Sept 18 2010 WB TransAtlantic Pirates/Capt Jacks Re-Repoing Repossession Cruise Pt.10

Amy, we'll see you there. Hubby is getting tickets for us to see GLEE also. How are you doing?

Bev

Hi everyone!

Dave and I were just talking last night about how much we miss everyone from the cruise!

Guess who I'm going to see again?! The cast of Glee in Concert!!!! It's not until June, but I'm excited. They are coming to Philly so it's a bit closer than NYC.

I hope everyone is doing well...

:)

I think we were exceptionally lucky on the 2010 WBTA.
I agree.

Noel: As I read the news that President Obama was just in Woodside, I thought of you.

". . . He landed Thursday night, but only his arrival and his departure Friday morning from San Francisco were public events.

In between, he headed to a private dinner in Woodside, at the home of venture capitalist John Doerr. . ."

Yes, it was quite difficult for John to get home as he had to prove he lived in the area. Of course, we are not famous nor rich enough to be on the invite list.

Has anybody had any experience with the website ihire.com? I saw an ad for it on TV this afternoon and I was just wondering if anybody had ever heard/used it. Obviously, as you can tell, I'm still looking for a job.

I am so sorry to hear that! :(

To add insult to injury, I just found out that they hired somebody brand new for my old position. That was just adding salt into an already open wound. :sad1:

All I can do is shake my head at companies that do that kind of stuff:sad2:
Our prayers are with you too my dear!

I agree with Annie. I remember years ago when I left my job to accept another position, I found out they had to hire three persons to do the same job. Within a few weeks in my new position, my old employer offered me a huge raise to come back. Needless to say, I declined.

It seems to me to be so shortsighted that so many companies now days seem not to care about their employees. They do not appreciate the hard workers.

Just my thoughts..

Soooo true Noel!

Isnt it funny companies demand loyality from you and they wont return the same jesture???

I agree. I remember when my DH left his company in 1986 a few months after Samantha was born that the CEO tried everything to keep him to stay which he did not. Turns out the only reason was that the company was being sold and he was a "valuable" asset for the sale. Not that they would have kept him on after the sale, but who knows? He was considered an "asset" of the sale which cost the company money when he left.

It does hurt so much. Then yesterday when I was working at the Disney Store, I saw the CEO from the place I used to work - granted it was a small non-profit so I knew him and he knew me. I had to act like there was nothing wrong, like he hadn't sat across the table from me thanking me for my years of service but telling me that I was being laid off... Of course I acted like there was nothing wrong, but deep in my heart, it was aching.

Personally, I think it stinks!! The company that bought my husband's old company became wildly successful do to inventions my husband created. His old CEO did not believe in his product so he sold the company. My husband went on, started another company doing a similar type of product which also was very successful. It is not interesting how a bad decision can affect so many lives.

Oh My Goodness... it's so easy for companies to treat the employees so badly.. Ahhhhhhhh !
Employee + chair = asset Employee= asset :sad2:

Im glad John is doing great at his job now and not at the other place!:thumbsup2

I'm so sorry about all this. It just isn't fair that businesses can deal with people so badly(including the others who have answered too.) I hope that perfect job comes up really soon, but in the meantime enjoy your Disney benefits as much as you can.

Boy, do I understand that! I was once hired by a company to write a multi-million dollar proposal so the company President could use my name and resume. After writing the proposal, preparing the budget and schedule, and finding the right people to hire, I was told by the President that I was "too expensive" for the company and he laid me off. I found out shortly afterward that he had already found out they won the contract; he was only using my name and reputation with the customer to win the contract.

But I've had some pretty good bosses over the years, too.

You have had pretty much the same type of experiences I can see, Michael. John has a great job now and is very happy where he is working.

John and his two friends started a company not long after he left the other company but in time the investors installed a President who as is the case in many start ups made it his mission to get rid of the founders. Such is life, in the start up world.

What is funny, is that I am sure John's old boss kicks himself everyday for the decisions he made back in 1985. Had he just listened to John's ideas, his company would be the one world renown, not the other ones that spawned from John's original inventions.
