I created a Facebook page for us; I didn't use the one for last year's EBTA. Don't know if it will be helpful or not - sometimes you can have too much media.

I made it a closed group so that personal information could be displayed. PM or email me (option under my user name on DIS) and I'll add you.

If we find we don't need it, that's fine, too.

Thanks Lynn for setting up a FB page! We had one last year for the Med. cruise we went on. Was nice to have. Great job!

Thanks Lynne, sent you a friends request :thumbsup2

:rotfl2: That's why i'm glad my DH doesn't come on here....although I am sure you will hear more than enough tales about me at dinner. :lmao:

Actually it only cost me £280 in airport taxes. ;) I used our VA miles that we have been collecting. :dance3: It was crazy prices for a one way flight so I figured we may as well use them sometime. :thumbsup2

But your right I really can spend for Britain. :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I am sure that I am going to have to gag DH as well at dinner, with similar tales to Lee's :rotfl2: they'll be comparing stories :lmao:

I just checked the VA website, only 50,000 for UC, I am sure we had enough - or at least I do to upgrade and leave Stevie in economy :rotfl: We got our seats for 17,000 in the sale :thumbsup2

I can only see the second one as I am one of the few that don't have a Facebook account.

Michelle, you should get one, FB is fantastic for keeping in touch with everyone without having to do much :thumbsup2

Thank you, Lynne!! :)

Hi auntlynne
I think I’ve sent a request to join the FB group, but I can’t be sure ( being a complete techno dummy). My facebook page was set up by my son !! and I even have difficulty using my mobile phone, so there’s no hope for me.

Hats off to everyone, you all seem so organised…… think I need a few lessons

Just been catching up with todays posts.....you guys are too fast!

I had some sad news this morning, my 64 year old Uncle died during the night. :sad1: So sad as he was found by his youngest daughter (15yo).
No one knows what happened, he hasn't been ill, he was fine yesterday. It is such a shock and so sudden. I really feel for my four cousins as their mother died several years ago of Breast Cancer and now their dad has been taken too.

:

My heart goes out to you and your family ...so sad...sorry to hear.:sad1:

:lmao: I am sure they will!!! We will have to threaten them that we will buy several expensive bottles of Champagne if they don't keep quiet! ;)

:rotfl: I am sure Stevie would love that.

Thank you.

Honestly Mary I don't like FB one bit.

I'll be billy no mates and stick to the chat on the forums.

FB keeps me in contact with so many people, some from different cruises I have done who don't post on the cruise meet threads any more. I love it, though worry about it sometimes.

FB drives me crazy sometimes so I don't blame you one bit. ;)

I created a page about a year ago b/c everyone was bugging me about posting our wedding photos, but honestly, I don't keep up with it that much. It did let me reconnect with some people I knew years ago, though, so that was nice.

I think it's funny when people have hundreds of "friends." I have about 20. I don't "friend" every person I've ever met, I don't "friend" my former students except for a couple who are in college now, and as for most of the people I know around in this town, I don't like them that much in real space, let alone in cyberspace! Same goes for most of the people I knew in high school. There's a good reason why I don't go to class reunions!

We had some problems with some of the students at my former school posting inappropriate things and contacting or being contacted by inappropriate people. I also attended a lecture at one of our district conferences by an expert on cyber-crime and online predators, which made me very wary of what I post of Fb.

On the other hand, I've found some interesting websites through it, so it does have it's uses.

Thanks, Lynne, for setting it up. I'll PM you to join.

As an aside on this, just because it's a closed group doesn't mean it can't be seen by others (learned that from the expert!), so we still might want to be careful about posting private info.

Lynne, Thank you :worship: for setting up the FB page! As Dgentrysim mentioned, we had a FB page for our Med cruise last year, and it was very helpful...we were able to set up specific "threads" in the Discussion area which helped keep everything organized.

So glad someone knows how to set these things up :thumbsup2 - I certainly don't. :rotfl2:

I like that aspect of too but that's all really. :)

We have family and close family friends all over the world, so it's so easy to see what everyone's up too and see their photos, I admit it's a pain sometimes, but the +++'s outweigh the ---'s I think :thumbsup2

Also mentioned the champagne to Stevie who nearly choked  best table manners or it will cost him a fortune lol

michelle, i used to hate it too but felt left out at work so i gave in:lmao:
now i find it fab that we can stay in touch and share photos with our family and friends all round the world, that sometimes you never got around to doing, facebook makes it so much easier:thumbsup2

:grouphug:you will always have friends on forums too, no-one is going to leave here:grouphug:

Thanks again everyone for making me feel so welcome, I can tell this is going to be a lively cruise :thumbsup2

Brookspayne (Burnice) is from Perth - perhaps you know her :rotfl2: :lmao:

I used to get that a lot when I first moved to the US, and it always made me chuckle :lmao: Some even told my husband that I spoke English very well  However, I grew up in Melbourne, which is kind of like someone in California knowing someone in Florida ;) It's a small world though and maybe I do know Burnice, we might have emigrated on the same ship, as that did land in Perth.

Welcome aboard!! Glad you found the rollcall, and bummer about your B2B. That was such a mess. Did anyone ever figure out what company chartered the ship that week?

I never heard, but I am really curious. We put off the WBTA last year, so we'd be able to do the B2B this year .. and we still don't get to do it. How does that saying go .. Never put off tomorrow what you can do today .. lesson learnt

Welcome Karen and Ed, only 164 days to go, we are certainly a mixed bunch. And did you have to mention clotted cream, I have a real fancy for a cream tea now..... it dosen't take much!!:) must admitt I'm a little worried about how I will cope with all that food on the cruise.
I wasn't the newbie to this forum for very long.....( noted you are a dis veteran) and yes another Karen! am still trying to get my head around how the forum works.
It's so exciting, not long now traveling with my husband Norman :)

Is this your first cruise? We did a lot of eating on our first cruise, we thought we had to choose food from each category on the menu, we spent a lot of time trying to sleep off our food induced comas. We were wiser on our following cruises and shared a lot of things we wanted to taste, and only ate until full ... well maybe a little past full, but not stuffed. popcorn::

I so agree in how you ate on your first cruise. Well, not how you ate obviously, just agree that is how it can be!! To be honest it also lasted through cruise number 4!!! Somehow because it is there and paid for you just have to have it!!!!

Lose some weight before you go and take a couple of stretchy items of clothing!!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Looking forward to the lively dinner conversations ..... no dodgy stories about me though as I am totally angelic :littleangel::littleangel:

Exactly why I use it too .... to keep in touch with family and friends and cruise buddies and ex colleagues from my cruise ship days all over the world and I store my photos on there just in case the hard drive packs up. It's just very easy to do :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

:rotfl2: Yeah ok, I believe you......I am sure we can ply Tony with enough alcohol to dish the dirt. ;)

Need some help here fellow Dis'ers. For all those days at sea.....I would like some recommendations of some good books to read. I love romance, mystery, thrillers......just about any type of book. :thumbsup2 I know there has got to be several avid readers out there who can help me out.

I'm sure I'll keep busy doing other things on the ship but I've got to have a good book for the flight over and any "FREE" time while on the cruise (of course......if there is any free time......eating is a good way to go!! :rotfl2::lmao:)
