Sensing Pixie Dust I Am! A Star Wars Weekend PTR! New PTR Link pg. 77!

Okay, I will read the books. I'll at least add them to my ever growing list.

Now that clown commercial - I swear, I don't have a big fear of clowns. The thing about that commercial is that they use that creepy murder Psycho type music and all that. It makes it seem even creepier! It's all in the context for me. Sad thing is, it's a commercial for the POSTAL SERVICE!! My DH is a mailman, so we had a good chuckle. That mailman has a great reaction to the clown! I can't imagine DH doing that ad! Of course, he doesn't wear a uniform, or walk his route, so it's a bit different. But he does visit with some of the customers on his route.
Okay, that was probably more information than you needed.

Carry on.

I'm in the group that has never liked clowns, not funny to me. I vever like circuses when I was a child, nor do Icare much for them now. I do get a kick out of that Priority Mail ad, very imaginative.

I'm getting a Kindle soon, it's in the pipeline, so may have to order those KK books. I loved the Harry Potter books, great stories.

I'm going to increase my stay by a couple more days. Four days & 5 nights are just not enough!

I hope that the missing school days will not mess up your trip to Disney. Here the schools have run out of snow days, the outgoing governor changed it to 3 days from 5. The new one wants to change it back.

Love the Kingdom Keeper books! I've read all 3 and looking forward to the 4th one coming out in April. I've heard there's also going to be one on a cruise. I've even read the first 2 to Hannah as bedtime stories and currently reading the 3rd one to her. She really likes these books and when we were at AK and saw DeVine she said "Mommy! That's just like Charlene!" Made me proud! LOL If they don't scare an 8 year old then all you adults should be fine!

Peter and the Starcatcher books were excellent, too, and I've recently finished the Neverland Books that are about what James and the other boys do on the island while Peter is away. They're very quick reads. Hannah has read the first one and is slowly reading the second one.

No school for us all week either, and, they're out on Monday for MLK day. They were supposed to have a make-up day today but that got canceled as well. Not sure when they'll do a make up day for the make up day! LOL The sun is shining brightly here today and I can finally see more grass than snow in the front yard.

Glad you are thawing out. I was starting to go nuts being home just Mon and Tues. Just walking around today there are still a few very icy patches on our sidewalks, where the sun does not shine.

Ha ha, you know I was just having a conversation with my mom the other day about having a survival kit. Apparently, I feel that all the survival items I need in my car are a pair of grey boots and a scraper. Don't think that's going to cut it.

Nutella would most definitely be in my survival kit as well. Can't live without it.

I added two more days onto my trip, I was able to still get the free dining added for those days.

Glad your world is back to normal because the whole IASW Shining thing was freakin' me out a bit. :rotfl2:

:lmao:

That recipe looks great! Perfect kid food (and for those of us with a permanent sweet tooth)!

Thanks! It turned out really well -- those muffins disappeared pretty quick!

I noticed on Amazon that Kingdom Keepers IV come out on April 5th. This time the action involves Downtown Disney. All kidding aside they are fun books to read. I enjoy that I can picture ever place the action happens. It adds to the story. I am half way through book II and have book III ready when I finish. They have been fun reads, while snowed in.

Yeay! I am so excited it is coming out before Easter -- someone will be getting a copy in their Easter basket!

I agree with everyone that has seen the Clown/doll commercial once was enough.

I thought it was hysterical!

What she said !!!! Yes, read them. I was able to get all 3 of them at the library.
I heard there was a 4th. Did it come out ?

Micandminforever says April 5th! :thumbsup2

Too funny! I offered to show it to Charles and he said, "No thanks! Some things are just not meant to be." Apparently he is not a fan of clowns either.

I guess if the area they are getting food from can't leave due to the same weather, you won't be able to get your deliveries. I hope at some point the can just excuse some days.

Me too! I am hoping they take the February days and a teacher workday in March instead of messing with the end of the school year.

Okay, I will read the books. I'll at least add them to my ever growing list.

You'll like them! So would your girls and probably your DH!

Love the story! I just thought it was a funny commercial. I laughed over the whole, "It's got to go."

I'm in the group that has never liked clowns, not funny to me. I vever like circuses when I was a child, nor do Icare much for them now. I do get a kick out of that Priority Mail ad, very imaginative.

Yes, I agree the commercial is very clever.

I'm getting a Kindle soon, it's in the pipeline, so may have to order those KK books. I loved the Harry Potter books, great stories.

I keep thinking about a Kindle, but since I get most of my books from the library, I don't know if it would be cost effective.

I'm going to increase my stay by a couple more days. Four days & 5 nights are just not enough!

I always feel like we need more time at Disney.

I am hoping we are done with snow for the winter. In fact, if spring wanted to start today I would be okay with that. LOL!

It's fun to see the things at the parks that they experience in the books.

Peter and the Starcatcher books were excellent, too, and I've recently finished the Neverland Books that are about what James and the other boys do on the island while Peter is away. They're very quick reads. Hannah has read the first one and is slowly reading the second one.

I haven't read those yet -- I need to find them!

No school for us all week either, and, they're out on Monday for MLK day. They were supposed to have a make-up day today but that got canceled as well. It's been a crazy week! My dad pointed out that in the last month, we have only had kids four day! That's craziness!

Glad you are thawing out. I was starting to go nuts being home just Mon and Tues. Just walking around today there are still a few very icy patches on our sidewalks, where the sun does not shine.

I think my kids were pretty stir crazy by the end of it all!

Ha ha, you know I was just having a conversation with my mom the other day about having a survival kit. Apparently, I feel that all the survival items I need in my car are a pair of grey boots and a scraper. Don't think that's going to cut it.

:lmao: All I have in the car is an ice scraper -- I don't even have the boots.

Hurray! That's awesome!

Some libraries offer downloads for Kindles & there are lots of free books out there. I'm more of a classics & non fiction type of reader, mostly history. I thought that I would never have any use for a Kindle, but my mind has been changed.

I'm more than ready for warm weather! :woohoo:

popcorn:: joining in popcorn::

Welcome!!! Glad to have you here!

Fun! I didn't realize libraries were doing that now.

Warm weather would be wonderful.

Since our May trip will center around Star Wars Weekends and the opening of the new Star Tours ride and not all of you are Star Wars experts, Connor and I thought we should provide you with a primer of all things important in the Star Wars universe for your reading pleasure. Beware there are some spoilers in all of this.

First, it is important to understand some of the lingo associated with Star Wars.

Jedis are knight-type people who can control the Force and use light sabers. They are the protectors of the galaxy.

Jedis.jpg

Lightsabers are glowing sticks of light that can cut through metal and make whoosing noises. Click to hear the light sabers over and over.

Lightsabers

Hyperspace is when your ship goes really fast. On Han Solo’s ship, it usually stops working at inopportune times as can be seen in the video below.

Hyperspace Mishaps

The Republic is the old democracy that the Empire gets rid of.

The Empire is the ultimate bad dictatorship ruled by the Emperor and his assistant, Darth Vader.

The Rebellion rises up to defeat the Empire in movies four through six.

Second, it is important to understand the chronology of the movies.

Episode One: The Phantom Menace: It’s about the invasion of Naboo where Padme is the elected queen. It mostly centers around Obi-Wan’s and Anakin Skywalker’s past. Anakin is about ten in this film. Darth Maul is the bad guy with a dual-handled light saber. Oh, and he’s red.

DarthMaul.jpg

Episode Two: The Attack of the Clones: Anakin is a young adult studying to be a Jedi; Obi-Wan is his teacher. Anakin and Padme fall in love, and the Republic finds out Qui-Gon Jinn (Obi-Wan’s old master) hired some strange people to clone soldiers called Clone Troopers. General Grievous gives insect robots a bad name.

Episode Three: The Revenge of the Sith: Everything goes to pieces. Anakin is turned to the Dark Side, all JedI’s are eradicated by Order 66, Yoda and Obi-Wan go into hiding, and Padme gives birth to Luke and Leia and then dies. The twins are hidden away.

AnakinTurning.jpg

Episode Four: A New Hope: Luke joins forces with Obi-Wan, Han Solo, and Chewbacca to rescue Princess Leia from the evil clutches of Darth Vader (who ironically is her daddy but nobody knows this) only fall into a pit of garbage before escaping from the Death Star (not an actual star).

Episode Five: The Empire Strikes Back: An epic snow battle that ends with a Yeti losing his home, Luke meets a small green hermit guy with a funny voice who teaches him to harness the Force, Han Solo and Princess Leia kiss before he is frozen in carbonite, and Luke gets some disturbing news about his family.

Hoth.jpg

Episode Six: The Return of the JedI: Han Solo is rescued from a slug (a very big slug), Luke confronts Darth Vader, and the Empire is felled by the slingshots of small teddy bears. Everyone celebrates.

Some additional things to remember about these films.

Ewoks are not hairy dwarves. They are small tribes people native to the moon of Endor.

Ewoks.jpg

Chewbacca is not a long-haired dog. He is a Wookie native to Kashyyyk and is the last of his kind.

In every movie, at least one person says, “I have a bad feeling about this.”

Click for Video Proof:
I Have a bad Feeling!

The Phantom Menace introduces the most annoying character you will ever meet in a film: the infamous Jar-Jar Binks.

And that is your Star Wars lesson for the day.

I feel a Star Wars marathon coming on Jackie! I don't think Jared has even seen them all, I need to fix that!

Oh, and my family wanted me to pass along a big thank-you, I made the doughnut muffins this morning, they were a big hit!

We love Star Wars here! DBF is excited but apprehensive about the new ride, though. We both love the original and how it pays homage to the old (and in our opinion superior) movies. I hope those elements aren't completely done away with!

Thank you for the SW historical time line Jackie!!:worship:
I have seen some of them....the ones with Harrison :lovestruc but I didn't know about the whole Anakin storyline etc. :thumbsup2

Hope you are enjoying your weekend! :goodvibes

Tracy

Thank you for the Star Wars lesson. I have to admit, I'm still confused! I saw Star Wars when I was about 7, this is as far as I ever got in the series....is that weird? :confused3 :rotfl2:

THIS WAS CLASSIC!!!!!! Totally Awesome!!!

I'm huge into Star Wars and I just loved your two sentence synopsis of each movie....giant slug LOL!!!!!!!! Too funny....disturbing news about his family....LOL!!!!! OY!! I'm going to get Prince Phillip to read this, he'll love it!!!!!

What a great overview. You had me laughing out loud quite a few times. I am a big fan of the "first" three movies (4-6) but was never able to get myself into the more recently released movies. Maybe I'll give them another try. May I email Connor with questions?

I will copy that off and take it with me next time. When I see a character, I'll say, "Hold it right there until I can identify you." :thumbsup2

I did learn who that big brown furry guy that had to be burning up was --- Chewbacca. :yay:

I think some future Connor videos will help me even more.

Thanks for the Star Wars lesson. I watched a couple of the movies but I needed the lesson. :rotfl2:
