For all that travels West.
Today is one small step for man and one large step for TA2.

Flights are booked and hotel reservations confirmed....

tada :yay:

TA2

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

I was living in hope that it would be Tron, Toy Story 3 or Alice in Wonderland but none are out at the right time. We had Pirates 3 at Midnight on the EBTA and we had Wonderdog I think it was called on the WBTA.

I can't wait to see Alice in Wonderland but it comes out in March .... may get to see it again on the ship though.

Um...now I see that I am confused....again. There appears to be two Praktik hotels about 4 blocks apart. The Rambla and the Barcelona. Rambla is about 100euro more for the 2 nights than the Barcelona, which is where I booked (not knowing there were two of them!). Does anyone have info as to the difference, other than location and of course a DIS contingent staying there? The photos on both sites look pretty much the same. :confused3

I think it looks really nice and very stylish for what they call 'budget'. I emailed them to ask about safes as I saw they mentioned lockers. I asked how safe they were. They replied that the lockers are very safe as are the rooms. I thought the vending machine would be gppd for coffees etc as at the Rambla one there isn't one mentioned and there are not tea and coffee making facilities in the room.

MrsMork - I, too, booked at the Praktik Barcelona (PB) first but switched the very next day. I did some checking and in addition to cost, the Praktik Rambla (PR) seems to offer more services. For example, the PR offers a safe whereas the PB only offers a locker where you can lock stuff up while you are out of your room; the PR has a restaurant but the PB only has vending machines; etc. I think the PB is more like a hostel and the PR is more like a hotel. Also, TripAdvisor rates the PR as #26/579 and the PB as #257/579.

I think the PB is fairly new and so the ratings still in the early days.

So....I think we can just walk down and meet you in the restaurant. :thumbsup2 We have no jewelry or valuables to take other than camera, credit card and passports which we will have with us, tucked safely under my shirt :) when we leave the hotel. Well, DrHug's big camera will not be under my shirt, that would look too weird! :lmao:

At least you are more central then the HIEx so therefore for some of the time saving on the transport costs to get to the centre. I believe there are loads of coffee booths around where you can go out and pick up coffee and a pastry for 2 Euros for breakfast. At least that is what we will be doing.

Looks like you'll be at least the 3rd one of us on the 9/15 flight out of Philly. We have a group of six taking up the front right corner of the plane (rows 6, 7 & 8 by the right window)

We are right behind you. We are in row 9 and 10 on the right hand side

I didn't realize the PB was so new. That makes a lot of sense b/c it's the same company and you would think they would have similar offerings. And it turns out that they do. Thanks for the info granmaz! :thumbsup2

I went back to the Praktik site and now the amount for TWO nights (Thurs and Fri) is 149.80 euro for BOTH nights total including taxes. I booked it. It is less than the HIE by about 35 euros. I don't understand, but I grabbed it. So, two more in a standard double.

So...is that 14 people, 8 rooms? :confused3 I don't think Marilyn and TA2 are in that count???

PJ, do a look see and find out what a single is for you.

There are 2 Praktik hotels. the Praktik rambla and the Praktik Barcelona. They are 6 blocks apart. The Praktik Barcelona is the one for 149.80 for 2 night. That is the one we are staying at.

We have booked our flights too! SOOOOOO excited!

We are leaving Toronto YYZ on Sept 15 with British Airways at 1855 with a stopover in London for 3 hrs in the morning, then on the 920am flight out of Heathrow landing in BCN at 1220 on the 16th! We paid a great rate of less than 600CADpp, tax in! We are thrilled. Still have to shop our MCO to YYZ flights, but not too worried about that right yet.

What are BA overseas flights like? I am a nervous flyer with a large backside. Great combo, huh? :rotfl: Those 17.5" seats will be a treat.

Yay!! We can hide our valuables under our shirts and walk the 6 blocks together to the DIS meet! :cool1:

Tony and I have a double booked at the Praktik Rambla ......

that makes it:

14 people
8 rooms

DH and I are also booked at the Praktik Ramblas so that should make the count 16? I sort of lost count. Anyway we will probably be the first ones there since we arrive the morning of 9/9. We'll be gone 2 days (9/14-16) to Girona and Figueres but we will be back probably when some of you will be checking in on Thursday 9/16. If you check out Googlemaps, the Praktik is surrounded by good restaurants. There is a Taller de Tapas a couple of blocks away.

Best way to get from the airport to the PR?
Thanks
TA2

on the praktik web site it has this info

From Airport

You have two options other than the taxi:

Bus: Take the aero-line bus, the blue bus, and get off at Plaça Catalunya, last stop. Price 3.45 €

Train: There is only one train line from the airport, also get off at Plaça Catalunya. Price 2.20 €

It takes 20 minutes.

It look like it is a 2 block walk to the praktik Rambla and 4 blocks to praktik Barcelona. We are thinking of taking one of this 2 options

Ok, where I am suppose to be staying the night before the cruise? ANGIE!!!! I am not staying way out in the boon docks by myself.

A single is;
PB is 65 euro, cheaper then HIX
PR is 97 euro, more expensive, but a savings in transport fees.

ANGIE!!?!!

PJ, we are at Praktik Barcelona now. Book there and save some $$ and we will walk the streets together!! :dance3: ;):lmao: I still need to cx HIX., but I am sure we want to make this move to save the $ AND be closer to the "action". I think it will save us some taxi fare also to get to where us tourists want to be. :)

Angie, Got it! I think the location is way better! I am now at PB as well, in a single.

Pj

My boss stayed in this area, and she said it is up near where all the high end shops are, uh la la. She really liked this area.
