Good thing Disney doesn't mind us bringing our own alcohol on board. Are there any duty free shops in Barcelona? Or is it not too expensive at a regular shop near the port?

I know this question was asked days ago, but I just caught up after being on the Celebrity Solstice for the last week (and not reading the boards even once...)

Before the 2007 TA, we discovered the wine shop in El Corte Ingles, which is a department store located at the top of Las Ramblas. The wine department is on the lower level, in the grocery store. The selection is fabulous, and the prices incredible! We brought a carry-on with 11 bottles onto the Magic!

We are at Beach Club Villas this week, trying to avoid the cold weather in Virginia, but it looks like it will be cold even here. Then we board the Wonder on Sunday --- anyone else going to be on board for that sailing?

Marilyn

Oh I have been in that exact store, granted some 17 years ago! I will need to stock up on wine and liquor before we board the ship. I'm planning on spending a few days in the city/area before the cruise.

Happy Superbowl Sunday everyone!

Can I join this thread too? Just made my reservation for this cruise Thursday, and I'm pumped! Haven't been on a cruise since I sailed the Disney Wonder on a 3 day cruise in August 2000.

This one looks like a lot of fun! So far, it's just me, but that's ok -I'm sure it'll be fun.

Now to go back through 100+ pages....:rotfl:

:welcome: Aboard Mate , and after the 100 plus pages dont forget there is Part 1 :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Hello all...hello to Nordkin...that's at least a name I recognize from 3+ years ago. We made our transatlantic reservation on the 1/17 cruise. We're hoping a couple of our FL friends will join us, and maybe some more from VA. We have plenty of time to bug them.

I don't think we've ever had so long to plan, over 18 months! We did both WB Panama cruises and the 11-night southern Carib so the weeklong cruise was far too short. But thankfully I think I can fit in 2 more weeklong cruises before the transatlantic. And maybe a research trip to Barcelona. :) I haven't been there since the '92 Olympics.

Happy sailing!

:welcome: Aboard Mate

Got2travel, where do you live? Hilltop area? I don't go there often, but there is a super amazing chinese buffet at the mall that I have to visit every once in a while! I'm a glutton for Chinese!

Whew, long post, sorry!

would it be East Buffet???? 5 minutes from my house, I'm very near Hilltop.

American Sarah, you are correct, the other Sarah and myself and a few others are from the uk!, check out the map, although I seem to move about, lol

I was looking at the google map of san fran and it is so cool you can walk about and get 3d views, Ive never noticed that before.

Well, American Sarah it is then! lol, I never actually thought I would hear myself referred to American Sarah again. It's been awhile since I've been in England so I'm not used to being the american in the group.

Google maps is scary fun now. Just the other day I was driving around running errands in Napa and my DBF and I saw the Google Maps street view car driving around. It had a super gnarly 360 degree camera mounted on top!

When I lived in England I went to a lock-in (back in the day of 11pm pub closing) to watch the superbowl with the American Football club and cheer squad of the University I went to. If you search hard enough you can find some big American Football fans to party with. Two of the biggest fans I know are from England!

We have had a fun start to our day today. They said our low was going to be 35 last night but we hit 25, so we woke up to frozen water pipes:sad2:

Since we are in an RV our door is metal. So guess what else was frozen, yep the door was frozen shut:scared: Greg was going to take our dogs out to relieve themselves this morning and the door wouldnt open.

Yikes! Glad the dogs made it out in time!
Did you guys see the most recent episode where Jim and Michelle went to San Francisco and they wandered into a "head shop". :scared: Jim commented on the "interesting glassware" that were actually pipes (for pot-smoking, I'd assume).

Anyway, I enjoy the show and I don't have anything against their lifestyle! I just stay away from the threads on the Community Board. LOL
I saw that episode last week. I loved her comment when they were interviewing her she was like, "Where were we?" I like the show and don't have anything against them either, they seem to have things under control.
I hope the groundhog DOESN'T see his shadow tomorrow! LOL

Me too, but I don't think we will be so lucky here...they are predicting more cold weather. On Saturday we finally got above freezing for the first time in a month! The last time we had been above freezing was on Dec 29, 2008!!
Happy Superbowl Sunday everyone!

I seriously wish I was anywhere in the states! I would be drinking bud select and ordering pizza.

me too Lynn - although my tipple of choice would be Bud Light, and even though I don't understand the first thing about American football, it's a great excuse for a party!:cool1:

American Sarah - unfortunately we are still going to end up with some confusion as the two UK Sarahs (one of which is myself and the other who is Gismo) are both Welsh Sarahs, although we could make a distinction between North Wales Sarah (me) and South Wales Sarah (Gismo)!

Hey, A Sarah, If I hadnt been at work I would have been happy to party myself!!!

me too Lynn - although my tipple of choice would be Bud Light, and even though I don't understand the first thing about American football, it's a great excuse for a party!:cool1:

It is an amazing excuse for a party(although I am not big on excuses;) ) No need really, lol. Bud anything if we are in the usa to drink it eh?

We have snow, yes, and I have finished work for a week so I can enjoy the snow and not worry about getting to work, Me and Orly(Orly and I) boy is going for a walk to feed the horse some extra, he goes radio rental in the snow. I will try to get some pics for you all( not that you are interested but tough!:) )

I can't imagine sleeping in a single anymore. DH is 6'4" (I call him my dainty little lad :lmao: ) and we don't fit well in anything smaller than a king.

LOL last year we attempted to share the said single bed and neither of us are thin so it wasn't the best plan! In the end Dan ended up sleeping on the floor next to the bed as we couldn't find a position to get comfortable in!

Sarah thanks for the info. I had not realized the flight could be a problem. We will keep him moving and the arm elevated. We leave tomorrow:scared:

Do you have heat on at your house yet??? You must be more than ready to eb back in your own home and own bed again

Yeah we do have heat as of Friday! The landlord had to call an engineer out in the end but its all sorted! Loving being back in my own bed! Feels normal again lol
