I agree about getting Euros ahead of time. I just called my bank, they gave me a couple of listings of nearby branches that had Euros. I was able to get them no problem. I hate getting somewhere and not having local currency for taxis, snacks, etc.

Yes, the airports have exchange, yes there are ATMs around (but in Europe you have to have a 5 digit pin and it can't start with a 0), and yes the ship will exchange money for you. But why spend your vacation dealing with that? Just bring it with you.

Queastion? If you don't spend all the Euros while in Europe will the banks exchange them back to dollars when you get home? I know this is probably a dumb question. I have never traveled much and the only times out of the country was on previous cruises and just over the borders to Canada and Mexico about a hundred years ago.

I noticed that the ship doesn't leave Barcelona until about 9pm on debarkton day but the mandentory saftey drill is about 5pm. Will we be able to leave th ship in between or do we stay on the ship? I know another dumb question?

Yes, the banks will buy back the Euros but at a lower rate than what they sold them to you for. So it's a good idea to try to spend it all. I still have a few coins, probably about $10 worth. I just gave them to my son who didn't cruise with me. May try to sneak some back for this trip.

You will be able to leave the ship. In 2007 we didn't leave Barcelona until the next day but the saftey drill was at 3:30pm the first day. I was out exploring the city and did not attend the drill. I got a stern letter telling me about the importance of the drill but that was it.

:wave2: Everyone!

I'm finally home! I know you all missed me! :lmao:

Life has been a whirlwind since Feb/Mar but I believe that I may finally be settling down enough to attempt to keep up. Just got back from a spring break trip to Europe with the girls and about 38 other spoiled brats - you think we complained about Europe? You should have seen the girls! :scared1: We got delayed by one day in London due to our plane having a generator problem from Madrid to London but we spent the night at the Renaissance Hotel outside the London/Heathrow airport. Did you know the Pound was less than the Euro? :scared1: I guess things have been pretty bad.

Anyway, not sure if I've missed much but when I logged onto the DIS, I have noticed some changes on notifications. Now, can anyone tell me how to clear the notifications? I've looked at them but they haven't cleared. Anything else I should be aware of? ;)

Now :scratchin off to see what I can catch up with.

Talk to you all later.

Well all I move tomorrow so probably wont be on for the next few days. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Good luck with the move Sarah, hope it goes well!:goodvibes

Hello transatlantic cruisers!!

I haven't posted a note yet on this thread, although it was this thread that got me interested enough to book this cruise. I kept seeing the date of my 60th birthday and then I told my best friend forever, Terry and then we found out the cruise would be in St. Marteen on her birthday and next thing you know, we're booked!

Terry, aka my BFF aka tinker1bell has posted here and shared that we will indeed be on this cruise. To say I'm excited is an understatement. I have not gone back and read every post from both threads (although Terry did!), but I figured it was time for me to drop in and say hi! Especially since Terry is hellbent on sending in a photo...

So, here I am, the other half of the spa twins. Excited to get to know everyone in the coming year. :yay::dance3::yay::banana:

Welcome aboard! Look forward to meeting you (and your twin!)

Hey everyone!

I haven't posted here in about 6 million years....but I have tried to "lurk" and read to catch up at least once a week. My life has just been crazy busy here.....work and preparing for an AIDS Walk that I walk in every year and try to raise money for and cheerleading and everything..... and life will still be busy for about another 3 or 4 days but then we get to finish preparations for our trip to WDW!! HOORAY!!!!:thumbsup2 We'll be checking into the brand new Kidani Village building of Animal Kingdom Lodge Viillas on May 1st when they open, staying for 10 days and then doing a 4 night on the wonder...yippeee!!!!!!

Erik, I was scheduled to stay at Kidani Village the first week of May also, but had to cancel because my DH is having back surgery a few weeks later. He can't walk for more than about 5 minutes without pain, so Disney World isn't a good place to be. We will now stay there for 10 days during Food & Wine Festival in October, following 9 days at Bay Lake Towers.

Take lots of pictures, and let us know how Kidani Village is!

Oh, I think I might see the makings of a Dis mini meet. We are flying to Orlando on September 30th. We have not made any concrete plans for the first 3 nights, but will either stay near the airport and do the Florida Mall and Seaworld or head out towards the gulf coast for a couple of nights.
We will be on the Magic from October 3rd and then we will be at WDW from October 11th to 19th. We are doing a split stay and will spend 4 nights in a Savannah view studio at AKV Jambo House followed by 5 nights at OKW. I would definitely be up for a meet.

Corinna

We will be at Kidani Village while you are at Jambo house -- it definitely sounds like a good time for a DIS mini-meet!

We were originally booked for three nights in a standard view studio at Kidani, but I soon started getting multiple regrets: it seemed a shame not having a Savannah view on our first stay at AKL, three nights did not seem enough and also the lack of food options at Kidani. Sanaa does not appeal to us at all, but I love Boma and really want to try Jiko. So I was more than a little relieved when I rang back to change to 4 nights and a Savannah view, that they could only offer me Jambo House.

I'm so jealous!!!! Have a great time! My sister is scheduled to stay at Kidani in July and she's very excited about it!!!
