That update was PERFECTION!!!! Great job! You guys are going to be in heaven at SWW!!!!
Thanks, Jen! We were kind of hit and miss the last time we were there for SWW, so this time we are really going to take full advantage of everything.
I love the Star Wars lessons. Now, I'll be able to understand what my nephew is talking about.
Well, Connor thinks we left too much out of it, so if your still confused when your nephew starts talking, I won't tell Connor. He will just say, "I told you so."
Madison saw her first Star Wars movie (Episode 3) this past summer. She is now a Star Wars junkie and knows more about the movies than I do (I watched Return of the Jedi almost everyday when I was little). Around Labor Day, there was a Star Wars marathon on Spike TV and we dvr'd it for her in our basement. She watched all of the movies all of the time, so Santa brought her the entire set on DVD. She can now watch the movies anywhere she wants without any fastforwarding.
She also received many
Lego Star Wars sets for Christmas and made all of them over Christmas break (we only helped her on a few of them...she built the Battle of Endor...890 pieces...all by herself!). We also gave her Lego Star Wars for the Wii for her birthday in October. She is 90% Jedi right now and has almost completed all of the extra little missions.
Needless to say, we NEED to go to Star Wars Weekends sometime in the near future!
That's adorable about Madison! I was the same way about Star Wars when I was little -- I would have been in heaven with DVDs and Lego sets! Sadly, those were a long way off, and I had to content myself with some action figures and bedsheets. Oh, and I had a record of The Empire Strikes Back soundtrack.
Hey Jackie. So the kids were out all week?? I love that video of the Atlanta woman. She was funny. Look what I made this morning
They were very good!! The boys liked them.
Are you off today for the holiday or are you in school??
Hi! Yes, the kids were out ALL last week -- all totaled, they have been out of school for ten days!

In the last month, they have only been in school for four days! Unbelievable. We were off today, and I am ready to head back and get a routine going again. I think my kids' brains have turned to mush.
I am so glad everyone at your house liked the muffins. Yours look delicious!
I saw the original Star Wars movies and loved them! The new ones, I have no idea about...
I do however enjoy SWW!!!
We are going to have a lot of fun there together, right, Anita? Maybe we can get pictures together with the Stormtroopers.

And you are going to be my Tower of Terror buddy (enabler onto the ride), right?
With all the prompting on HD's thread I decided to get started on my new TR, so I'm over here issuing an invite.
Please join me!
It's the first link in my siggie!
Yeay! I am so glad you started! (I am still trying to get over ending up on page three.

)
Oh yeah, Oh Yeah...It is all about the prompting, and poking, and whining, Hey, if it works...
Can't WAIT!
Get on it, Jackie!!!
I agree, Happydog! Whatever works to get Anita to do a TR!
I was a bit slow getting over there today. (Ended up on page three.

But I am not bitter at myself.

)
Okay, that was very cool, complete with audio/visuals and graphics. But what was really running through my mind??
"yup, these people are definitely snowed in with no other options..."

THANKFULLY that was the case, b/c otherwise how else would I have gotten my Spark Notes edition to the SW Saga!!??
Doesn't it just scream, "We were snowed in for a week"?

So happy our forced incarceration could help others though.
THANK you Connor and Jackie. Of course, I am sure the whole process was a very educational activity, replete with editing, grammar checking -- passive voice, rich vocabulary, subject verb agreement, and other Language Arts development.... Hey. From ONE teacher to another...
Here I was thinking it was just a fun way to spend time with Connor. LOL! Now I feel like a really great mom with all that subversive teaching I was doing!
As always, lovin' your PTR...
Awww, thanks!
Thanks for the primer, Jackie! I feel a Star Wars marathon coming on! My favorites have always been and always will be the originals (now episodes 4, 5 and 6

that is so weird to me!

) The kids have seen those and the episodes 1-3 multiple times, but I have seen 1-3 only once, so the synopsis was very helpful. Oh, and I couldn’t agree more with this:
It is really weird to me to have to differentiate the older movies by calling them 4, 5, and 6. I always want to say, "the first three." I am with you -- I only watched the newer ones once, and I don't know if I can even really claim to have seen Episode One since I fell asleep while watching it sometime during the pod races. Anything after that is a mystery to me. LOL!
Thank you for the concise and thorough Star Wars primer!
My friend has a ton ton (sp?) sleeping bag. It's like the dead ton ton that Luke slept in. You can see the guts drawn all over the inside of the sleeping bag. So strange! Claire was snuggling in it yesterday at my friend's house. Funny and gross at the same time!
I saw that sleeping bag over on the Star Wars Shop website! Too funny! I decided I couldn't really subject Connor to it! I can just see Claire snuggling up in it. Did you get a picture by any chance?
Thanks for the mini lesson, Jackie.
Now I finally understand Star Wars.
Your students are lucky to have such an awesome teacher.
Thanks! I had a lot of fun with the Star Wars "lesson". I am not sure I am that fun when teaching verb tenses.
