Sensing Pixie Dust I Am! A Star Wars Weekend PTR! New PTR Link pg. 77!

Did you make your ADRs online or by phone? Which is the better way? I usually do it by phone.

Hope that you get back to school tomorrow, I know all about cabin fever. It has been snowing all day here. Nothing like the northeast, but nevertheless it is enough to last me the rest of the winter.
Doris:eek:

Quick Update: I found the donut muffin recipe, so you don't have to repost it for me :) (it is in post 254 on page 17 if anyone else is trying to find it ;) ) They look delish! During lunch, I went to the store across the street from my job and it was a mad house! But I was able to get the flour I needed

Thanks - I was going to go back and look for that muffin recipe too!!

pssst - PTR alert!! See signature.

Donut muffins sounds yummy! What's in them ETA: Found recipe!!
Love the Nutella in the essentials box-- definitely an essential in our house! The Hogwarts is amazing-- we're pretty positive we're getting snowed in here tomorrow and are planning on having an HP movie marathon!

It started snowing again today around noon. Crazy! School is closed again tomorrow for us.

That Hogwars Lego building is so COOL! That was a LOT of work!
We have been seeing Atlanta on the news since you recieved your snowfall. I feel badly for those who had flight plans. It looks like you made the most of your day off and had good time with your kids. I'm interested in the donut muffins, though. They look yummy!! What was on the top of them?

Okay- I'll trade you; I'll take the snow day and you can return to work! We are expecting it to snow all night with a total of 4 to 8 inches. Depending on the timing, it might be a 2 hour delay.

Aside from going stir crazy, I'm sure the panic over the extended year is a factor!

oh gosh your snow party looks awesome!!

Doughnut muffins....sounds like :cloud9: to me!

And Hogwarts...how COOL does that look! Congrats to you and Connor for completing it!

OY!! I have to go back and read but any word yet if you'll have school tomorrow???

Love Chelsea's snow survival kit!! Nutella would be in mine too LOL!!!

You would make a great weatherwoman...maybe Jim needs a partner in crime LOL :rotfl: ;)

Love the Hogwarts set!! TOO CUTE!!! Love it!!!

Jackie thanks for the link for the doughnut muffins. I printed it out & will make them soon.

Love the emergency kit Chelsea made:goodvibes. Both my sons love the Nutella also. There is always some on the counter.

Good job with the Lego's & playing Disney games:thumbsup2. Looks like a great time.

Nice pics of the snow castle & being a weather girl. Very good job!!;)

Well we are bracing here for the storm. According to the map we are in for 12-18 inches & should start sometime before dawn tomorrow morning. My oldest is on college break but hoping he does not have to work & Cody is already planning on them calling off school:). I know DH & I will have to go in to work but really hoping we get to come home early as the brunt of the storm will be the middle of the day. They are saying we will get 1 & 1/2 inches per hour. Not sure how they know this yet...

I have plans to make cupcakes when I get home (early)!!;)

I've really been enjoying all my southern friends stories the last few days. Y'all make it an event when you have a snow day! Us New Englanders either just go back to bed or go out and run errands!

:rotfl: nice Heidi...

I commented on FB already...and read a post form my Aunt ypu'll be out of school again tomorrow...geez. What a pain :headache: Maybe Atlanta needs to outsource some plows...I think I head you have like 8? oh well, hope it's over soon so you can get back to school....doesn't Mother Nature and the School Super know you have a Disney trip to go on come May? ;)

Sorry if you end up missing too much school Jackie!! Atlanta has been all over the news. Hope your weather gets better soon! Now it's heading to the NE. We are doing okay here - an inch or two over the last two days. Now I hear by next week we are going to get the ARTIC SUBZERO BLAST!!!

I have decided to take my own snow day on Friday. It's a holiday weekend and my boss is going to be gone on Thursday and Friday this week, so I will not be missed! I'm going to stay home and get stuff done and take the dog to the vet. I don't need it to snow!!!

Ah, the snow. Yes. It seems as though it has come from you up my way, and now we are having our snow day. Fortunately, my husband told me about our own impending doom and I stocked up on the TK household essentials. Which are, actually, quite similar to Chelsea's in that it involves good reading material!

See, instead of running to the grocery store yesterday, I went to the library, and took out oodles of books and three DVDs in full preparedness for a day of pajamas and popcorn and movies and good books.

And perhaps I'll make something in my crock pot.

Anyway, in all my long windedness, I understand how you feel. It must be crazy for you guys to have so much time off from school due to snow! I hope it doesn't affect your end of year at all, and that the snow gods leave you alone for a bit.

Btw, love Hogwarts! :goodvibes

I think you would make an awesome weather girl, Jackie!

Ha ha! Thanks, MeMom! On Monday Chelsea said maybe she would like to work behind the scenes at the Weather Channel when she grows up. I told her I thought that was an awesome idea. Do you know how happy I would be to have Connor work for Disney and Chelsea work for the Weather Channel? My Christmas letters would be beyond obnoxious.

Connor's Lego stuff looks fun.

We had a lot of fun with it.

Chelsea's emergency kit is just cute. Jill and I got a kick out of it.

I laugh everytime I see it. She ate the cookies yesterday.

I looked at the donut muffins recipe and noticed a good suggestion from one of the reviewers. They made mini muffins and tossed them with the sugar in a ziplock bag. She said it was like eating donut holes. I will have to give these a try, for sure. Thanks for sharing. I may be making banana bread today, as I have a few bananas that are in need of being eaten.

I like the idea of making them as mini muffins because they are really rich. I love banana bread -- save me a slice!

Now that the snow is pretty much over, the temperatures are going to drop for the next three days. We'll have the low teens every night until Saturday. Seeing 40 on the forecast for the weekend looked very good.

We won't see 40 until Saturday, too. It will feel like a heat wave!

It's nice to have a snow day. More then 1 or 2, not so much. One winter while I was in high school we got a bout 6 inches of snow with almost 2 inches of ice. School was out for 2 weeks. My sisters in college living at home, and my dad was off work with the weather as well. One night after being sick and tired of fighting with eachother and even looking at eachother, dad had a great idea. He said, "Lets just go outside and beat the crap outta eachother." Of course we didn't but it was enough of a shock and ice breaker that we laughed and laughed and still tell that story today. Cabin fever had set in and we were crazy!

Two weeks? Oh my! Love the story! :rotfl:

I hope all this melts soon and you all can go back about your business. Don't they know you have a Disney trip and all these snow days cannot interfere!?

I think if our Disney trip wasn't so close to the end of school, I would be less stressed about missing all these days. Surely we will be back in school tomorrow. I hope.

Chelsea's emergency box is too funny! I love seeing the kids use beach toys to play in the snow!

How many snow days can you afford until they bump into your trip? :confused3

So do you just wait for the snow to melt? Are there any snow plows down there?

You can tell we are more used to playing in the sand than the snow. LOL!

We don't have any snow days built into the calendar. I am hoping they take away the four-day weekend in February and then there is a teacher workday in March they could make a student day.

Atlanta has 11 snow plows, but I read they are getting more in today to help with clearing the roads.

Oh, Jackie, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that the snow will melt enough today for you to have school back in session tomorrow! A couple of snow days are fine, but three is pushing it. LOVE Chelsea's emergency kit! I think my diva of a daughter would pack similar things - but instead of Seventeen magazine, it would be her prized copy of Justin Bieber's biography!

Another snow day today. The snow and ice started melting yesterday, but the roads were all slushy. It all refroze last night when the low was 20.

Sorry if I missed this in a previous post, but what exactly is a donut muffin? It sounds like something I must have! They looked good, whatever they are! We're expecting up to 4" of snow tonight and I prepared yesterday by making a batch of brownies and making cookie dough so I can drop cookies tomorrow. But...I used up all of my flour and need to run to the store at lunch to buy more so I can make breakfast tomorrow! I clearly have my priorities in order :lmao:

Snow Day breakfasts are very important! :thumbsup2 Did you get the four inches of snow? I haven't turned on the Weather Channel yet this morning to see what is happening on the east coast.

I also LOVE Connor's Hogwarts Logo set. Was that Professor Snape behind Dumbledore?!? I've gotta get my son into the HP books so that he can be a nerd right along with me!

Yep, that is Snape behind Dumbledore. Oh, yes, you must get your DS to start reading them. Connor loved all seven of them.

Now, I wasn't there for the Blizzard of 93, but I lived in Atlanta during the Blizzard of 95. Actually, it was only about 1/2" of snow. I was about to drive home from my boyfriend's house, but he insisted it would be safer if he drove me home. He was an ATL native, so he didn't have much experience with driving in snow. I'm a VA native, so I hadn't had much experience up to that point either. I'm sure you can see where this story is headed  He ended up running over a mailbox and destroying my axel! We were OK, but his wallet wasn't, because he had to pay for the damages.

Oh, goodness! How scary!

I like your "Jackie the News Anchor" look! No make up needed! Plus, your hair is perfectly coiffed!

Ha ha! Thanks! :goodvibes

We are getting ready for a foot or more of snow here in RI tonight- but obviously we are better equipped :)

Is ice a threat as well?

I bet the kids are having a blast! Since the Blizzard of '78 here, a survival kit includes milk & bread- the stores completely empty out of both before a big storm. It always struck me as funny why those 2 things are what everyone feels they can't live without :confused3

I know. I haven't touched the bread this week. :confused3 However, the milk is going pretty fast since we are using it to make hot chocolate. I think we are eating about four times as much as we normally do.

A good friend lives in Baltimore now and after they survived their snowed in week last year she tells everyone her #1 storm provision is toilet paper :rotfl2: and patience :lmao:

Have fun!

Patience is something I need a little more of -- we are all getting a bit stir crazy around here.

I'm glad you all got outside a bit and enjoyed the snow. Too much time together inside can equal some fighting. We're on snow day 2 as well and it's started here. We will all be going outside for a little bit today if possible!

You can tell the novelty of the snow is wearing off around here -- Chelsea and Connor only went out once yesterday to play.

Love Chelsea's emergency kit. She knows how to do a snow day! :)

Cute pictures Jackie. You always have lots of fun around your house it seems.

Thanks! Of course, I left out the parts where I was yelling at the kids to stop tramping snow through the house. LOL!

Snow Cream?!? I think we need to tell hollisterluva92 what is in that snow!!!!!:scared1::rotfl2:

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

I had to laugh at the "bundled up" photos of your kids. That's what we wear in our house all winter (minus the hats)! When my daughter goes outside to play in the snow, she wears: jeans, t-shirt, sweatshirt, 2 pairs of socks, winter boots, snow pants, a scarf, gloves, mittens over the gloves, winter coat and a hat. When we get as much snow as you guys just got, that's just a regular winter day up here in Buffalo.

Hope your snow days don't mess up your Disney plans!

That's about what the kids ended up being bundled in except for the snow pants. My mom took us to Buffalo and Niagara Falls in January of 1991. It was -18 at the Falls and I have never been so cold! I don't know how you do it all winter! :sad2:

What are doughnut muffins????? They sound amazing!!!

I am really enjoying reading about your plans so far. I know I haven't commented much on your reports but I love reading them very much! I love your style of writing and your family are lots of fun!!!

Julie xxx

Thanks, Julie! Did you see the post on page 17 with the link to the muffins.

We try to have a good time together. :goodvibes

Ooooo, those doughnut muffins look yummy, thanks for sharing the recipe, I think I'll make some this weekend!

Much to the disappointment of my children, we didn't get any snow, a few flakes around lunch time yesterday and that was it. It's fine with me though, I don't want any snow days, we've no time for make up days at the end of the school year with our trip and the last day being so close together. I think ours is even tighter than yours, we've just got a 2 day cushion!

With only a two day cushion you definitely don't need any snow days! I am going to be a bit stressed until I find out how they are planning on making up these days. I just don't want to have to try and beg to be allowed to miss the last few days.

Watch out next year he will be planning the trip!!!!

Oh, heavens! Can you imagine???

I've been hearing all about these Donut Muffins and hear there's a recipe somewhere, but I couldn't find it.

I'm so glad we didn't get any snow out of this storm. Ours has been mostly rain. I guess it was sleeting a bit this morning, but the roads seemed fine to me. After our foot of snow on Christmas, I'm just happy it's all gone and no more showed up!

You must try them -- the boys would love them. I have had enough snow for the winter, that's for sure!

Just wanted to pop in with a quick comment on the ADRs. They look awesome! I don't know if I've ever told you this, but I've eaten at the GF cafe a few times and really love it. Consistenly good food, consistently good service, and of course that beautiful GF atmosphere. I really think the family will like it.

I remember you eating at the GF Cafe on one of your trips. That's why I thought it would be a good one for us to try since I remembered you enjoying it. :thumbsup2

ooo yum the doughnut muffins sound delicious! I might make some tomorrow since I won't be going anywhere if we get the foot of snow they say we'll be getting. My fingers are crossed for you that you don't get another snow day tomorrow!

Another snow day for us! Did you get that foot of snow?

I found the recipe!

Yeay! :goodvibes

Hope ya'll are hanging in there  There is only sooooo much you can do at home or even online for that matter :sad2:
Eleven plows All this snow is somehow reminiscent of a Twilight Zone episode

Yes, it is like something out of the Twilight Zone...

Isn't it fun how we are loading up the Sherpa for the trip in May? Well she did declare herself to be the responsible one and keep us out of trouble We'll just see how that works after rolling her out of The Ditch

I cannot wait for all the stories. LOL!

Oh....I downloaded the Kingdom Keepers for my Kindle....I remember buying the book for Brielle years ago and who knows where that is. It's a fun book and I will be thinking of it when I ride "It's a Small World"

Tracy

Thankfully Charles has never read The Kingdom Keepers or he might change his mind about giving It's a Small World another shot. LOL!

REDRUM! REDRUM!!!

:lmao:

Your ADRs look good. I can vouch for the cuteness of the waiters at Via Napoli!

Thank goodness! You know that is always a selling point for some people in our house. :rolleyes1

TOO much fun at your house CP!!!!

Hey, Believe you me, WDW is my new storm getaway next time we end up with the 2 feet of white stuff like we had last year! It worked for us... of course that was like blizzard # 3... ;) Now of course we all feel robbed up here b/c we have hardly had an inch or two at best! They say we are getting 2 -4... Yeah yeah, we'll see! I think we are all starving for a snow day!!!

WDW is the PERFECT storm getaway! Wish I was there right now! ;)

Okay back to your PTR.

WHAT a delightful bunch of fun! Those muffins, I need that recipie too! Where is it? I like the popem' sized idea, MeMom! :thumbsup2

It's on page 17 near the end somewhere. You can put your boys to work doing the toppings. It was great fun for my two.

Tell Connor his Hogwart Castle looks TOOOOOOOOOOOO cool.... :yay: And I of course totally appreciated the close up of the mini figures... you know those are big in our house! We have all these owls from the Hogwart Express train set, which are comical...

There were quite a few owls in Hogwarts, too. :rotfl:

The castle molds are PERFECT for the snow! You all look like you are having a great time, I especially like the "modeling" of the ice on snow... Yes, for you Southerners I suspect that would be considered "novel" --

Oh, yes, it is something we don't see very often, that's for sure. I meant to get out there yesterday and take a picture of the finished snow castle, but it was destroyed in a snowball fight before I had a chance to -- oh well.

I just love that you guys have fun with Disney board games!!! You and Charles won??!! Impressive! Once when we were playing Disney Trivia or Pictionary (can't remember now) my DBIL was trying to get his friend to guess "Snow White" -- well it wasn't going very well, the timer was almost empty, and he got so exasperated that he jumped up and shouted out "APPLE EATER!" AS if. :rotfl2:

I am :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2: over the Apple Eater comment. We have Disney Pictionary somewhere that we have never even played -- maybe I need to get that out today.

I hope you dont have a problem with the snowdays running into the end of the school year for you -- last year we used all our days and then some, so the state waived the extra days... so maybe yours will too if need be. Afterall, it is only Mid-January... we fled our last storm of Snowmageddon in February... it may not be over!

Waiving the days would be perfect as long as we still get paid for them. I need the money for Disney. ;)

Did you make your ADRs online or by phone? Which is the better way? I usually do it by phone.

Lately I have been doing them online. So easy and they send you an email confirmation.

Hope that you get back to school tomorrow, I know all about cabin fever. It has been snowing all day here. Nothing like the northeast, but nevertheless it is enough to last me the rest of the winter.
Doris:eek:

Another snow day here for us. I am more than ready for spring at this point.

Yeay for getting the flour. Now you can bake today -- which I feel like I have been doing for three days straight. Charles even asked what the Bakery was making today. LOL!

Yes I found the muffin recipe thank you! I won't be able to bake them for a while - we are moving house and most of my baking ingredients are packed :rotfl:
But they will def. be on my to-do list as soon as we are settled into the new house.

Thank you!

Thanks - I was going to go back and look for that muffin recipe too!!

pssst - PTR alert!! See signature.

I am so excited about your Dream cruise!!! Can't wait to see all the pictures of the fun you are going to have!

Donut muffins sounds yummy! What's in them ETA: Found recipe!!
Love the Nutella in the essentials box-- definitely an essential in our house!

Chelsea is such a Nutella fiend she refuses to share with anyone else. LOL!

The Hogwarts is amazing-- we're pretty positive we're getting snowed in here tomorrow and are planning on having an HP movie marathon!

A HP marathon is perfect for a snowy day!

It started snowing again today around noon. Crazy! School is closed again tomorrow for us.

It started snowing again up here, too, and another snow day for us. I am ready for things to be back to normal.

That Hogwars Lego building is so COOL! That was a LOT of work!

Thanks! It was easier than I thought it would be to build.

We have been seeing Atlanta on the news since you recieved your snowfall. I feel badly for those who had flight plans. It looks like you made the most of your day off and had good time with your kids. I'm interested in the donut muffins, though. They look yummy!! What was on the top of them?

It's hard to believe Hartsfield is the world's busiest airport from the footage they have been showing lately.

Cinnamon sugar on top of the muffins!

I have had enough of snow, that's for sure! Yes, extending the school year may bring on a full-fledged panic attack.

oh gosh your snow party looks awesome!!

Doughnut muffins....sounds like :cloud9: to me!

And Hogwarts...how COOL does that look! Congrats to you and Connor for completing it!

Thanks! We had a lot of fun on Monday. Tuesday wasn't quite as successful. LOL!

OY!! I have to go back and read but any word yet if you'll have school tomorrow???

Nope, no school today. :sad2:

Love Chelsea's snow survival kit!! Nutella would be in mine too LOL!!!

:lmao:

You would make a great weatherwoman...maybe Jim needs a partner in crime LOL :rotfl: ;)

Love the Hogwarts set!! TOO CUTE!!! Love it!!!

I want one of those cool Weather Channel coats they are always wearing. LOL!

Jackie thanks for the link for the doughnut muffins. I printed it out & will make them soon.

We have eleven, but they are borrowing more from somewhere. Don't know where since I read 49 states have snow right now. What a crazy winter! I really don't want my May trip to be impacted.

Ugh, an arctic blast sounds too cold for me.

I have decided to take my own snow day on Friday. It's a holiday weekend and my boss is going to be gone on Thursday and Friday this week, so I will not be missed! I'm going to stay home and get stuff done and take the dog to the vet. I don't need it to snow!!!

That's the best kind of snow day -- one where you can still get stuff done!

As far as I am concerned, we have had our snow for the year. LOL!

Btw, love Hogwarts! :goodvibes

Thanks! We had a lot of fun with it.

Yes I found the muffin recipe thank you! I won't be able to bake them for a while - we are moving house and most of my baking ingredients are packed :rotfl:

Good luck with your move! :goodvibes

So, it looks like we'll have at least one day overlap on Disney trips this year! We're 99% sure we're heading down June 1 - June 8 :goodvibes

I love Chelsea's emergency box!
Hogwarts is amazing. I think my nephew may be getting one this weekend for his 7th birthday.

That layer of ice is scary! And on the roads, it's worse. No wonder school has been closed. Is the ice melting at all? Are you going to have to make up these snow days? I hope not. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

It snowed here last night and this morning. But our school (a university-based lab school) follows the NYC Department of Ed schedule regarding school closings. Our brilliant mayor decided to open school even though most teachers, including me, live in the outer boroughs on streets that have yet to be plowed. I  my street. It's quiet and out of the way. But, the plows often forget about us.
