Oh, I want some S'mores! The ONLY time I'll ever eat marshmellows is when they are surrounded with chocolaty goodness. ::yes::

Hello, All!

Happy to say we're joining you on the WBTA. I've been reading the thread and it looks like many of you know each other from previous cruises - this will be our 2nd Disney Cruise and 1st TA. Stateroom # is 8014 and we're waitlisted for Cat. 3 (doubt that'll happen but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.) Anyway, I guess I should introduce myself and the fam:

Me: Sarah
DH: Josh
DS: Hunter (will have just turned 8 at time of cruise)

We live in the DC Metro and I have family in Southeastern PA (have my undergrad degree from Penn State - "We Are..." anyone???) DH and I met at the University of Kansas while I was finishing my Master's and he was studying for the LSAT. We've also lived in Waco, TX and like to spend some time in San Antonio each year (love the Riverwalk!) We've been married 8 years.

DS is in 1st Grade and we'll (obviously) be pulling him from school for the cruise. We're hoping he'll have a few kids his age to play with.

Now that I've rambled...glad to meet y'all and we'll see you in 19 months! :woohoo:

Oh...Favorite books: Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd (read it years ago so I'm not a poser and reading it just because of the movie - which, incidentally, I haven't seen yet) and anything by Dan Brown - which may make me a poser, but I don't much care! ;)

YEAH another Sarah! I think this might make 4 of us on this cruise lol. This is my 6th cruise I think (or 5th cant work it out this morning) but it will be Dan my boyfriends first! Hopefully it will be fine and he'll love it. We have similar tastes so I'm sure he will.

Anyway welcome aboard!

Hey everyone! We just got off the phone with our travel agent! WE ARE BOOKED ON THIS CRUISE!! WOO HOO!!!! :woohoo: :cool1: :yay: :cheer2:
Let me introduce ourselves! LOL
Me: Terry :surfweb: princess:
DH: John :surfweb: pirate:
We live 1/2 hour south of Boston, but I'm originally from New Jersey :sunny:
This will be our third Disney cruise (fifth cruise overall, including two Royal Caribbean cruise), but our very first transatlantic. :sail:
We're on Deck 6 in a Category 6 verandah cabin.
We're going on this cruise to celebrate our 10th anniversary! :bride: :groom:
DH is the manager of design services for a large electronics company, I work in the accounting department of a small finance company. We both love our jobs. I have 2 DSs from previous marriage who will be turning 21 and 18 this year. We took them on our previous 2 Disney cruises, but THIS one is just for DH and I! :lovestruc
I'm looking forward to chatting with all of you over the next year and a half! :grouphug:

Welcome! Looks like we've got quite a few new people joining which is great fun!

YES! What time would be good for you. I have wireless and I know it is hooked up, but I never tried that before. Just give me the date and time - I am there and not that good, but I love it!

WOHOW! I've managed to get mine hooked up I think lol! Played Mario Kart against my sister last night and that worked so all good

I could post piccys all day, but dont want to hogg the thread!
We get her valentines day, maybe a few days earlier.

Ruby's a lovely name!

We got a wonderful snow storm yesterday! :goodvibes It's our first real snowfall of the season.

However, we're waking up to -3 degrees F this morning. Tomorrow it's to be even worse. Knowing this is around much of the US or on its way to you, be careful out there if you're in this Arctic Blast's way!!

STAY WARM!!

Okay it isn't -3, but we woke up in Florida this morning and it is "freezing" in our land. Hopefully if you are here, you have clothes to bundle up. I cannot believe it. I do have all my flowers covered and hopefully I won't lose them like last year.

Stay warm Kimberly and hang in there! For all the newcomers - WELCOME!!!! :grouphug:

Kimberly you stay warm too. When we drove to Boston yesterday, Marika knew before I even asked her to to pack up a bag of all our snow pants and gloves, etc to keep in the car "just in case" Luckily we did not need them--but I thought for a minute we might. We passed a car sideways in hte ditch about 10 minutes from the house. I stopped to make sure no one was still in it and as I was walking up coudl see that the tracks were totally fresh and not obsucred by wind or other cars yet and realized I was first on the scene. For a moment htere I was very worried, but as I got close a lovely teen girl popped her head out the window. She was compeltely uninjured (hurray seat belts) and had already called her dad who was on his way. SO, I just stayed and talked with her for about 5 minutes to help her stay calm (and to watch her in case she WAS injured and just didn't know it) until her dad got there. Moral of the story--stay warm and drive carefully and wear those seatbelts (thank goodness that young lady did--it is not legally required in New Hampshire and a lot of people do not).

Good luck to your flowers.

We are out of the way of the Arctic blast hitting most of the country here in Oregon although I am 35 right now.
I will keep those of you in the cold in my thoughts and prayers.
I always worry about those who loose power and dont have fireplaces or wood stoves to keep warm.

I assume they have shelters set up for these people but they still would have to get to them which is no easy task, especially for the elderly.
Here's some pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: for all of you.

Thanks, Sarah (glad to see you spell your name correctly ;) ) I'm sure Dan will enjoy the cruise. I was worried about my husband when we first did the Disney Cruise but it was all for naught - he loved it! Shortly after our Disney Cruise, we went on a 4-day RCCL cruise to Mexico with one of his clients (they chartered the entire ship for their employees but the company was going through some legal issues with the gov't so my husband and I were invited so he could work with the Pres. and CEO of the company while they were on the ship (captive audience. ;) ) Anyway, Josh kept comparing RCCL to DCL and decided there was no comparison-Disney does it better. Anyway, I digress-can't wait to meet you!

We've lived in the DC metro area for over 25 years and the only thing I hate is the traffic :scared1: . In 14 years of commuting, I put on around 320,000 miles on my car (yes, one car!). Fortunately, I don't have to do that anymore :woohoo: . DH still commutes, but not into the district, thank heavens.

320K miles on your car-WOW! What kind of car was it???

Josh uses the Metro now which is super-convenient and I like the fact that he doesn't have exhorbanent parking garage fees anymore. We were paying $320/month for his garage membership on top of his car payment and insurance. Metro is $120/month and he's able to work, listen to his i-Pod, etc. on the ride to and from the district.

Angie, we've never been to VB. Please fill us in on the details :flower3: .

We are staying in the Inn garden view room. It is a studio, but with 2 beds instead of a hide-a-bed. I like the location of the room in the Inn but can't compare the free standing units. The resort is smaller than those at The World so even in those units it would not be a very far walk to access restaurants, pool, etc. The lobby is comfortable and has free WiFi access. Being a bit computer illiterate, I don't understand how they can have the WiFi available in the lobby, but not in the rooms direcly above it. :confused3 There is a walkway to the beach that requires a room key for access. The grounds are well kept, the paint is fresh and clean everywhere. They are doing some refurbishing in the lobby area right now, so there are partitions up to wall off those areas and some noise from the work. It will be very nice when completed. There are lots of activities for kids, crafts, pool games (in warmer weather of course), the campfire I mentioned, miniature golf, an unbirthday party, etc. Anything specific you would like to know?

There seems to be lots of activities nearby....boat excursions to see manatees, kayak excursions, some historical museums, shopping, etc.
