Welcome back, glad you had a nice weekend :cool1:

Love the summary :thumbsup2 I love men in kilts too

Thanks .... I think it goes back to seeing Mel Gibson in Braveheart when I was at a very impressionable age :rotfl2: On the last cruise I was lucky enough to be sitting with two kilt wearing Scotsmen at dinner.

Just reading my DK Sicily travel guide which arrived today for our June cruise. I was miffed when DCL understandably cancelled the stop at Tunis, as I really wanted to visit Carthage and had watched copious discovery channel programmes on it.

Good replacement choice DCL, Sicily looks amazing :thumbsup2:)

Guessing - Len & Angus? I LOVEd seeing them in their kilts on the Panama Canal Cruise!

Thanks ..L.. I think it goes back to seeing Mel Gibson in Braveheart when I was at a very impressionable age :rotfl2: On the last cruise I was lucky enough to be sitting with two kilt wearing Scotsmen at dinner.

Lol we got a photo on the last cruise of all the kilts together :lmao:

how much did you pay for it in the UK? i quite fancy one, but i dont want a new contract, would just get one outright if i do

oh and 75+/100+ pairs of shoes!!! holy moly! guess im not the typical girl, i own 2 pairs of timberland boots (one for work and one for rest of the time), and 2 pairs of flip flops. thats it. and i dont own a single handbag......

Definitrely need to get you some more shoes! :wizard:

oh and to share some good news, found out today that i got a promotion at work!

Cangratulations! :cheer2:

DH is chuckling reading these posts. He said we should now do a shoe swap on the cruise :rotfl:

He is like all the other guys, black shoes, brown shoes and trainers :lmao:

Mind you his kilt outfit weights 8kg in total so that takes up a lot of his allowance, but he gets to wear it for 3 evenings, so that's not so bad :thumbsup2

8kgs WOW! I didn't realize they were so heavy. I've actually never seen anyone in a kilt (except on TV of course).:upsidedow

Now that is just funny! Great minds think alike. I just made gingerbread cookies after lusting for some of the make-your-own-treats from Goofies at DTD (I always get the ggcookie). How many mickeys are still alive by now? :lmao:

Actually they are almost all still there, we took some tonight to some friends place and my two don't eat the ones with chocolate dipped ears, so I have left some plain for them. I'm trying to find my girlish figure so I'm trying to be good!

Me too, I am more of a sandal freak myself. Although I did buy 4 pairs of boots and 2 pairs of clogs this winter. Husbands don't need to know, do they?

Definitely not!:cool1:

8kgs WOW! I didn't realize they were so heavy. I've actually never seen anyone in a kilt (except on TV of course).:upsidedow:

Well the kilt will be out for formal and semi-formal evenings, so I'm sure you will bump into Stevie and see the real thing :rotfl2:

I didn't realise that it was so heavy either, until we bought the outfit for going on last year's WBTA. He had to end up wearing it home from Orlando to Scotland as his case was overweight :lmao: but it's not unusual to see Scotsmen wearing kilts whilst travelling as they do take up so much of your luggage allowance

I have Claire...I see you've posted the photos. I liked the new princess ones too:thumbsup2 Scroll down in this link Here

Great Susie, what dates have you booked?

I'm an apple convert, I love my Macbook and my iPhone. I am holding out though for the iPad2 to see if there is much difference. Fantastic prices for the iPads though.

Congratulations Karen:thumbsup2

hi, we have booked the 25th till the 28th sept then we go back to pop bit of a come down lol, susie

:surfweb: break time and catching up. I too luv the D&B bags. The only one I have is the white wristlet. I like shoes too but am very hard to fit so don't have many and comfort is number 1 in my book at this time of life.

Laundry--do it once every cruise. Our experience is it takes a long time to dry depending on the dryer:scared1: We hang a lot up in the bathroom if two cycles is not enough.

I think I have figured out my FE and my scrapbook embellishment exchange. :cool1:

Sarah--glad you had a good trip.

THE WEEK (OF DISBOARDS POSTS) IN REVIEW
(March 8-15) starting on page 164

Good News:
oh and to share some good news, found out today that i got a promotion at work!

Exiting Cruisers:

TonontoGirl - Tarin

New cruisers:
  • auntlynne - solo
  • goofprincess - We are Sandy and Tony from California SF Bay Area--celebrating 30th anniversary and DH birthday. See familiar names from PC cruise as well.
  • happyfeet - Sue
  • Jessica'sMom - Hi all....We've been booked on this sailing since the 2010 EBTA and are now coming out of the shadows. Actually, we (DH and I) recently cancelled our original on-board booking to take advantage of the verandah GTY deal. Using Cruise Compete, I booked through Cruiseadventuretravel.com and got the great GTY price along with $350 OBC, if anyone is still looking. Transferred my original booking to a Dream cruise next summer. We're thrilled that DD (age 26) will be traveling with us this time. We're in PA, she's in TX, so any time spent together is great.

Condolences

MandyGirl - Mandy's "aunt passed away from a brief but strong battle with a brain tumor we learned of at Christmas."

Noel - Can you add something in about dining. If people are interested in being in the same area as other DIS'ers to send me a PM with Lead Passanger name and booking Reference and Early or Late.

I got a response for Disney today that this is all they need to put us together. :-)

Thanks !

Dan

...I spotted something on there and would like to know more about it and if it will be repeated. The "Geezers /in Training" meets in the evenings - what does one have to do to qualify as a "geezer" or (I assume) a "geezer in training?" Is this in some way related to the Geezer and Git group mentioned in Marilyn's signature?

Dennis and I are avowed curmudgeons. Is that close enough? ;)

Geezers are over 60. GIT or Geezers in Training are under 60. Geezers received gold safety pins and GITS received silver safety pins.I brought the pins!!
Further clarified that 50 yo's can be GITS

Sarah - Do you you think it's worth adding the Pre Cruise meet at the Hard Rock to Noels welcome wagon?

Anyone interested in doing a ladies only Palo High Tea? I'm not sure how many we would need to do this but I guess the max is about 12-15? Anyone know for sure?

...Definitely .... I think if we meet up at about 6pm at the Hard Rock on Placa Catalunya, we can chat and have a drinky and then anyone who wants to eat we can book a table / tables for about 7:30 - 8:00. Does this sound about right....

Re: the dolphin excursion in Gibraltar:

I have enquired about accessibility and unfortunately the boat is not accessible for wheelchairs. There are 2 steps to get up onto the boat.

I'll volunteer my services for drinks tasting events. In for a penny so to speak...

If anyone is interested in Mojito, Mixology, Beer or Wine tasting drop me a PM saying which they're interested in doing. I will keep a list.

I think what was really fun about the private tastings is they were very different from the regular ones in that we were only DISers and they really took the time to explain what they were doing. The bartenders told us they were nervous about doing such large tastings and really prepared more than normal. We all got to know each other really well at the tastings!!

Some info on a good source for libations in Barcelona:
Here's the details from the beginning of the thread for your info.

El Corte Ingles, which is a department store located at the top of Las Ramblas. The wine department is on the lower level, in the grocery store. The selection is fabulous, and the prices incredible!

We didn't go in there the last few times, but we did go past it and you definitely won't miss where it is :) it's not far from where you are

Just googled it, link below:-

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&s....064941&sspn=11.540145,26.630859&ie=UTF8&z=18

4 minute walk.... sorted !!

Hi Deb. The Scrapbook exchange i'm organising isn't a get together to make pages, it's just a swap of papers/embellishments etc to use in your WBTA cruise scrapbook when you get home - kind of like the Fish Extender exchange of gifts. I hope that's ok with you? :flower3:

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party
I don't think MNSSHP dates will be released until Octobers hours are release at end of this month, so maybe early-mid April?

You can work out which dates the party will be on in September though. Here is a link to September park hours: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/hours...sttimeout=1000

On the days when MK shuts at 7pm - that will be when MNSSHP is. Although that is not 100% guaranteed, it is unlikely to change.

I may have misread this information but from what I'm understanding....they are not having MNSSHP on the 24th or 25th of Sept.????? Have they released the dates yet? We've booked 2 nights at Boardwalk in the hopes that we'd be able to go.

I don't think the dates have been released yet officially, but we are basing our assumptions on the Park hours which suggest that MNSSHP would be held when the MK closes at 7pm and there is no Wishes.

Morrison's grocery: The Gibraltar National day celebrations are always held on the 10th of September regardless of the day. As this year it falls on a weekend, the 12th has been named the bank holiday.

Unless the government announces otherwise we will close on the 10th but open on the 12th with reduced opening hours - probably 9-7. However the hours are yet to be confirmed.

Auntlynne,
Thank you, thank you! :worship:
Really appreciate your putting that summary all together! :thumbsup2

This may have already been covered and if so I apologize. I have been off the board for a couple of days and have not had time to catch up. A friend, the retired Deputy Inspector for the Gib police, told me that our day in Gibb may be hit and miss. He said many stores will be closed but many will be open. He did remind me to tell everyone to show your ship ID card as most retail shops will extend their discount.

Hope everyone is well. Looking forward to the cruise and to meeting you all.

Claire- Thanks so much for posting that pic of the 40th anniversary bags! I love the messenger bag and must have one now! My DH thanks you for showing me the pic :rotfl2:

Lynne- thanks so much for the recap. that's awesome :goodvibes

Sarah- Welcome back :goodvibes

Hi everyone .. sorry I have been a bit AWOL lately but I went on a big adventure to London at the weekend with my Mum and my 2 DDs to see "Love Never Dies" which was totally amazing. We spent 2 days there and since I get back I have been busy with work. I have been reading all about shoes and bags and washing and FE gifts and kilts and it is all very exciting.

So to summarise my thoughts on the above .... I love shoes, particularly sandals and wedges. Not so big on bags but I am coveting all of those D & B Disney bags, I always do one load of washing mid cruise to save on weight, I haven't started my FE gifts yet or even decided what to make, and I love men in kilts !!! Now did I miss anything else ?????

Good summary Sarah. You got all the important bits.......Bags & Shoes. :lmao:

Glad you had a lovely time in London. :)
