Well I am lucky to have a husband I can drag to things. Though I know he hates large group functions. But once I get him there is is Mr. Comedian. His way of coping to to make people laugh. I can not drag him to too many things though.

But I at least keep him informed of what the Dis group is planning and he has agreed to do some No dragging

OK big help question. We would be interested in the Beer room tour. How do we get our Precious Canadian beer packed properly. Bottles taste so much better than cans.

I am not a drinker but hubby likes the odd beer. Has anyone tried the new beer light. Full taste with only 67 calories.


We have a handicapped cat 8 window room. Guess if we are doing beer we should also show our room.

Now firstly do any of your beers come in plastic bottles? I know in the US a few do now which makes packaging easier.

If not then I would say definately put it in a ziplock bag/like a sandwich box. The put it in a plastic bag. Then wrap in clothes and place in centre of case. This should protect it enough. We've carried bottles of beer before and had no problem with it this way.

I'm going to jump in and say I think thats a good option as its the second day in the big block of sea days. When we did it it took around 2-3 hours to get around every room so you may want to make it a little earlier say 3pm just incase its formal night or anything.

My husband isn't too keen on organised events and likes to go with the flow, particularly till he gets to know people. On the Panama Canal cruise when many other cruisers had got to know each other through the thread, or meets, I just knew I couldn't force him into anything so he could enjoy the cruise how he wanted to. Being scheduled or being 'encouraged' to be part of a group is his idea of a nightmare. I went along to a few things and enjoyed what I did.

I actually totaly agree.

Yes, John is happy to help with the FE. We enjoyed a couple of lunches with Mrs Mork and Dr Hug(Angie's lovely hubby), but we had met them before, and also went along the old geezers group and big photo shoot!!! Once he met a few people he enjoyed a chat here and there with them. I think that was it as a couple.

We steer clear of big tables at dinner also as we both find that difficult, and prefer no more than 6 really.

No one would ever think that! I'm in the same boat as this is my other half's first cruise so I don't want to sign up to anything that involves being scheduled as he's likely to find something else to do and I want to spend the cruise with him. I think this is prefectly acceptable and I'm sure there will be enough people taking part that it doesn't matter.

There are several things that you can drop by and participate in if you feel like it without committing to participate. The 3 pm meet first day is one and is a good chance to see if meets are going to be a "fit" for you and your family. That also is a great opportunity to put faces with all these names, which creates the "howdys" in the hallways as we pass each other. The Geezer meets are also just show up if you want, the group photo also. Just look thru the planned events and come if you want.

FOR THE EARLY DINING GROUP

If you would like to sit at a table with just your family (if you are a family of 4) or with a small group of 4 or 6, but would still like to be in the area with the DIS group just note that when you PM me. We can ask DCL to set up the tables that way. We can have tables of 4,6, 8 and maybe 10. They will arrange that for us. So, don't let your need for a small group dining to keep you from joining with the large group.

Just sent DH the latest cruise plans and itinerary. I was just thinking that today, 24 weeks from now we would be in Frankfort meeting up with family.

We have traveled so much for work over the years that meeting new people seems natural. I can remember one business trip that was 6 weeks long that I still keep in contact with many of the people we met.

To me, one of the greatest things about the DCL cruises has been meeting the people on board. DCL seems to attract the nicest and friendliest people on planet Earth.

I think everyone should participate in their comfort zone. Even though we are empty nesters, we don't mind having kids around but also like time alone as just DH and myself. I think there is more than enough time on the cruise to strike a happy balance for meeting people and having time together.

Just my thoughts....

The Cat 8 is also very big not as much open floor space though and there was no sofa in 6000 when we sailed in it, just a single chair. I like to sit someplace other then the bed so it was kind of annoying to me.

You reminded me that DH and I did a "dry run" test on a carrot soup this weekend that had a half parsnip it. The best part was the topper of orange Crème fraiche that I made. It was a hit!!

Sorry to hear about poor Snoopy. That is such a shame but unfortunately mice don't have a very lengthy life span. We have had gerbils in the past and I have been very upset when they passed away, even though they are such small creatures they are such little characters and they touch your heart. I hope she is just having an "off day" and that she soon recovers. Sending

I am sorry about your mouse, but she is happy I can bet you beside her family, even if she is ill.

Some may call them "only pets" and other may say that they are only "mice" but they were "only" mice in Cinderella as well, plus Mickey was "only" a mouse as well. Now look what has happened we all have an extended family just because of "only" a mouse.

Thank you for your kind words. Sadly, Snoopy passed away overnight. I'm going to miss her so much, but at least she isn't suffering anymore. Remy is really confused (she's not sleeping in her normal place) so we're going to give Remy some TLC when she wakes up.

My mom had knee surgery last week and we found out yesterday that she has a small blood clot in her calf so she was in the hospital overnight. She's home now but she has to give herself injections for 10 days and be on blood thinners for 6 months. I'm not feeling all that well, so it's been quite a few days.

We were originally booked on the Baltic cruise, but it was $11,500 for a Cat 6(2adults), and that for a port intensive 12 night cruise!!!! Soon came to our senses, but would like to do it one day. Would probably go with another cruiseline that would be under half the price though.

I think there have been a few people cancelling.

I would imagine there will be offers of some sort for this cruise. I'm hoping so in case we have to cancel and then hopefully rebook!!!!!

We did the Baltic with another cruise line last year for a lot less.

Please don't think we are big snobs for not putting our names down for any of meets, I am travelling with my 2 DD's who are 8 & 9, and this is our first cruise, so I'm not sure what to expect. I wouldn't want to drag 2 tired kids along and have them play up!

Of course we don't think that . Just come along to whatever you feel like doing on the day if you like.

Don't worry Marilyn I'm with you! I'm such a fussy eater that can't stand having large tables. I just end up not eating and then the waiters feel bad and kind of push me into ordering something else that I don't like!

I would say 8 people at a table would be ideal ... if the table gets too big you end up talking only to those immediately next to you anyway, and it might take a lot longer with the service etc.

Definately need to start saying Im selective! Sounds so much better than Fussy! Its bad enough that I moan about potato every time we eat anywhere! Its become a running joke with Dan and my weird potato thing!

I am also very selective as I only eat chicken or fish and I also have a tomato phobia which limits sauces etc. There is generally only one item on thr appetisers and entrees menu which I like, so it makes choosing easy . I am less selective with desserts unfortunately. Sarah ... I think you need to expand on your "weird potato thing"

Thanks for the pics yes it is bigger than I thought. Though the ones on the 6th floor accessible are so much bigger a great spot for a group tour. BUt it will be nice to have a window.

We normally sit on the bed and watched TV so it is no biggy I guess because the couch was so far away from the TV the bed was closer.

Now that is big rofl.
