartenscruiseexcursions.comand ask

That sounds nasty. I hope the Dr can help you. My daughter had labrynthitis some years ago and it was horrible for her.

Were going to Longleat. Only 1 of us has been before so should be fun!

You should have a lot of fun.

Oh my God Kimberley I'm so so sorry for your Mum and all your family! This is heart breaking news! Please please tell her its not her fault! I feel so sorry for her and all of you. Loosing a pet can hurt so much especially in such tragic circumstances! Give her a hug from me and tell her were all thinking about her.

Hey Sarah - remember this is NOT a whole page, just an embellishment - diecut, stickers, borders, fun thing that you made, etc. It would be hard for me to bring an entire page and not get it wrinkled or crinkled in my luggage. What I am making, I am putting in a zip lock bag for everyone. We would love to have you!!!

I totally agree. It hurts but at least she was with Sidney when he passed.:hug:

I am crying big tears here, still thinking about Miles passing in my arms. It has only been two months and it still hurts so much.

Terry its been 5 years since my Babies died in my arms just 6 months apart and I can honestly say you aren't the only one crying! It still hurts today!

Oh all right see I didn't even realise what I was bringing.

Can it be something I brought from a craft shop or does it need to be homemade? I do have loads of Disney bits and peices but I feel a bit like a fraud finding DCL ones lol!

The pet stories are overwhelming. I am thinking Bambi will make me happier! Pixie Dust to all who have been through something so horrific - you too Goofy Granny as I still stare at Lucy and Elsa's pictures!!!

Ive already said it, but I will say it agian, how utterly devastating for your family, please, please take something from the fact it was quick and painless, dont do the what ifs, well at least try not to, and also please remember they are called accidents for a reason, thats because they are accidents, It will take ages to get over it if you ever do fully but you will feel better soon:grouphug:

We would LOVE to have anything you can find from a craft shop. No, it doesn't have to be DCL. Just think of Princess Night, games you might play. music you might here, shows - Villians, etc. It will be fun and easy and just think of the cool stuff you will get in return!
