I was just reading the news online about the Carnival cruise ship. I had to laugh when I read this quote from a passenger:

"People are playing cards. People are standing around just kind of talking. They're getting to socialize," Zambrano said. "It's not what you would expect on a normal cruise"

Apparently he has never been on a Disney cruise where we love socializing and playing cards. That IS "normal". I thought it was funny and had to share!

You have hit the nail on the head!! Though John and I have been on many cruises we are pretty much sticking to DCL these days mostly because of all the DISers we have met. It takes us back to the old days when you received a list in your room with everyones name and home listed. We made great friends with tablemates over the years but never as close as the ones we have made on the DIS.

I'm sitting at Barnes and Noble killing time until I have to go pick Dave up from work. Tonight is his grandmother's 79th birthday party so we are attending that.

I was hoping to have lost all of my cruise weight by this point, but no...Two weeks in a row I've gained. Oh well...I just hope it comes off sooner rather than later.

Have fun at Dave's GM's bday party. This is the hardest time of the year to loose weight with the holidays coming so don't be so hard on yourself.

Lynne, someone on next year's TA thread is asking about getting to the beach where the planes land just behind. Did you just get a taxi at the port? How long did it take?

We got a taxi, it took longer than we expected and longer than they said because we dropped others of in town, I would allow half an hour at least.
Lots of taxis to go back.it was 8 dollars each,each way, lovely beach, take your snorkel stuff if they have any.

Regarding Ducky Williams certificates

This is the response I got from DCL:

11/2/10 Dear Angela:
Thank you for your e-mail. Please accept our regret for any disappointment with the certificates for the Ducky Williams print and any delay in sending a correction. We would be happy to provide you with the correct certificate. However, ifpossible, can you please fax to 407-566-3541 or reply to this e-mail with an attachment of the incorrect certificate that you received. Please allow 2-3 weeks for the certificates to be replaced once the requested information is received.

And the response I sent them (again thru their website including an explaination that I cannot reply as Joseph suggested as the email address he used does not allow a reply)What???? It was verified on board that we received the wrong certificate. We gave our name and address which was put on a list. Please explain why I need to go to the expense of faxing this to you. We are retired, do not have an employer provided fax we can use and no way to "attach" a copy of a document. Do you not have verification from the ship, with the list of names that needed corrected certificates?


I think I am the grumpy lady now. They should follow through with what they promised on the ship and get these sent out to all of us.

We also were requested to scan/fax - I scanned it in the copier at work - I'm happy to send a copy to anyone that needs it.

The correct cert arrived earlier this week via Fed-Ex - I was surprised how fast it got here.

Did any of you guys get a postcard thanking you for comments? I wrote a little letter and put it inside the comment card, I thought it was a nice touch, although most of the comments were good, one part was not so good about my gym experiance but they sucked it up and thanked me.Good for Disney.

Yes - I wrote a note to go with the regular comment card with a series of suggestions (and a wee whinge) and received the card with a note saying they were definitely taking my comments into consideration.

I just pushed out our dummy date to June 24 2012 on the Dream - double dip to Castaway and its also the Podcast 3.0 cruise - not sure if we'll stick with it but timing would work quite well for us as its middle of our winter and we will have a bucket load of DVC points to use - thinking Vero, Hilton Head and who knows... however if they cruise to Hawaii, all that could change

Strangling the poor creature was the effect that Graham was after. I would have said that this is not something that he would have gotten away with with a Disney character, but after this photo, I am no longer so sure.

Paula, we still have not received our corrected certificate and I do not have one to fax. They took the incorrect one from us at Guest Services on the ship. We had no problem with that as we had no need for a certificate with no print to go with it. I'll wait a week or so and then call Jospeh if ours does not arrive.

We will definitely stay at Hawaii at some point (its the closest DVC resort to us) but I don't like our chances at the 7 month window initially - also by 2012 we will have 320 points needing to be used so we would get more options on the east coast

And as of about an hour ago, it looks like Mum and I might be going to India at about this time next year! Very excited! I've always wanted to see Rajasthan in the north of India.
