Sept 18 2010 WB TransAtlantic Pirates/Capt Jacks Re-Repoing Repossession Cruise Pt.10

Hi everyone, just wanted to let you know that I am finally getting some answers about my Vertigo. After getting an MRI done, which was negative. They did see a lot of lesions from all of the migraine headaches I have had in my life, but no tumor. Then an Ophthalmologist wanted to rule out Myasthenia Gravis because for about five weeks I had had double vision. Then I had a Videonystagmography test also called a VNG test done.
This one involved wearing goggles with a cover on and I would do various eye tests. It also involved having cold air blown into my ears and then warm air. That was very intense and my head hurt the whole next day. The one thing was that she also tested my hearing and told me it was perfect. That made me very happy.
The end result is that I definitely have an inner ear problem. So my ENT does not feel that intense physical therapy would help me, so he is referring me to another ENT specialist at Johns Hopkins. Not sure when that will happen, but I told him I wanted to get aggressive about this because I want answers. This is getting very frustrating not knowing how I am going to feel day to day.
Otherwise, my daughter Guenna is doing good with her pregnancy and miss Vivian Olivia is doing just fine. It is weird tho that right now she thinks she has an inner ear infection!!!!

I finally put a ticker on my signature cause I told all of the doctors that I will not give up my cruises. I am getting very excited since I have not seen Disneyland since 1968 and I think maybe it has changed a little??? :rolleyes1:lmao::cool1::rotfl:

Congrats on the ticker:thumbsup2

Please keep us posted. I am also very interested in your diagnosis as my DD Jennifer has the same problems with no diagnosis as well.

Great news about the pregnancy but sorry to hear about the ear infection!

Just a tad. Love Disneyland but hard to go back to after WDW, I am afraid.

I am glad that they are managing to rule things out and can at least answer some of your questions. I hope that they manage to find out soon what the problem is and that they manage to trat it.

Noel,,I hope Jennifer gets some answers,,,I just kept asking and insisting for more help. I will be glad to keep you posted.

I had always wanted to visit Disneyland and this will be the perfect time to visit with Stephanie. The last time I visited was after my Senior Prom. Hubby had taken me earlier that year.

I hope so as well. Please keep me posted as to what you find out as it may also be helpful to her. Have fun at Disneyland. It is still one of my most favorite places on Earth!!

Hi everyone!

Dave and I were just talking last night about how much we miss everyone from the cruise!

Guess who I'm going to see again?! The cast of Glee in Concert!!!! It's not until June, but I'm excited. They are coming to Philly so it's a bit closer than NYC.

I hope everyone is doing well...

:)

Just had to share my good news .... we are officially booked on the 2011 WBTA, and I am just a teeny weeny bit excited :yay::yay::yay:

Congrats! Wish we could join you but we have to save our pennies for a graduation cruise (DD#4) and a 21st birthday cruise (DD#3) in 2012 - and, of course, they have to be separate!

Congrats on booking the cruise Sarah! I would love to do the cruise again!

Terry - so glad you are getting closer and closer to finding an answer about your Vertigo. I hope you really enjoy Disneyland with Stephanie, you will have a blast.

Amy - miss you too. Have fun at Glee (even though it isn't till June).

How exciting ... sounds like a lot of fun.

Would love you to join us too  . What are your 2012 plans .... I would love to do a cruise on the Fantasy. We will be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary in October 2012 and that's got to be a good excuse for a cruise :rolleyes1

In June we're planning to fly to Alaska and spend a few days seeing Anchorage, Denali, etc. followed by a south-bound cruise. Unfortunately, unless the Wonder changes its itinerary (doubtful), we'll be going on a different cruise line. We've done two Alaska cruises on HAL using our DVC points, so that's looking most probably at this point (not on points, though, DVC doesn't do that any more).

We need to go in early June after school finishes because Kimberly is applying to the US Naval Academy and if she's accepted, she has to report in at the end of June.

In August, we'll be going on a Caribbean cruise. Kristen turns 21 at the end of the month and she wants to try her hand at gambling when she's legal. Therefore, no Disney again!

Gee, if we don't clear the waitlist for the DVC member cruise this year, the Fantasy sounds good! 3 cruises in one year? We haven't done that since 2006 - I think I can handle it!

The following is attributed to John Cleese. I kind of doubt it, but it's hilarious nonetheless.

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent terrorist threats and have therefore raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved."

Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross."

The English have not been "A Bit Cross" since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies nearly ran out.

Terrorists have been re-categorized from "Tiresome" to "A Bloody Nuisance."

The last time the British issued a "Bloody Nuisance" warning level was in 1588, when threatened by the Spanish Armada.

*****

The Scots have raised their threat level from "P***ed Off" to "Let's get the B******s."

They don't have any other levels.

This is the reason they have been used on the front line of the British army for the last 300 years.

This is really funny .... doesn't say anything about the Welsh though :rotfl2:

You guys may have forever ruined me from being happy with a DIS group ever again. Or it's just that my work is nuts, and I'm travelling every week for work, and I just don't have time to keep up with the threads for my future cruises. But that excuse doesn't work, since I stayed up many a night reading this group's threads in an effort to keep up even when I was travelling.

For whatever reason, I can't seem to really get too into the meet threads for my upcoming cruises. To top it off, there are lots of attitudes running around the DIS these days that just seem quite negative for whatever reason. I know we're having a beautiful full moon outside tonight, but seriously, there seems to be attacks, backstabbing, negative comments, and little battles all over the board in every place I look tonight.

Some of the things that make me feel a little bit sad about being a board member these days (which I'm coming here to vent about) include:

- My August 2011 Dream cruise, that on the day it was booked quickly skyrocketed in number of posts to rival this tread at it's heyday, has now resulted in three separate meet threads and a Facebook site (just on the DIS alone, not counting Passporter, CC or other board threads) because folks can't or won't even try to get along. We'd had a website set up from the very beginning, that has grown to include members from all 3 "factions", which is driving the person who set up the site nuts since some folks have chosen to speak negatively about another group, putting her in a difficult position that's inconsistent with a "vacation." Oh, and did I mention that we've never been able to rebook that cruise to get OBB benefits, and our 9A corner room, while quite spacious, has a cruddy little window and our kids sleeping on opposite sides of the room with no way to close them off from the rest of the room when they go to bed early, which will put quite a crimp in our cruising style. I'd switch to the 8/21 cruise, which I also have booked, except that our kids' godparents and family are going on the 8/16 cruise with us, and I'd feel guilty about abandoning them.

- I was really aggravated earlier tonight when someone posted something that seemed pretty neat, and someone else jumped into the thread and started bad mouthing and making negative implications against another board member, who wasn't even participating in the discussion (can you say way off topic??) I tried very hard to avoid saying anything, in an effort to keep the topic focused on the purpose, but finally chimed back in when the attacks spread to include others (again going way off from the original topic.)

- Then someone else got everyone all worked up about unreported "obstructions" on the Dream, and complained that I should have pointed them out on my special rooms thread, when I don't even think they qualify as obstructions since they are part of the main design of the ship, and existed on the Magic/Wonder without ever being considered as obstructions on those ships. Thankfully others have chimed into that thread making the same statement, but it's taken the fun out of helping folks quite a bit.

Anyway, for those reasons and others, I just can't quite get as engaged in the discussions like we did in preparation for this cruise, and I admit that I miss it.

On a positive note, I booked the 11/17/12 Thanksgiving cruise on the Fantasy this wednesday morning when Tracy notified me those dates had been released. Cost just a slight bit more than the August Western cruise I'd had booked, but we also upgraded to a 8A room so that accounted for much of the price difference, making it seem pretty reasonable for a holiday cruise.

I think we were exceptionally lucky on the 2010 WBTA. The new cruisers on the 2011 WBTA seem to be just as nice as well as the ones I have met thus far on the 2012 MV Fantasy.

I have seen some negative posting on other threads but thus far at least on the cruises DH and I have booked, knock wood, no trolls or otherwise negative postings.

We will miss you guys this year of the 2011 WBTA and MV of the Fantasy!!

Noel - we are still on the Fantasy MV cruise! So unless you switched, we're still planning on being there (besides, it's non-refundable.) I just need a good signature graphic to replace the 6/23/12 cruise that I still have booked, but don't plan to take unless something bad happens to keep us off the MV.

I know what you mean, though it sounds like you have got a lot of mean people on your next cruise meet thread. This group was fantastic, and a lot of fun all the time we were planning the trip. What a lot of laughs we had. I don't think there was one mean person on the thread. there might have been some who didn't like all the banter so didn't post much, but that is what makes all the difference in a group getting to know each other and actually 'gel' as much as it can with people who can't meet prior.

We had an amazing group on our 2008 PC cruise. The thread is still going and people go on vacation together still and get together. I cried when that cruise was over and actually I think I was quite depressed that it was over and all the fun and planning, and the actual cruise, was over. The following 3 cruises it was so hard to get into the threads and things were just not the same. Not that there was any meanness like you have, just that it wasn't the same. Then along came this cruise with all the lovely people. I don't have the answer to how it happens to be honest. I know that the Eastbound PC the same year as ours has some problems and a splinter group etc. People are funny hey?

I hope you manage to get to know some people on your next cruise, but even if you don't you will have a fantastic time.
