Hope you get to feeling better. We actually have a very busy weekend. Tomorrow we are helping put on a children's Easter program at our church and then Sunday we'll have our Easter service and a big meal with the whole church. Monday we plan to sleep all day!! :yay:

Happy Easter everyone!

Sounds like our weekend; worked in the nursery last night during the Good Friday service; had five babies; two of which needed a lot of holding and comforting. It was fun lining up the three others for dinner. Brought back old memories feeding my twins.

Today we are going to the Giants-Braves game in SF. My DH is Atlanta born and raised and my future DIL grew up watching the Braves, so the family is split today. I have never been to the new park so am looking forward to the atmosphere and views of the San Francisco Bay.

Tomorrow we serve again in the first service nursery; then church with the family. We've been invited to Easter dinner at our son's future in-laws (out in the farmlands in central CA). Busy weekend but all good cuz its all about family :)

Happy Easter everyone.

Well rather than get on with some painting (the dreaded glossing :headache:) this weekend as we planned so far we have managed to totally avoid it. :lmao:

Yesterday we spent most of the day doing the gardening & today we spent what seemed like hours putting together a gazebo that we bought in the sales about two years ago & has sat in it's box ever since.....it looks fab though!!! I hope this lovely weather continues as I will be out there sunbathing every day. :cloud9:

I don't blame you Claire... You can get back to painting when the weather is not as nice. We need photos of said gazebo:)

Our lovely weather is no more, we are very overcast, with some showers. It's humid outside so wouldn't rule out thunder.

I have been wanting to get the car washed for a few days now but have to wait for DH to get the hose all set up and check to see if our Karcher is still working. We have not used it in ages. No chance now though.

Has anyone on this board done this cruise before? I was wondering if they do the fireworks shows on the WTBA? Also, is it just to cold/windy to use the pools for most of the cruise?

Sarah Eton mess is my absolute favourite - yum. I'm going out for dinner tonight and wohoo the place I'm going does a fabulous Eton mess

I am going to make a strawberry pavlova for easter sunday dinner tomorrow. The best thig about making a pavlova is if you make a mess of the meringue it becomes instant Eton Mess !!

The pirates fireworks were held in the Caribbean on the night we left St Maarten. The weather was beautiful all across the Atlantic and it was never too cold or windy to use the pools. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I defo need help..... maybe my jaws wired together. All those eggs will have to go tomorrow to remove temptation.... only trouble is it's me that will eat them:rotfl::rotfl:
Happy Easter everyone

If I had my jaws wired together I would puree desserts and suck them through a straw!!!:rotfl2:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: no hope for us both on a cruise then !!!

I am hopeless where desserts are concerned. I always look at the dessert menu first when in a restaurant. Unfortunately it is a separate one on the ships, but I do know I will always find something I will like. Well at least one!!!:rotfl2:

The unfortunate thing now is that I am not supposed to eat rich fatty things so it is going to be a big problem!:sad2:

We have a long weekend ahead of us ..... I have 3 days off work, but poor DH is working night shifts all over the weekend, and DD is working hard on her illustrations for her University end of year assessments, so I doubt we will be doing much at all. I plan to rest up and hopefully get rid of a horrible chest virus I have lingering around. I may take a few walks out if the weather stays nice. On Easter Sunday we will probably have a family meal with my Mum and then I have to pick up DS from the airport as he has been in Cyprus for the week with his GFs family.

Does anyone have any plans for the Easter weekend?

We are laying low - celebrating at home with a meal. I'm making enchiladas, so its not the traditional Easter meal, but I was dying to eat some Tex-Mex so there you go!

So will your bear be doing the WBTA too?? :)

Yes, the bear will most definitely be going on the WBTA. I think we have a picture of him w/ the Rock of Gibraltar around here somewhere....;)

hope everyone has a lovely relaxing weekend, not really looking forward to sunday though not sure how i will feel being 50, but as its my birthday i have a good excuse for eating everyones easter eggs lol, susie

Happy Birthday Susie! Enjoy your day :goodvibes

Oh I can't wait :lovestruc:love::lovestruc Pooh. I'm sooo very happy it's not CGI .. yay for old school animation.

:laughing: being sensitive about the shirt

We do the same thing with Noddy in his little car

Yes its kind of silly I guess, but I also guess we are silly people and I don't care! My family members get a real kick out of the photos we bring back.

The funniest thing is that when I take the photo I always find myself counting from three " okay, ready? one, two, three!" Then I realize that the bear is always smiling so he doesn't need a minute to get ready for the photo :rotfl:

Speaking of desserts .... as we often do ... DH and I shared this :

a sampler of Eton Mess, Vanilla Cheesecake with apple compote and vanilla icecream and pecan and chocolate torte

Sarah, that looks amazing! I saw Eton Mess made on tv once - the Barefoot Contessa - and I have been curious about it. That one looks really yummy.

Tonight I'll be making dessert for this evening & tomorrow. I'm doing an ice cream pie from Dorie Greenspan's Baking from My Home to Yours. Here is a link:

Never made it before, hope it turns out okay.

Happy Easter Everyone!!! :flower2::flower2::flower2:

I have indeed got some photos, i'll upload them in a minute. :thumbsup2

Well we were good & just spent over three hours painting the first coat of gloss......so only one more to go! :yay: Just finished & am sitting having a cuppa tea & some Maltesers. :rolleyes1

I need to wash & hoover my car too Michelle! In fact I need to do it soon as I want to trade my car in before my tax & mot run out.

We had some thunder earlier this evening but I don't think it's rained yet.

If I had my jaws wired together I would puree desserts and suck them through a straw!!!:rotfl2:

:lmao: I was going to say that too.....:thumbsup2

Here's the photo of the Gazebo we put together earlier.....it looks so lovely that i'm rather annoyed we left it sitting in a box for so long. :lmao:

And whilst i'm in Photobucket here are a couple of photos of my doggies playing on their favourite toy, an old rope tied to a tree with a hoop tied on the bottom.

Wow Lynne! That sounds like the perfect end to your trip. Have a wonderful time :goodvibes

Oh now I will have to go and watch the trailer too! We are big Winnie fans - I have a winnie bear from the early 1980's who comes along on our travels (as seen in below photo) Just don't mention his lack of red shirt, he is quite sensitive about that lol :lmao:

IMG_0791.jpg

My bear, Dimples, and my roommate's bear Yampa come on our cruises too.
Dimples wonders if Winnie would like her to bring him a new red shirt?

a sampler of Eton Mess, Vanilla Cheesecake with apple compote and vanilla icecream and pecan and chocolate torte .... reminded me of the Magic with the three small desserts. As you can see I have once again postponed the start of the diet until this bank holiday weekend is behind us. I know we have another one next weekend, but as of Tuesday I am going to try and be good 80% of the time until we go to Florida in 10 weeks !!!!

Had to google "Eton Mess" (this board is quite the cultural education :thumbsup2), but it all looks delicious!

Well I didn't know they had one of these in Gibraltar ..... may just have to take a detour and visit this place if it's anything like it's counterpart in Tortola:

The education continues......

:bday: Susie!!! Don't worry, fifty really is fabulous. You're just joining another club.....:cool1:.

Dennis and I are off to judge the cooking/baking contest at the "Reynolds Strawberry Festival" in Reynolds, GA (no, you've never heard of it) on Saturday. We've been judges for several contests in the area over the years, and well, let's just say it's always interesting. The toughest part is not making faces (good or bad). Most of it is pretty good. But I have to say, there was one time that I tried an item and thought, "I've just eaten sawdust."

We're going to Mass in Atlanta (about 1.5 hours from here) on Sunday. Dennis is Byzantine Catholic and the that's the closest BC church to us. Then we're going to Easter Brunch. (I'll go to church, but there has to be either a meal or a trip to Ikea in it for me. Told you, I'm a heathen.) So we'll be kissing the diet goodbye for the weekend!

I've always wanted to be a food contest judge. Especially the Pillsbury bake-off or a bbq challenge. Hmmmmmmmmm. Food is definitely way too important to me :headache:. I've never understood people who can just eat plain lettuce and be satisfied  (as I reach for a can of pistachios).

I went to Michael's today and picked up FE gift supplies. Also got a pack of self-laminating plastic sheets for magnet-making at Sam's Club (25 for $16.68)...pricey but still much cheaper than Michael's and AC Moore. Forgot to check the office supply stores. Still stumped on SM; one gift or several less expensive ones? Can't make up my mind.

HAPPY EASTER :flower3: to all celebrating. Enjoy every little egg. ;)

:scared1::scared1::scared1:After watching the news, I hope I never have the misfortune to leave a ship by medical evacuation. That poor woman dropped into icy seas during a medical evac and they couldn’t rescue her for eight minutes. I just hope she survives; she’s now in intensive care :sad2::sad2::sad2:

The poor lady that was dropped in the sea when she was being evacuated didn't make it.....she died today. RIP. :littleangel:

Her poor family will never be able to enjoy the ocean, cruising, Easter or Spring the same way ever again. So, so sad.

Pinky, love your gazebo and your puppies :goodvibes. I had to google (again!) to figure out what "Maltesers" are. DH loves malted milk balls in general, so I think he'd like these too. We picked up quite a nice selection of English candy in Gib last year to bring home for DD; somehow, only a few bars made it to her... :rolleyes1

It is so sad for her poor family, especially her husband who watched her fall into the water. :guilty:

Thanks....they are my fur babies. :lovestruc

Maltesers are yummy!!!! Your DH will definately like them. ::yes:: You will probably be able to get them in Morrisons. :thumbsup2
