We had a great weekend. We went camping near Niagara Falls in our pop-up trailer. We stayed at Jellystone Park which was ok. Some of the sites were dreadful IMHO (open, no privacy, no trees) but the sites we selected were fine for that kind of park (we knew it would be different from a provincial park).
We went to the Falls for the 4th of July fireworks - that was a really neat experience. The kids saw the Falls during the daytime, and then all lit up at night. It was packed, though, kinda like WDW. At one point we were up against a stone and metal barrier and the edge of the falls was mere metres away! My friend and I were worried hens about the kids getting too close, then when papa took the baby to see the Falls I was quite worried. I'm gonna have to work myself up to the cruise!
The next day we went to the Butterfly Conservatory- cool! I was lucky enough to have many land on me and I got some great shots of butterflies and planted the seed in DP's brain that I love those butterfly specimen shadow boxes and Christmas is right around the corner...
All in all it was a great trip. I think we will go back next year and do some touristy kinda things around the Falls themselves (Maid of the Mist, Ripley's, etc). Wow that downtown core is bizarre! I can't decide it I think it's cool or grotesque. It's also a bit steep, with many people walking across the street, and tight turns. And me driving the van with the pop-up taking wrong turn after wrong turn! I was glad for electric brakes on the trailer and good vision.

(Did I mention the vehicle plus trailer is over 20 feet long?)
We're back now and the camping stuff is still not all put away. We're going again in a few weeks for a week quite far up north (past Sudbury) so should get our yearly quota of mosquitos and pine scent with that trip.
I love vacationing, and our coming cruises are never far away from my imagination!
