I just made my ADR for our upcoming Jan. trip. We are a party of 8. Four adults and 4 children. They informed me that the gratuity will automatically be added. I don't have a problem with that. However, because we are 2 separate families, I was wondering if they will be able to give us 2 separate checks?

The only time I have had issues not getting separate checks is when using one DDE card.
You should be fine, unless that is what you are doing.

I've never had a problem splitting the check (tell them when they take your order). I have also had the added gratuity go both ways in those situations. Sometimes they add when you split the checks and sometimes they don't. And I have even had them honor the DDE for all in those situations. I think maybe only once or twice they said they couldn't so it doesn't hurt to ask. :)

I will go pull my receipts from my recent trip because we were a party of 9 and one group had DDP and the other had DDE. I will let you know what my receipt says. Ok my receipt using DDE was seperated out and did have 18% gratuity, and assuming the other party paid it automatically using DDP.

We were a party of 11 at Chef Mickeys in June. 7 had the DDP - our family of 4 did not. They presented us with a separate check WITH 18% gratuity added. They also presented a 3rd check with an alcoholic drink ordered by the family with the DDP.

Check your receipt before you add a tip. During this trip, I've seen it both ways. There were 4 of us at Garden Grill. 2 on DDP 2 on DDE. Our DDP 18% tip carried over onto their check. At Liberty Tree Tavern, on the other hand, there were 8 of us. The 6 on the DDE didn't have a tip included.

OK, what about this scenario: we are going in November and even though I am an AP holder, we booked a package so we could get the DDP because DH loves the DDP! I also have the DDE, which I used in April when mom and I went without the DDP.

I made reservations for 3 at Wolfgang Pucks Cafe Downstairs for my DH and me who are on the dining plan, and for my brother who lives in Florida and always meets us at DD for a meal when we come. So what I want is separate checks for DH and I for the DDP, and we want to pay for my brother's meal and use my DDE for a discount on it. Is that possible? The CM didn't know when I booked.

AFAIK Pucks don't accept DDE.

*sigh* That figures. That was the only time I could use it on the trip. I no way got my $65 back on it, it was kind of a waste for use since we usually have the DDP.

Do you think they will split the check? DB will not have the DDP, but I really do not want to pay OOP for all three meals.

Puck's does not accept DDE. There are only 3 DTD restaurants that do - Planet Hollywood, Raglan Road, and Cap'n Jack's.

Usually there is not a problem getting the check split. However, since you are on the DDP and your brother is not, the only bill will be for his meal, plus anything you ordered that is not covered by DDP (i.e. alcoholic beverages). Couldn't you just pay the bill if you want to buy him his meal? Since you can't use DDE it won't matter whose check it is.

I just was wondering more if they will let us use the DDP for our own meals and pay OOP for his (I remembered seeing somewhere that everyone at the table had to be on the same plan and wasn't sure they'd let us use the DDP credits, and one party use OOP at the same table). If they just give us a bill, that's perfect! :)

I found my DDE list, and you are right, there are only a couple places at DD that take DDE, so no worries on that score. I just want to be able to pay OOP just for his, not have to pay OOP for ours too and throw away dining credits as it will be our last night and no time to use them anywhere else.

Everybody staying in your room has to be on DDP, not everybody at the same table when you're dining. I've been to meals with local friends while I am on DDP. They just got a bill.

Cool, thank you so much! I know they will let us use DDP and pay OOP for his! :)

Thanks a million! I knew people here would know! :)
