Found them on the FB group, but they still don't appear on a general FB search. Very odd.

How many Sue Powell's are there on FB? I see why you can't find her. The photo I posted is the one from our group - which would also be her avatar on her FB page.

well i'm back at home, in the past 48 hours i've spent about 17 hours in my car. got a really numb bum :rotfl:
back at work tomorrow then off back to scotland on thursday

a sincere thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the amazingly kind messages of support, they've been of great help to me and gary. he's still up in scotland, and i think its going to be a very hard week for him, he just wants friday to be here and over with now. think once the funeral is over it'll be some closure for him.

Just to make me feel better(I hope;)), have a search for her. Just pop her name in the space at the top of your home page.

Sounds like a long week for you Karen. It does seem that the healing starts to take place once the funeral is over, and you will also have the joy of cruising to help you along. I don't mean to sound callous, but it really is a blessing for him to have passed now rather than when you are at sea.

I am so sorry that you cannot stay in Glasgow with Gary.
I know what he is going through, and yes after the funeral you can closure a period.
And also the fact that he now can have a good goodbey and that it not happened during the cruise. It was the same for me. I didn't know what I had to do if my father passed away during the cruise.

QUOTE=GatorMomInNC;42242923]What is the character breakfast? I mean, I assume a lot of the characters come around to your table at breakfast, but do you have to sign up for it, or does it just happen when you show up for breakfast? And is it any dining room - not sure if you have assigned dining rooms for breakfast or just one since many people probably go to the buffet.[/QUOTE]

Character breakfast will be in Parrot Cay, and it is a plated meal with a set time for you to show up, just like at dinner. You do not need to sign up for it. There are two seatings, just like at dinner. You do not have a lot of time with the characters - definitely have your cameras ready and your kids camera ready. They are rushing.

PC is normally open for a buffet breakfast on a 'walk in' basis, but not on the days with character breakfast.

I didn't know what I had to do if my father passed away during the cruise.

My friend's father passed while they were on the 7 day Eastern. They opted to fly home from St. Thomas. She said Disney was a big help to them making travel arrangements.

I know what you mean, I'm just so glad gary managed to make it up to glasgow in time before his dad died. He passed five hours after gary got there. I honestly don't know how gary would have taken it if he hadn't have been there when it happened, let alone half way across the world.

Having made it in time will make so much difference to Gary.

The cat should be fine as long as it has access to shade and water as long as it hasn't been declawed.

Congrats on your new cat :rotfl: He should be fine outside. We had cats and a doggy door so they spent most of their time outside during nice months but we would see they spent a lot of time inside on cold winter nights. As long as he has access to food, water and shade. If you truly are going to adopt the cat it would be nice if you got him fixed and took him to the vet for some vaccines. Nice thing about cats are that they're pretty self sufficient.

Agreed. We know lots of people who have barn cats - they live in the barns and help with the rodent population (field mice). Though we also have coyotes too who sometimes get the cats. Yes, please make sure it has claws to defend itself and can climb a tree if needed, and the other responsible thing to do is have it checked out to make sure it has had its rabies vaccines up to date and it is spayed or neutered. Otherwise, your one cat can become many cats.

Our cat we had in England refused to come into the house after the birth of our DD, and lived happily outside for many years with us putting out food and water for her, and taking her to the vet for her regular check ups.

Thanks for all of the advice. We will definitely make sure she gets vaccinated and checked out by our vet. :thumbsup2

How can you tell if a cat is declawed or not? I am really a dog person so I'm pretty clueless about these things.

Joe suggested possibly putting in a cat door into a side utility room so the cat would have shelter (we already have a dog door into the main part of the house.)

 big hugs Karen. Hang in there this week. :flower3:

He/She should have their back claws - vets only declaw on the front.

Take their paw in your hand with your thumb on top of their paw and your middle and forefingers on their foot pads and push down with your thumb lightly on their toes. The claws will show themselves if they have them.

Cats need their front claws to fight if they are outdoor kitties - if they are declawed they should only be indoors because they can not defend themselves adequately outside.

Hi Josh, you made a great FE.
Here is mine, not so big and great. It went a little bit brown from the ironing, but it is done. I have a giftbag to hang with it, because it looks big but it is small. (the bags are 10x10 cm)
I am nearly finished with my FE gifts. Just sorted out and decided how and when I give them.

What a cute FE Liesbeth. :thumbsup2

Last year, EBTA, we put in a request for space to play BUNCO. Got word from Dorothy, stateside, that she had contacted the ship, but she was never able to confirm anything for us. Even on board, I got the push-off and eventually were given a date near the end of 2 weeks. And then someone else was assigned to use the same space. We realized we should have just picked an empty time/space from the next day's Navigator.

I think this might be what we need to do, Claire. Have agreed-upon dates for 1st, 2nd, 3rd choice. Look at the Navigator to find when your venue is unused and then notify everyone with a postcard that gets stuck in the fish. And post it on your door. We will be responsible for keeping an eye out for the news. (Unless, of course, you get that miracle of advanced planning from DCL).

I hope it doesn't come to that option as I really don't think that will work. :sad2:

If we go with a DCL champagne tasting event then they will charge $20 per person regardless whether they show up or not, no one is going to sign up to that without knowing the date & time to check it doesn't clash with other things they have arranged such as High Tea, pub crawl etc. I will leave it a while longer & will send a few more emails & call a few times, then as we get nearer if it's not sorted in a reasonable time scale then we will just go with option B and bring our own bottle etc.

Love the FE what a great job!!!! :thumbsup2

That is a good thing. Dennis wasn't able to be there when his father passed. He still feels bad about that. The family didn't really clue him in as to how far gone his father was, so it was a bit of a shock when he got the call. He knew his father was close to the end, just not that close. We live 700 miles away, too, so it wasn't like he could just pop in to see how it was going.

I hope you both get some rest. This isn't going to be an easy week for you.

With all the "cooperation" you're getting from them, we might be better off just going with Plan B. Maybe we can just commandeer the Promenade Lounge or the back of Deck 7 if the weather is nice.

Nice work on the FE's Josh and liesbeth!

I'm celebrating my 40th on September 17th

:cheer2::cheer2: congratulations

Karen it will be such a comfort to Gary that he made it to see his dad before he died. The days till the funeral will go by in a painful daze, but after that you may be able to start to remember happier times. Be strong for each other and family, having lost both my parents to cancer your emotions can be at odds with each other, either relief or absolute grief, which I feel can be very difficult. It is sad you are both apart at this time , but I'm sure you will be ok, and the cruise will give you and gary the time you will need together. Both of you take care, I will be thinking of you

Such a blessing that Gary was able to get up there before his father passed away. I'm sure his mind is at rest just knowing he got to see his dad one more time. I know you are exhausted from such a long trip in such a short time. You & your husband are in our thoughts!

Went to Macy's and JC Penny today to shop for formal night... Spent 50 dollars on a tux kit (shirt, bow tie, cummerbund), Silver suit coat and purple shirt. Feeling like James Bond (or Michael Scarn; Threat Level Midnight for my US office fans) in my first bow tie :woohoo: I hate shopping, but I love the feeling of victory after getting a deal and looking good.

This sounds like a recipe for getting scratched!! I guess I will have to do it though & hope that she has claws b/c keeping her inside just isn't a viable option for us.

I'm sure you will be more James Bond than Michael Scarn :rotfl:

I echo what some of you are feeling. My mom will be 100 in Nov. and I am concerned that something might happen while we are at sea - the other places I can get home from. My sisters and daughters tell me life is for the living and to go cruise and enjoy it, so I will hope and pray we get to have her 100th birthday celebration with her in Nov.

I am also glad that Gary got to spend time with his dad before his passing.
OMG - the three of us caballeros will leave 3 weeks from this Wednesday!!!!:cool1::banana:

Our cats allow this no problem - if you can get him/her to sit on your lap and pet them it won't be a problem. (Or shouldn't be). :lmao:
