I am wondering what time we check in. I guess we have to be out of our hotels 10am/11am, so it would be good to just go to the port then and get rid of the baggage.

So here's the updated list!

Praktik Rambla Rollcall

  • MagicMe - 1 room; 1 person
  • TheDisneyGirl02 & DBK1029 - 1 room; 2 people

Summary:

15 rooms
31 people

Unconfirmed: BibbidyBobbityBoo

Kim - Amy, Dave and I are arriving on the 16th!

Well ordering the lanyards(see first page of this thread) really helps. As long as people wear them that is a great way to see someone and go have a chat.

Definitely order the lanyards!! We had these on our Double Dip cruise in 2008 and it was great. I struck up many a conversation just seeing the lanyard. It was a great ice-breaker! Even my Mom (who doesn't own a computer so doesn't post) found it easy to strike up a conversation seeing the lanyard. AND, a number of us ordered shirts and wore them the first day so we were definitely easy to spot in the terminal too!

No, just take more spending money!!;) Can't have you three behaving yourselves!!!

Whew! Glad to hear that. It would have been difficult with PJ and Dennis!! I am, of course, never involved in misbehaving. :rolleyes1:lmao::rotfl:

That sounds right. Unless I really fall in love with Barcelona on Friday, once I am on that ship:woohoo: you will have a hard time dragging me off....even in Port Canaveral!

A misbehaving old geezer!!!!!(Oh, sorry, you said you weren't!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:)

I won't be getting off the ship once I am on there in Barcelona, but I will have had 3 full days of trailing round the city, so I will be putting my feet up!!!!!

You are?!! Through Amy I got the impression that you're leaving on the 16th and arriving on Friday. So we are on the same flight across the pond afterall!

It was really nice having people wear our logo on t-shirts on embarkation day. The greeting CMs even asked us who the big group with all the matching t-shirts were. Did I mention that we were only in Boarding Pass 3?! Having them also made a wonderful DIS picture!

I completely agree with you about the lanyards being awesome ice breakers for the whole cruise actually. Even though you might see someone with one who wasn't a DISer, you knew they were part of our family. Even a warm smile from a DISer's spouse as you passed through the hall was inviting! We had 469 DISers, friends, and family members. Hadley or Erik (they were our Landyard Team Leaders) can correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall that we had 298 lanyards floating around the ship. It was awesome!

So if anyone hasn't signed up for lanyards and name tags yet, do it! It makes a wonderful souvenir, too!

I would imagine it's close to or the the same time we board in Florida (noon-ish) because our B2B cruisers will be saying goodbye to their friends from the Med. cruise that morning. So the timing won't be too bad, in my opinion.

on the praktik web site it has this info

From Airport
You have two options other than the taxi:
Bus: Take the aero-line bus, the blue bus, and get off at Plaça Catalunya, last stop. Price 3.45 €
Train: There is only one train line from the airport, also get off at Plaça Catalunya. Price 2.20 €
It takes 20 minutes.
It look like it is a 2 block walk to the praktik Rambla and 4 blocks to praktik Barcelona. We are thinking of taking one of this 2 options

Thanks Nacho1337! Those prices are much more reasonable than taking a taxi. I've read that a taxi costs about $30/pp.

We arrive at the PR late on the 16th .... maybe too late to do anything other than dump our bags and head out to check out the area and grab a drink.
On the 17th, we plan to visit Sagrada Famiglia and Parc Guell, then in the late afternoon / evening wandering about in the Ramblas and the Gothic areas soaking up the atmosphere, dinner at Hard Rock Cafe and DIS meet for drinkies at whatever time that is planned for. :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

A DIS meet on the 17th sounds awesome!

Thanks so much for the updates and clarity around the list! Keep it coming!

Yes there is one in Manchester ... depending on what they are planning for the Saturday evening of Mousemeets we may end up in there at some point.

That sounds right. Unless I really fall in love with Barcelona on Friday, once I am on that ship:woohoo: you will have a hard time dragging me off....even in Port Canaveral!

I hope to see everything I want to see in Barcelona on the 17th, I know I won't want to get off the ship once I've embarked.

So I called this number, and it looks like you don't really need to call it after all! The guy at DCL didn't know why it says to call it on the website. It might be one of the numbers you want to keep on hand in case of emergencies when we are in Barcelona.

According to the guy I talked to at DCL....

Our cruise will not have the ability to book DCL tours in Barcelona.

Our cruise will be leaving at 9:31 pm and you must be on board for the lifeboat drill which he assumes will be at the normal time.

You can book transfers from one of the Disney hotels to the port. He thinks that it will be $30 pp and should be booked in advance.

He also mentioned that our cruise looked pretty full. "Not like the one going over!"

Thanks Kathy, that is very helpful. I guess booking the transfers would be worry free, though a taxi would no doubt be cheaper. I remember someone mentioned that we can take our luggage up to the La Meridian Hotel which is close to the Praktik Rambla, for transfers.

Why does this comp not have this function?
also why do cats eat thred with needles on?
also why do folks wait till animals are so desperate before taking them to vets?
also why are all the nutters in edinburgh phoning and bugging me tonight.
Also Is it a full moon, If I had time I would look?
See you in the am!

DUH!!! We're leaving on the 16th - arriving on the 17th!!

Shoot! :sad1: Well at least we still get 2 weeks together this time!

Thanks for calling and sharing what you learned. You saved them several calls!

Great to hear about the non-Disney hotels to port transfer options that some of you have discovered. On Monday, I inquired about it with Dreams, and they replied saying "if you book your pre-stay yourself, you can not purchase Disney Airport to Hotel transfers and if your pre-stay is not at a Disney authorized hotel, you will not be able to use hotel to port transfers." At this point, I'm still thinking a taxi will be my choice for two reasons. First, I have the luggage in my posession until I'm at port which makes me feel more confident it will find my room. Secondly, if you get on a bus for the transfer, that brings a large group of people to the port all at once. Lots of time to make that decision though!

Awe. What a frustating day you've had! Have a good night's sleep and have a great, fresh start tomorrow!

Dreams told us that the transfer between the hotel was not possible either!

We did book out pre-stay hotel ourselves and the airfare ourselves. We will be at the Hilton which is a Disney hotel. That may be why DCL said that we could do it.

Didn't think until I got off the phone to ask when the transfers left the Hilton for the port.

I am not sure if we will use the transfers. I would like time on Saturday morning to see if we can see some of the sights. We won't get to the hotel until about 5pm on Friday night and I have a feeling that we will just get dinner and then crash due to sleep deprivation.:sad2:

I might look into seeing about booking a car that will give us a quick tour of the city on the way to the port or maybe from the airport to the hotel. Hmmm....
