Just want to be sure I am looking in the right place...it is the main Planning Center Dashboard on the DCL web site that you log into your reservation from, yes?

We still are showing "Verandah Stateroom with Restrictions Category VGT, #GTY"

So nothing. Also those of you getting cabins, did you book directly with DCL? I am thinking maybe you get yours first before those of us that booked with a TA?

Oh well, just need to be patient I guess.

...Question for those who have been to Park Guell, how do you get there, is it taxi only or is there some form of public transport? I would like to go there this time, but having trouble finding more about how to get there in the guides....

I didn't go there last year; however, yesterday I was checking out barcelona tourist guide online and copied this info:

"If you're visiting the park by metro be prepared for at least a 20 minutes walk. The last 200 m walk is up a steep hill. If you have difficulties going up steep steps then a taxi or bus may be a better means of transport. You'll find bus information at the tourist information office at Placa de Catalunya."

Somewhere they listed "Bus 24 from Placa de Catalunya, which will drop you right outside the main entrance."

What I find interesting is that the T10 ticket can be used simultaneously by multiple people - so you can get a discount for everyone in the family without having to buy multiple tickets at one time. (Bus, subway, airport train).

What many of you should realise and fully understand before the cruise is that food on a DCL cruise contain absolutely no calories whatsoever.:thumbsup2;)

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Congrats to those with room assignments/upgrades :goodvibes

For those people who have already been to Barcelona could you tell me what your favorite attractions were. We are trying to plan out what to see, and do. Just checked and it will cost us U$35 just to see Sagrada Familia, is that worth it? That's alot of money to see a church  We are also planning a day trip to Montserrat and any tips would be appreciated :flower3:

I would definitely visit the Sagrada Familia and the Gaudi buildings as the architecture is breath-taking. We were limited on time so we just saw them from the outside. Also if you can find time for a wander around the Gothic Quarter as that definitely captures the atmosphere of the city ... Barcelona Cathedral is also stunning.

This year we are only there for one afternoon and I hope to get to Parc Guell in the afternoon and then wander the Gothic Quarter in the evening after the Hard Rock Cafe get-together.

Hi all

I haven't been on for a few days. So i'll need to catch up when I get home now. Thank goodness for Lynne's fabulous weekly catchups :thumbsup2

I'm glad to see that everyone is getting the assignments and there has been some pixie dust. I have just checked ours and it's still the same, but I wasn't expecting an upgrade with a cabin number already assigned :)

We are all so mega excited, we are just getting all packed up here at the Beach Club getting ready for boarding the Dream tomorrow afternoon

We've just been over at the AKL visting our friends who are staying in the DVC rooms in the Jambo House and they are in a concierge DVC room. It is absolutely amazing, I didn't realise how great the DVC concierge was. I am definitely checking out the points for that when I get home. My friends have hardly had to feed their 3 teenagers due to the quality and quantity of the food and beveridges available :)

Off to finish packing, the washer is going like mad at the minute, I am determined not to have to do any laundry on the cruise and join the mad scrum.... it's only 5 nights so hopefully we'll manage since everything from WDW is going across clean :)

I cannot believe we are down to just over a month now till the WBTA, we'll be there before we know it !!!

Hi Mary

Have a magical time on the Dream :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Or, its just a short trip up the stairs to join them, lol!!

That would be your best option :thumbsup2

Now, it's back to crocheting for me - and figuring out what to get for my Secret Mickey, and getting my traveling magnet finished, and ordering my candy for the candy swap, and making my mask for Villian's night, and buying euros and pounds, and..., and..., and... OMD! We leave in 36 days!! :scared1:

I am too scared to write out a list of what I still have to do before the cruise ... but I had certainly better get a wriggle on. It will be upon us before we know it :scared1::scared1:

Congratulations to all that have been upgraded and fingers crossed for those who have not heard yet.

Mary - have a fab time on the cruise :)

Good morning cruisers. :)

Congrats to all those that finally have their cabin numbers. :dance3: Fingers crossed for everyone else still waiting, hopefully you will get them today. :wizard:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Does that have something to do with pixie dust then? maybe if I run fast enough the calories won't be able to catch me :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: :rotfl:isn't it a shame you can't believe everything you read.... but A+ for effort

There are many answers already I saw.
But I found the Sagrade very impressive. I didn't know how much we payed for it, but is was about 10 years ago when I last saw it. We are going deffenitly see him now, to see how far it is.
You must see Parc Guell and Casa Mila both Gaudi.
And go up the Montjuich bij cable car. We walked down.

You can buy a ticket for the hop on-hop of bus. Then you came to all the interesting places. You can also go by metro, and by a 10T+ tickets. It's much cheaper, but you have to found out by yourself and more to walk.
You can also look at this site. It gives lot of information

Here also no assignment yet. We have also Verandah Stateroom with Restictions Category VGT, #GTY
We are the last one I think, because they can put us in any verandah that is free

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Days are really flying by now! I brought up the suitcase from the basement yesterday, and my sweater and fancy evening jacket. Someday this week, a test pack is on plan.

So glad some people's wait for cabin##s is over. Fingers crossed for the rest of you!

Happy Day, all!

We are flying on the 8th and landing on the 9th out of Atlanta.

Congrads on everyone with there upgrades and room assignments... Still hoping we can get a upgrade at the port, would love a veranda..however just glad to be on this trip

We're on the same flight I think! Have a great trip (that means that we will too)!

Good morning cruisers. :)

Congrats to all those that finally have their cabin numbers. :dance3: Fingers crossed for everyone else still waiting, hopefully you will get them today. :wizard:

Congrats to all who have their assignments - best wishes to those still waiting :cheer2:

Is it just me?????

Since the Calender moved into August, my pulse rate has started to increase.

The final arrangements for Fe's etc and tour updates makes it even more "real"-

This month is gonna fly! Won't be long before I get to say "Cead Mile Failte" to you all :yay::banana::goodvibes:dance3:

We were on a 5C GTY and when I checked last night have a 5B, we were deck 6 last time and have deck 7 this time so it'll be nice to see the magic from a different angle! Can't check to se if there's been any change today as the website 'declines to show the webpage' dunno what's happened there?

Oh, the site is working. I just don't think the DCL CM has reported to work and gotten to this very serious responsibility of assigning our rooms.

Amanda

We took a taxi and he waited while we visited. It helps if you get a taxi driver that speaks English. We spoke a combination of Spanish and English with him.

I didn't go there last year; however, yesterday I was checking out barcelona tourist guide online and copied this info:

"If you're visiting the park by metro be prepared for at least a 20 minutes walk. The last 200 m walk is up a steep hill. Somewhere I read that there are esclators where the steep hill portion is. I know they had them all over by the base of Montjuic to get to higher places as that area is also very steep.

We used the t-10 ticket with our family of 4. Cost was about half what you pay for 10 single tickets so its a great deal! We found the subways very easy to use. I would avoid them late at night.

If you walk, which you will probably do alot of in ports, those calories will be zero'ed out! :rotfl::rotfl: Wish I could run but the old knees won't let me!:goodvibes

I wish I knew how to post pictures here. I've got some great ones from Barcelona both last year and this year on facebook. We bought a small mosaic cat figurine - can't rember where but maybe it ws the Casa Mila gift shop (that one was very nice too). Poble Espanol in Montjuic had some very nice shops and in the Andalucia section, there were flamenco dancer figurines with the dresses done in the tiles. They were beautiful and very unique, though we couldn't fit another thing in our suitcase. We had done too much damage in Italy and France! ;)

I would say that he church is worth it. It is one of the most unique Church's I have seen to date. You should also get the combo ticket to climb up the tower, it is really neat. You take an elevator up and then climb down. When we cruised in May, we went there before getting on the cruise on a Sunday morning...we go there at 0900 and only had to wait in a short line for tickets. We spent about 2 hours there. The line got really really long right after we got our tickets and the tour buses started showing up, so I say go early!

It is easy to get to on the Metro as it has its own stop.

Question for those who have been to Park Guell, how do you get there, is it taxi only or is there some form of public transport? I would like to go there this time, but having trouble finding more about how to get there in the guides.

Thanks!

Amanda

We took the Hop On - Hop Off bus tour. It went by all the major places that we wanted to see and one of the them was Parc Guell. They give you a map and you know which stop to get off at. It's a little hike straight up a big hill but just take it easy. Parc Guell was beautiful! Great view of Barcelona and just wandering around was so nice. Definitely worth seeing. The buildings at the beginning of the park look like gingerbread houses....beautiful! :goodvibes

I did not book with DCL - I booked with a TA and got my cabin yesterday, altho I was booked in an 11C GTY (cheapest out there)and got assigned an 11A cabin.

I think you will get yours soon :)

We're on American Airlines flight 152 on Thursday night the 8th.
