To combat the two weeks of wonderfully decadent food we will be eating, I realize I will have to keep up my routine of working out and walking (or I'll NEVER be able to get into my clothes the second week of the cruise, much less put a bathing suit on! :scared1:) I wondered if anyone would be interested in working out/walking with me? It's much more enjoyable if you have someone to talk with.....makes the time go by faster! :yay:

DH runs but I can't keep up his pace! I usually walk/run but probably will just walk fast while on the cruise (the ole' knees ain't what they use to be!!!! lol) Just let me know if anyone is interested. Have a magical day! pixiedust:

I'm with you in spirit!!!;)

Marilyn......if I can't find a walking partner.....do you mind if I chat with your "spirit" to keep myself entertained???!!! :goodvibes

Of course!!!! You know, on the WBTA last year, and also on this year's Panama Canal cruise, the Spa did a 'walk a mile' every morning. I think it was about 9am or so. Meant you could at least walk with others and i think all abilities were there.

oh and even more good news (and much needed news!) - i cancelled my original TA booking a couple of weeks ago to take advantage of the UK resident offer, but never got round to rebooking. so technically, for the past two weeks, i havent been cruising at all! but just booked, got one of the sideways cat 11s on deck 6 forward :)

You'll be near us then ... 6003 in a sideways cabin !!!! :woohoo:

Well, that's good to know. I'll need to check into that! Thanks for the tip!!:worship:

I'm in for walking! Not a runner...need to lose about 80 pounds to do that and keep my knees...but I'm in for walking! Not sure if I can keep your pace, but I'm game to try!

I'm going to need to do something, too. I was thinking of using the gym to keep up with the upper-body weight work I'm doing. Walking would be good, too, for cardio. Actually, the weather is getting very nice here, so I should start walking to vary my workouts a bit.

And speaking of varying workouts and making them fun, I just bought - get this - a pink punching bag! I was doing Zumba on my Wii for a while, but I really like doing cardio boxing (also on Wii). Someone on another Disney board (where we have a weight loss/workout support group) tipped me off to this, and I just had to have it!! I'm waiting for it to come in - any day now. It would be great if they have a punching bag in the gym on the ship, but I'm not counting on it.

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to decide on hotels for Andrew and I. I found the Hotel Continental Palacete and it looks to be pretty good...it's in the Eixample district on the Rambla de Catalunya. We found a decent rate and the 24 hour availability of snacks sounds good because 1) I know how screwed up my clock gets traveling to Europe; and 2) I have a growing 13 year old boy who is hungry all the time! Anyone with any experience or knowledge of this hotel and it's location?

I think we've decided to check 3 bags (which means I'm buying one), but with the FE and SM and scrapbook exchanges, I know I'll never get it all in. We are definitely planning to do laundry on board....did it on our last cruise and it worked great!

We are both getting very excited for the cruise and our time in Barcelona. I think this will be a wonderful educational opportunity for Andrew and I both!

Karen

P.S., count me in on the shoe and bag intervention! Luckily my DH won't be along and DS knows to keep his mouth shut if he wants more pins!

We were originally booked there but switched to the Hotel Paral-lel when we added a 3rd person. We can get a triple for even a lower rate, although it doesn't include food. Some reviews I read said the photos of the food at Continental looked better than the reality, but that's not why we switched.

No punching bag that I saw. Lots of treadmills and elipticals, but not the recumbant crosstrainer I use at my gym. Always do water exercises and I'm in for a walk, too. Might try to do the 'walk-a-mile' this time.

I love watching the Biggest Loser and this year they have a couple of new trainers. One of them is a female boxer. After watching the show, I think I could really get into using a punching bag. I belong to the YMCA and they don't have punching bags there. Would love to train with someone to get full use of the bag. I do kickboxing but no upperbody work-out in it like using a punching bag!:thumbsup2

Let me know how you like yours. Is it on a stand?

I remember they also did Aqua aerobics on the Panama Canal cruise, so perhaps they will do that on this one.

Apparently the view is fantastic from the front of the gym. John saw dolphins from there swimming along with the ship at the front.

Now that would be a sight to behold! I know when we go to Harbor Town at Hilton Head, SC.....we love going out to the pier. Usually there are couple of dolphins in the water just swimming around. They are just beautiful!

Debra, I'm in! Walking only, no running for this chick. ;)

I hope so .... I would love that !! I also aim to use the gym a bit more. Once did not really cut it on the last WBTA :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I started with good intentions but gave up by Madeira on that choppy day when it was very hard to keep your balance on the treadmill and I hurt my knee. Then the seas were calm and I couldn't power walk any more :sad2: aqua aerobics would be fun

No running for me either and DH walks way too fast for me. I'll give it a shot. Last cruise never made into the gym and don't know why. The view is beautiful:thumbsup2

GA-ya ya......DH born and raised in Atlanta and his family lives in Alpharetta. I havent been back since my MIL passed in 1991 but I remember it being beautiful......all the trees. You know in CA we think we have trees:scared1:
