Welcome Terry & John,

Great to have another new family along. Thats 2 in one day:cool1:
I am Kathy and this is our first TA cruise too although have cruised with Disney many times and Carnival once.
I am in Oregon (our home state) for a few months but our home is in Florida and we will return there soon.

Be sure and check out all the information on the first page. There is a link to the web site for this cruise with lots of awesome infomation. Plus the roll call to sign up and to see who many of us are.

Nice to meet you:goodvibes

Kathy

Thanks, Kathy! I have checked out the first page, and I'm now sporting a new WB TA tag in my signature! (Thanks to whoever created it!).

I will sign up for the Roll Call, too. :)

P.S. I wish I were going to Florida with you! I really can't stand the winter anymore! :cold: LOL

Thanks! :yay: :yay: :yay:

Welcome Terry & John! I love seeing people that have bee 'around the DIS' for some time showing up here. It's like getting to met old friends you never knew you had! :lmao: :lmao:

I know what you mean! I feel like I "know" you, sort of! :upsidedow LOL

I'm so excited to know we're going on this cruise! It really is the perfect combination of: a bit of Europe, a lot of OCEAN (sea days are the best!), and a bit of the Caribbean, with the Castaway Cay cherry on top!! WOO HOO!

well then Officially :welcome: Aboard Mates

pirate:

Thanks, Captain! pirate:

Sea Spray and RunWithScissors - I love those names by the way! Welcome Aboard! You don't have to have gone on any TA or cruise, we welcome everyone and the more the merrier. Sea Spray - will be in Boston for July 4th - love the city!

Hadley - didn't know American Girl was in Boston - very excited, I will look it up tonight! Thanks!

The pictures of the dogs are adorable. My heart always weakens with a dog!

I checked SwissAir today from Orlando and the price was great. Of course, they only had 2009, but I was still happy! I might be booking that. By the way, I don't know if we discussed this before, but is anybody going to try and mail luggage to the ship before the cruise. I have never done that but my husband is convinced that one luggage is NOT enough.

Hello, All!

Happy to say we're joining you on the WBTA. I've been reading the thread and it looks like many of you know each other from previous cruises - this will be our 2nd Disney Cruise and 1st TA. Stateroom # is 8014 and we're waitlisted for Cat. 3 (doubt that'll happen but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.) Anyway, I guess I should introduce myself and the fam:

Me: Sarah
DH: Josh
DS: Hunter (will have just turned 8 at time of cruise)

We live in the DC Metro and I have family in Southeastern PA (have my undergrad degree from Penn State - "We Are..." anyone???) DH and I met at the University of Kansas while I was finishing my Master's and he was studying for the LSAT. We've also lived in Waco, TX and like to spend some time in San Antonio each year (love the Riverwalk!) We've been married 8 years.

DS is in 1st Grade and we'll (obviously) be pulling him from school for the cruise. We're hoping he'll have a few kids his age to play with.

Now that I've rambled...glad to meet y'all and we'll see you in 19 months! :woohoo:

Oh...Favorite books: Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd (read it years ago so I'm not a poser and reading it just because of the movie - which, incidentally, I haven't seen yet) and anything by Dan Brown - which may make me a poser, but I don't much care! ;)

:welcome: aboard! My Mom lives in Silver Spring, MD and my DH, Tony, and I live just outside San Antonio. We did the eastbound TA in '07 and loved it; looking forward to seeing the view heading in the other direction. ;)

When we did the last TA I brought 6 books with me figuring I'd have plenty of time to read them - never opened any of 'em. Never had the time. It is amazing how you can be as busy or non-busy as you'd like on these cruises.

Just rambling... anyway, welcome.:goodvibes

Hey everyone! We just got off the phone with our travel agent! WE ARE BOOKED ON THIS CRUISE!! WOO HOO!!!! :woohoo: :cool1: :yay: :cheer2:

Let me introduce ourselves! LOL

Me: Terry :surfweb: princess:
DH: John :surfweb: pirate:

We live 1/2 hour south of Boston, but I'm originally from New Jersey :sunny:
This will be our third Disney cruise (fifth cruise overall, including two Royal Caribbean cruise), but our very first transatlantic. :sail:

We're on Deck 6 in a Category 6 verandah cabin.

We're going on this cruise to celebrate our 10th anniversary! :bride: :groom:

DH is the manager of design services for a large electronics company, I work in the accounting department of a small finance company. We both love our jobs. I have 2 DSs from previous marriage who will be turning 21 and 18 this year. We took them on our previous 2 Disney cruises, but THIS one is just for DH and I! :lovestruc

I'm looking forward to chatting with all of you over the next year and a half! :grouphug:

:welcome: Glad you will be joining us! If you enjoy cruising and wish you had more time to spend on the ship, then the TA is the way to go. We had a great time when we did thel eastbound TA in '07 and are looking forward to doing this one after spending 10 hectic days sailing around the Med. :goodvibes

I would proceed with caution as far as mailing to the ship when they are based in Barcelona. Mail in Europe and especially Spain can get a little, um, how do I say this, confused. :confused3

I would call the cruise line and ask about it before doing so.

Hey I hit 100 posts!!!!:woohoo:

How cool is that? Not bad for someone who mostly lurks.:goodvibes

Welcome:wizard: The kids and I will be down your way tomorrow. I promised the mlunch at American Girl Place before we move and tomorrow it is. i am not looking forward to the drive (nearly two hours) but I am looking forward to the break in packing/work (we currently live in New Hampshire but are moving to Germany on the 30th). Anyway, I feel like I know you because I see you post often on the CB:upsidedow

Well everybody, our airfare to Germany was purcahsed by the company. We are flying Air Lingus--so I was happy to be able to tell Dave that DIS thread was just saying it is a good airline a few day ago;) I will be sure to post a report on it when I can. Oh, and even buying with only 2 weeks notice the airfare for the one way (to Frankfort--not BCN) was only $510--not bad I think.

Thanks for the welcome! :) Enjoy Boston! I didn't realize that there was an American Girl place there! :)

Best wishes on your move to Germany. My BIL was born there, and he and my DNiece travel back there every couple of years. They love to visit there, and the pictures they bring back are just beautiful.

Sea Spray and RunWithScissors - I love those names by the way! Welcome Aboard! You don't have to have gone on any TA or cruise, we welcome everyone and the more the merrier. Sea Spray - will be in Boston for July 4th - love the city!

Thanks for the welcome! I love Boston too, and never get tired of visiting there, even though I don't live very far. :sunny:

That's exactly what we're looking forward to, the extra days at sea! For us, it should prove to be the perfect balance of sight-seeing :3dglasses and relaxation :cloud9:

OK...I could just look at these two pictures for the rest of the night!!! Please, please post more!!! :yay: :yay:

Welcome to all of the newcomers!!!!! :)

The knee is still healing...I have therapy at 9am tomorrow morning and I may go for a big outing to Wegman's! How exciting! I'm hoping to go back to work in a week...key word - hoping!

Welcome to the two new families! I'm not great on the "quotes" feature ( can only seem to get one in there ) but read the new posts.

To RunWithScissors ( is that from the book?) I was able to get a Cat 3 just a few weeks ago that someone had cx. I needed a w/c accessible room and it was all I could get as all the other accessible staterooms and suites were booked. So perhaps your wtl for a suite will come through too. Obviously since it was available to me there wasn't anyone already on the waitlist so maybe you're now first on the list. Congrats to your hubby for making Partner!

To SeaSpray- I remember your posts about the Poly so feel I know you and your family a bit. I didn't realize your boys were young adults. Mine are too and are also not going with me ( I have two girls, two boys ). I am a widow so I'm going solo...well, my service dog will be with me. Congrats on your anniversary!

To both- I did the first Panama WB cruise and worried that I'd be bored. Boy was I wrong. They had to throw me off that ship when we arrived in LA! I was looking for an affordable longer cruise and this was it. Now I have to overcome my fear of flying that far. I live in Orlando so at least when the ship pulls in, I'm home and no more worries about air.

Amy-I'm glad your knee is healing. Therapy is probably the hard part but hopefully the pain isn't as bad at this point.

Orly- you are the cutest beagle ever! Your little sister is just too dang cute for words too-- I love puppies!

I'm excited to see so many people signing on for this cruise and wonder if the April TA is as full. Can't wait to meet everyone. I'll be the person who can't stop smiling- love that Mouse and love DCL!

Kathy ( and Skye)

I'm still smiling; this pic is soooooooooo cute. Have you decided on a name for her yet? (Keira??)

A BIG WELCOME to Sarah and Josh and Terry and John; so glad you're coming :goodvibes .

Welcome to the two new families! I'm not great on the "quotes" feature ( can only seem to get one in there ) but read the new posts.

Kathy ( and Skye)

Kathy, to get more than one quote in your message, for all messages except the last, click on the small box with the quotation marks, which can be found to the immediate right of the Quote box in the bottom right hand of the screen. For your last quote, click on the Quote box. That should do it. Hope this helps :flower3: .

Hi Kathy!! :wave2: I "know" you! And I recognise Skye, as well!

I'm not too thrilled with the long flight either, but I plan on being heavily medicated as we fly through the air across the ocean. :upsidedow That's great that you'll only have 1 flight. I guess after flying from Boston to Barcelona, flying from Orlando to Boston won't seem so bad. lol

Have a great day, everyone!! :wave2: :sunny:

American Girl is probably not top of the list for your young men:lmao: so I can see that you might have missed the excitement when it opened in the fall. We haven't been yet, so that is the one things they haven't done here that the kids really want to do. At least it is FREEZING today so I don't feel as badly about not doing the thigns we usually love in Boston (teh commons, hanging out and soaking up atmosphere on Havaard or MIT, MoS, MoA, Childrens museum, Fredoom Trail) because noone in their right mind would be OUT in this:eek:

Do you know what part of Germany your BiL was born in? I have yet to visit anywhere there whch isn't beautiful, but hten again I haven't been all that many places yet (I intend to change that when we live there!).

As far as flights, the good part about being in Boston is it is often the most economical sity in teh US to get to BCN or otehr European ports so it is really not a bad flight (and from the East coast it isn't THAT long). I actually prefer going across the Atlantic than across the country. At least on the TA fligths you get real food included in the price.

Sandi--the company booked us on Air Lingus and is paying about $50 each for us to be able to bring a second suitcase each. Maybe that is less than shipping would be anyway:confused3

Thanks for the info regarding the luggage - $50.00 is not that much - considering and yes, mailing to Barcelona did sound scary.

dclfun, I was so excited to see you are from Lakeland - WE ARE TOO!! I don't know when you signed on because I haven't been on in a while, but Welcome!

Hadley - have fun - enjoy the city!!!

I could post piccys all day, but dont want to hogg the thread!
We get her valentines day, maybe a few days earlier.

:welcome: aboard! My Mom lives in Silver Spring, MD and my DH, Tony, and I live just outside San Antonio. We did the eastbound TA in '07 and loved it; looking forward to seeing the view heading in the other direction. ;)

We actually lived in Silver Spring 3 years ago for 2 years-in the Sligo Creek section. DH works on K St. in DC and, although we were only 10 miles door-to-door, it took him an hour to get to work every day. We liked it there but the drive was too much.

I love San Antonio!! And, it's actually 2nd (behind WDW, of course) on my son's list of favorite places to visit. The wife of a friend of my husband's is an Orca trainer at Sea World and she always takes time out of her schedule to take us behind the scenes after the 'Believe' show. She's wonderful and Hunter just loves it.

Anway, thanks for the welcome!

Kathy ( and Skye)

Thanks, Kathy (and Skye, of course!) That's great that you were able to secure at Cat. 3! Skye will have plenty of places to relax when she's off duty! ;) It would be nice to receive a call from Disney telling us one has opened up but if not, we had a Cat. 4 on our first Disney Cruise and had enough room. Keeping my fingers crossed, though.

DH is very excited about his promotion (as am I, of course.) It's been a long time coming and he's put in some crazy hours so he deserves a nice vacation. When I suggested the TA as a celebratory vacation, he jumped at it. He's looking forward to the consecutive days at sea when he'll be able to say to work that his blackberry is truly out of range.

Welcome aboard! :wave2: This will be my fourth cruise but my first TA. However, my first two cruises were a 4-day and didn't really get involved with the DIS at that time. Hooked up with the DIS for my 7-day DD and loved it. We do have a few people from that cruise going on this one so I do know just a few people (at least face to face).
I think it's great that a number of the people sailing on this cruise know others from previous cruises. It'll be a mini-reunion for some of you! The DIS makes it so easy for people to get to know each other as well and, since we have so much time between now and the cruise, it'll feel like we all know each other when we finally meet face-to-face!

Welcome Sarah and family,
I am Kathy and DH is Greg. I only know a couple of people here so I am just learning who is who too. Mostly I lurk for now.
I met Angie and Dennis and have crusied with 2 others here a few years back.
This is our first TA cruise too but we dont know our room number yet.
Sorry we dont have kids to meet up with Hunter but I'm sure he will find a few friends here before the cruise.
Nice to meet you,:goodvibes
Kathy
Thanks, Kathy! I spend a good amount of time lurking, as well. My husband asks me for the low-down every night. ;)

I'm sure Hunter will find a few friends here. I have to go on the website to see if there are any kids his age signed up. Fourteen days is plenty of time to form some great friendships (for kids and adults, alike!):thumbsup2

We get her valentines day, maybe a few days earlier.

Ruby is a great name for an adorable puppy girl. (Just wish I could reach in and pick her up for some cuddling :lovestruc .)

We actually lived in Silver Spring 3 years ago for 2 years-in the Sligo Creek section. DH works on K St. in DC and, although we were only 10 miles door-to-door, it took him an hour to get to work every day. We liked it there but the drive was too much.

Anway, thanks for the welcome!

We've lived in the DC metro area for over 25 years and the only thing I hate is the traffic :scared1: . In 14 years of commuting, I put on around 320,000 miles on my car (yes, one car!). Fortunately, I don't have to do that anymore :woohoo: . DH still commutes, but not into the district, thank heavens.

That's so cool about going behind the scenes at Sea World. It's really interesting when you're able to do things like that. Good for Hunter.

Hey everyone, I am booked on this cruise but haven't really talked much on here. I've been posting on other threads for my back-to-back cruise coming up Febuary 21st-march 7th, 2009, but just wanted to say hi and after those cruises are over will start posting here more:goodvibes
