Photos Onboard Question:

This concerns those nice white background professional photos taken on the ship: is there an extra fee or are they just considered another 8x10 photo (requiring 2 credits or $19.95)?

Do you just walk up and get in line when they are working or do you make an appointment?

Hope everyone is ok! Sounds scary.

On a positive note I've eventually finished my FE for the Candy Swap, it's taken me ages to do. As promised I would post a photo of it.

Wow, this is great :thumbsup2 I wish I was that creative, Michelle. And thank you for chasing DCL about the tastings :worship:

yes I know that feeling, just because my first sort was 21 dresses without anything esle!! but I want to take them and I know I can't. We are doing FE because this is our first Disney cruise, but I know what you mean about the weight..... my big problem is indecision
:scared1::scared1:

I know what you mean...it's deciding what to put into the suitcase that is the hardest part :scared1:

With all this talk of packing .... I decided to start at lunchtime.

I've got my prioritories right, the champagne, baileys and cassis are in the case :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
:rotfl::rotfl:

Does anyone else's dog get really upset when the suitcases come out? That's one reason we wait until the week before to pack.

Our previous cat used to run and hide when she saw the suitcases come put. She knew they meant a trip to the vet for boarding was in her future....and boy, she knew how to hide! Our current cat though sees a case and just tries to climb in!

I have been trying to sort out my cruise dinner dresses .....

It's very hard trying to decide which ones are coming and which are not ... so far I am definitely decided on one formal, one semi formal, Palo dinner dress, Villains / second formal (depending on whether I can find another formal or villains dress in time), 3 other short evening dresses and one maxi for evenings. I think that makes 7 dresses. I will double up the maxi and the 3 short evening dresses and may wear the Palo dress again, so that makes 12 evenings covered in total. I also have another maxi I could bring. It is so complicated !! And then I have jewellery and shoes to sort out to go with each dress :scared1::scared1::scared1:

And I haven't even started on the day time clothing :rotfl2:

Can you pay for someone to do this for you .... like a personal shopper, only a personal packer. Help !!!!!!!

I share your pain :scared1: :scared1: On the personal packer front, I came across a video on YouTube the other week giving instructions on how butlers should pack one's suitcase! :)

BTW, glad to hear you had a good time at the reunion!

We had one done with a white background on our last cruise and we were really pleased with it; one of the best photos we've had done by a professional photographer. No appt needed; just join the line up. I think they advertise the times of the sessions in the Navigator if you want to make sure you don't miss the opportunity to get this done. We had bought a package of set # of prints and this one just counted as one of the photos in that package. We will definitely be having our picture taken with a white background again this time.

I got mine yesterday. My doctor actually kind of tried to talk me out of it, said it was too soon in the season and I would need to get another one, but I'll be flying for several hours and it just makes me feel better to know I got one. I'm going to try and take the boys this weekend to get one too.

Noel, I am pretty sure that the Post Office at the incorrect zip code will just make the correction and send it on.

I am looking for opinions on this: I work in a very public place, so I always get a flu shot in the fall. It seems a bit early, but my local Walgreen's has a big sign announcing that "FLU SHOTS ARE AVAILABLE NOW!" Since we'll be flying in germ-ridden airplanes and stopping in germ-ridden airports, I am wondering if it might be smart to get the shot before I go. What do you think? Better early?

Thanks for any advice,
Karen

Toward the end of Thread Five, someone mentioned a 9/11 get together to remember those who passed, their families, co-workers and the countless rescue workers, etc.

I have not recently heard anything about it and wondered if anything had been planed. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

We are still planning to get together; the 8:46am NYC time (when the first tower was hit) is 2:46 pm between Barcelona and Gibraltar (they are the same time zone).

I have been trying to sort out my cruise dinner dresses ..... they all fit bar one, which was an unrealistic size anyway when I bought it so I am not too worried - it can go on Ebay sometime soon.

I'm with you Sarah, I've been trying to sort through mine too and will probably be doubling up on Villains/Semi-formal, but accessorising differently and then wearing my Palo brunch dress again. I usually stick in some linen trousers and take a couple of nice tops to wear with them. I know you will be "dressed up" on pirate night, so I'll probably wear my linen trousers that night rather than wearing a dress.

I agree with you and Pat, we love the opportunity to get dressed up and make the most of it on the cruise.

:rotfl2::rotfl2: neither would my DH, lol it's just amazing the number of things in my wardrobe that have been there for ages if you know what I mean !!!!

margaret

It must be his military training, DH doesn't miss a thing he is soooo observant, he knows exactly what I have in my wardrobe, no matter how old. I don't get away with it :rotfl2::rotfl2:

[I AM JUST BANANAS TODAY!!
[/COLOR]

That's ridiculous, they didn't only make one mistake, it was a catalogue of errors, what a nightmare. pixiedust: they will be re-directed or re-shipped soon so you don't get too stressed Noel :)

He is so handsome :lovestruc

I'm getting excited now, this time in 2 weeks we will be packed and ready to go and will be making the first leg of our journey to Edinburgh, catching the flight to London later on this evening :woohoo::woohoo:

[I AM JUST BANANAS TODAY!!

Well, it seems the company who I purchased the lanyards and badge holders shipped them to the wrong zip code. I specified UPS and they shipped USPS! Next instead of my zip code of 94062, they shipped to 49062 which is not Woodside, California but Kendall, Michigan.

Good grief!! Not only did they not ship it for signature only or insure it, they JUST SHIPPED IT!!!

Stay tuned!!

How damn annoying and frustrating .... why are businesses so inefficient sometimes  I am sure that whoever is on the recieving end of the package will realise it is a mistake and return them.

Been lurking in a couple of other DCL threads - looks like Castaway Cay sustained an almost direct hit from the hurricane. Hope that they'll have it cleaned up by the time we visit!

Oh no ... I hope everyone who lives and works there was ok, and hope not too much damage was sustained on our beautiful island. :sad1:

my plan for gibraltar was just to get off the ship and go to morrisons, then get back on (we stopped there last year so not bothered about seeing the sights again)
my parents owned a house in spain for the past 6 years, and spain have some good supermarkets. just found a mercadona supermarket thats only a 20 min walk from the dock (into spain), now thinking of taking a walk there in the morning, maybe stop for some lunch in a spanish cafe, then hitting morrisons on the way back.....
its sounding like a good way to spend the day, might even manage some paella in there somewhere......

Sounds like a plan .... I think we plan to hit Morissons in the morning and get the shopping out of the way, then have an early lunch and then hopefully get up the cable car to take in the views and walk back down. If we get time before we sail we may try and find Pussers Outpost for a FAB.

I have never had a flu jab but I imagine if you regularly have one and don't have any side effects then it may be a good idea. I have just started taking echinacea, zinc and efferevescent vit C in preparation for the trip.

Okay, so I was trying on a dress I bought on ebay, and it has a side zip, which I couldn't seem to get to the top. So I asked Dennis to zip it for me and... he caught my skin in the zipper. :scared1: Owww! He apologized profusely and raved over the dress (it did look pretty good), and I said, "Okay, unzip me," and... he did it again, only lower! The poor guy felt sooo bad, and I had to explain to him that there were assorted fat rolls on me and he needed to zip and unzip slooowwwly! :rotfl2:

OUCH :scared1: I know this feeling !!

I think as long as you aren't dripping from the pool or wearing a saggy, armpit-showing tank-type undershirt (fellas, this is for YOU) to dinner my appetite will remain healthy. Have sat next to both these options on various cruise dinners, and it wasn't pleasant :scared1:

ewwwwww ... sweaty armpits at dinner ... not a good look :scared1:

I would just like to wish a very safe weekend to everyone else on the East Coast who is in the potential path of Irene. Looks like its going to be bad... Not looking forward to sunday. RI hasn't had a bad hurricane in a long while. I'll be surprised if we don't lose power.

Yes ..... hoping that everyone out there affected stays safe and that damage is minimal. I am really anxious about it with my daughter being out there in Florida, but I imagine being with Disney they will make sure the
employees stay safe. Doesn't stop me worrying though :scared1:

You just get in line and they are the same prices as the regular photos. We had a lovely one done last time. They also do photos with a black background which come out very well.

I thought I would keep a list of all the birthdays on board. If you are on this list send me a PM with you room numbers if you have them. I thought it would be nice to know so we can wish people a Happy Birthday when we see them.

Thanks Lorraine :goodvibes

Fingers crossed I hear something today about the tastings. I know Claire got another email after we both received one but I didn't - :wizard:

Dogs - I don't think mine care less if we go away or not! The girls spoil them rotten when we're not here anyway. So they're probably doing the doggy version of this :dance3: when they see the cases

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: and most of those items at the back of the wardrobe that have been there for simply ages were bought mega mega cheap in a sale and were such bargains that you just couldn't leave them there ;);)

John thinks it is just me and for goodness sake I do it a lot less than others I know!:rotfl2: He doesn't realise how lucky he is.;)

I'm not surprised you are bananas!! I hope your mind settled so you could sleep. That is the kind of thing that niggles me at night and keeps me awake. I am sure it will be sorted though it might be a tight squeeze.

Ok, looks like we really don't have any more info on the Mickey Mouse club event other than it will be on Sept 19th (at least that I can see :confused3). I'll just wait and see what is planned before I buy anything.

I think the event is we all just wear the shirt to dinner. :-):rotfl2:

That's all that happened last year, it wasn't an event as such, just a themed night. Lots of people just wore their Mickey Mouse t-shirts and ears to dinner that evening :thumbsup2
