That is horrible! It is the intial first meeting that is always scary. The very first Wonder cruise we took, we sat with a family that had 3 kids and they came into Parrot Cay the first night, stayed 5 minutes and ran out. It was our first cruise so we were like, "oh well" the next night they apologized profusely saying that they were all seasick. They have been to our house and even went out for Halloween together. I agree with you though, it was good to move.
Yup! Always a good thing - I have moved twice and twice the 2nd party turned out to be long term friends. So, with a little bit f pixie dust, things can go well. However, its also ok if you don't make that magical connection this time, there's always a next time.
OK all...I need your help. My DW and I have never been anywhere where our American money was not accepted. I don't know anything about Euros and other money accepted in the ports we are calling on in Europe. When you guys get a chance, could you educate my DW and I about the different monies....
Also, my daughter asked if she will be able to call us. We have Verizon cell phones.....anyone have any idea if we will be able to use them to call her?
Thanks very much!

Tom & Marilou,
This should be sorta easy as the euro is to be the main currency. I just returned from Spain and France in April and the dollar is NOT accepted. With the euro dropping down to $1.22, I would say stock up if you can but the easiest thing we found was to take $$ out of an ATM. It was the easiest, fastest and we could gauge what we would use after the first night. Also, if you have leftover euros, DisneySweetie posted that on the '07 WBTA, she was allowed to pay off her account with euros.
Keep in mind that credit cards will add a conversion rate usually around 3-5% which can add up. I am always amazed at the heat I get for recommending ATM's but really, I haven't had any problems. For the last 2 yrs I've gone with DD to Europe on her Easter break and everytime, the tour directors give me heat but you know what? I would rather get a fair exchange rate than put it on a "card" which I have personally seen some of the kids have problems if they don't have their ID with them.
Hope it helps and I would suggest if you have access to a credit union to look into using that. I have a bank/credit union, that because of their lack of buildings, will refund me my ATM fees. If you have any other fears, just jump in and ask - everyone here has at least one tip for newbies. And I remember how scared I was the first time we went to Europe.
Here's a scary thought:
1. No room reservation yet for DH and I
2. No pick-up from Barcelona airport
3. No arrangements for getting to the dock on embarkation day
4. AND.....no airfare yet.
However, I know that I'm planning on getting in on the 16th and resting. Am I

?
Naw!
Rooms are plenty - slow season in Sept
Airport pick-up can be arranged online and we can be dropped off at our
arranged place of lodging.
As for the getting to the dock, its SOOOOO simple, just hail a taxi and tell him take me to Mickey ship! They knew exactly where to go. That is what we did on the morning of sailing - it was a party of 3 and we did end up using 2 cars but heck - it was an adventure and supereasy. Ergo, I'm not panicing yet.
Airfare? Probably going to get my fare in June. As some of you may know - we are sorta a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kinda gal. (makes for some pretty interesting tales I tell you)
