Amy - so sorry to hear about your job. Companies can be so heartless and I hope you find something real soon.

Noel - I wish I could sit down and chat with you again because my husband is going through the whole investor thing right now with his invention. He has a meeting with a huge company on the 11th of March. Your husband's story and his story are so similar.

Our friends just booked the May TA cruise and they are so excited. They are screaming to me on my text messaging. All caps and exclamations is the screaming!

By the way, since the earthquake has anyone heard from Paula or her mom. I have been thinking about them.

If you would like your DH to chat with mine about investors, pls PM me. He and his partners raised 30 million for his previous company and is very familiar with investor pitches. In this investment climate, the investors want the moon!!

She posted on FB that they had power restored about 9 hours ago but not much more.

From Paula on FB about half an hour ago

Is getting out of bed to face the day - but I'd really like to crawl back under the covers and wake up to find this was all a bad dream

From Paul on FB about 5 minutes ago:

.. Robert has arrived safely at his Mum's - sand volcanos all the way from Glandovy to Springfield Rd - her driveway has about a foot of sand in it and its also in the house - he said he doesn't know where to start :-

Hi everyone!

Dave and I were just talking last night about how much we miss everyone from the cruise!

Guess who I'm going to see again?! The cast of Glee in Concert!!!! It's not until June, but I'm excited. They are coming to Philly so it's a bit closer than NYC.

I hope everyone is doing well...

:)
yipeeeeeee

The following is attributed to John Cleese. I kind of doubt it, but it's hilarious nonetheless.

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent terrorist threats and have therefore raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved."

Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross."

The English have not been "A Bit Cross" since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies nearly ran out.

Terrorists have been re-categorized from "Tiresome" to "A Bloody Nuisance."

The last time the British issued a "Bloody Nuisance" warning level was in 1588, when threatened by the Spanish Armada.

*****

The Scots have raised their threat level from "P***ed Off" to "Let's get the B******s."

They don't have any other levels.

This is the reason they have been used on the front line of the British army for the last 300 years.
Dont mess with the scots when they are going on holiday, pml

You guys may have forever ruined me from being happy with a DIS group ever again. Or it's just that my work is nuts, and I'm travelling every week for work, and I just don't have time to keep up with the threads for my future cruises. But that excuse doesn't work, since I stayed up many a night reading this group's threads in an effort to keep up even when I was travelling.

For whatever reason, I can't seem to really get too into the meet threads for my upcoming cruises. To top it off, there are lots of attitudes running around the DIS these days that just seem quite negative for whatever reason. I know we're having a beautiful full moon outside tonight, but seriously, there seems to be attacks, backstabbing, negative comments, and little battles all over the board in every place I look tonight.

Some of the things that make me feel a little bit sad about being a board member these days (which I'm coming here to vent about) include:

- My August 2011 Dream cruise, that on the day it was booked quickly skyrocketed in number of posts to rival this tread at it's heyday, has now resulted in three separate meet threads and a Facebook site (just on the DIS alone, not counting Passporter, CC or other board threads) because folks can't or won't even try to get along. We'd had a website set up from the very beginning, that has grown to include members from all 3 "factions", which is driving the person who set up the site nuts since some folks have chosen to speak negatively about another group, putting her in a difficult position that's inconsistent with a "vacation." Oh, and did I mention that we've never been able to rebook that cruise to get OBB benefits, and our 9A corner room, while quite spacious, has a cruddy little window and our kids sleeping on opposite sides of the room with no way to close them off from the rest of the room when they go to bed early, which will put quite a crimp in our cruising style. I'd switch to the 8/21 cruise, which I also have booked, except that our kids' godparents and family are going on the 8/16 cruise with us, and I'd feel guilty about abandoning them.

- I was really aggravated earlier tonight when someone posted something that seemed pretty neat, and someone else jumped into the thread and started bad mouthing and making negative implications against another board member, who wasn't even participating in the discussion (can you say way off topic??) I tried very hard to avoid saying anything, in an effort to keep the topic focused on the purpose, but finally chimed back in when the attacks spread to include others (again going way off from the original topic.)

- Then someone else got everyone all worked up about unreported "obstructions" on the Dream, and complained that I should have pointed them out on my special rooms thread, when I don't even think they qualify as obstructions since they are part of the main design of the ship, and existed on the Magic/Wonder without ever being considered as obstructions on those ships. Thankfully others have chimed into that thread making the same statement, but it's taken the fun out of helping folks quite a bit.

Anyway, for those reasons and others, I just can't quite get as engaged in the discussions like we did in preparation for this cruise, and I admit that I miss it.

On a positive note, I booked the 11/17/12 Thanksgiving cruise on the Fantasy this wednesday morning when Tracy notified me those dates had been released. Cost just a slight bit more than the August Western cruise I'd had booked, but we also upgraded to a 8A room so that accounted for much of the price difference, making it seem pretty reasonable for a holiday cruise.

I have to say, this was and is the best thread Ive been on.

Thank you everyone who responded about the travel survey. I have pm'd everyone back. The more surveys received the better the survey results will be so If you pm'd me and i need your email please respond.

I've missed all of you over the last few months. Will try to post more often now that I'm down to 3 classes. We leave next week for Disney World and then onto the Dream.

Again thank you for responding to my survey.

How exciting. Disney World then the Dream. You both are lucky ducks. My friend Sandy is going on the Dream next week. Have fun and take lots of notes. Say hi to all my favorite friends down there. Especially. Fairy God Mother for me. Mickey for Walt. Pluto for Elijah. Minnie for Asiah.

I agree. We need to do a "reunion" cruise.

I miss everybody, but after what I am going through at the moment, I would be very reluctant to ever commit myself to a reunion cruise again. I cruised with a fantastic group in October 2009 and we were planning a reunion cruise for this October. I moved heaven and earth to be there.

Some of you might remember that originally it was our plan to do our vow renewal on the WBTA, but once I new that I would be cruising with this fantastic group again, we decided to postpone this for another year and do it on the reunion cruise. The girls of one of the families were going to be my flower girls and we spent months discussing dresses, jewellery, hair accessories, etc. I was so looking forward to all this. Fast forward to last Friday. The mother of the two girls that were supposed to be my flower girls suddenly announced on the cruise meet thread that they had to cancel as her husband cannot get leave. The possibility of this happening was never even mentioned until I let her know that DCL has confirmed the vow renewal two days earlier. Since then, 3 other families have jumped ship. From the original group of 8 families (one had to cancel last year for financial reasons), there are no a maximum of 3 left. Well, I only know for sure that Graham and I are still booked. The other two families never post and I have never met them on the last cruise.

So I am now faced with the choice of having a vow renewal with just Graham and me or to cancel. As this is most likely to take place on the first full day, I would not even have the option to see if we get on with our table mates and invite them. DFTW also wants names and reservation numbers of guests two months ahead now so it probably would not have worked anyway even if the vow renewal had been scheduled for the end of the cruise. We have decided to cancel the vow renewal. I am absolutely heartbroken and to say that I am spitting nails at the moment would be the understatement of the year.

Corinna
