Sensing Pixie Dust I Am! A Star Wars Weekend PTR! New PTR Link pg. 77!

Hey Jackie! I was just curious as to how your trip binder is going? I just started mine yesterday! I'm going to post pics later today on my pre-trip report!

Snow Day breakfasts are very important! :thumbsup2 Did you get the four inches of snow? I haven't turned on the Weather Channel yet this morning to see what is happening on the east coast.

We didn't get the 4" of snow or a snow day :( Northern VA and DC got about an inch, MD got about 2". The VA county that I live in, as well as most of the DC Metro area, only had a 2 hour delayed school opening. I dropped the kids off at school by 11 and I was at work by 11:30. I made use of my morning off and made donut muffins! Thank you so much for posting that recipe! Chip declared that it was the best muffin I had ever made :goodvibes and Minnie managed to say between bites "OMG, Mom, these are SOOO good!" All three of us had a couple this morning and took some with us for snacks later in the day ;)

Atlanta has 11 snow plows, but I read they are getting more in today to help with clearing the roads.

My little town of 23,000 people has more plows than that!!
Then again, we do need them more often. With all the snow we got, I think they've used up all the budget for salt/sand chemicals to treat the roads.
Your public works budget is probably all used up for 2011 already!!

On a totally unrelated side note, can I just say how jealous I am of your real estate this morning? DH and I were watching an episode of House Hunters, and it was a suburb of Atlanta. I couldn't believe how much square footage you can get for your dollar compared to here.

That's it. It's time to move south!!! :lmao:

Anyway, I've got applesauce chicken in the crockpot, I've made it before and really loved how it came out. I make the applesauce from scratch, so it's a bit heartier than store bought, and makes for a nice main dish.

We actually didn't get anything terribly exciting, a Scooby Doo DVD Nemo hasn't seen yet, Lemony Snickey (because none of us have seen it), and Inkheart.

So far though, we're watching a whole bunch of Food Network shows like the Next Great Baker and Cupcake Wars. Nemo and I love these, we go nuts. So all in all, it's a good snow day!

I can tell we are all going a little loopy because Charles said to me this morning, "So, I heard a snippet of It's a Small World in the car the other day, and I think I will be able to ride it this summer." That's a sure sign of cabin fever as far as I am concerned. Freaked me out worse than if I had been Shelly Duvall in The Shining. :rotfl2:

:rotfl::rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2:

That is SO funny I almost spewed my (cold) coffee!

Loved the FB updates but I MUST have the recipe for the doughnut muffins. Please please pretty please?

I thought of you yesterday while I was at O'Hare waiting for my luggage to then wade through customs and they showed on the news, someone ice skating down Peachtree!

Literally. On ice skates.

It just figures you have snow days when you don't want them!!! At least you have been enjoying it all! We got some snow yesterday, but you still have more than us, which is a bit craZy!

Were you out again today? (sorry if you already answered this in the chatter-I breezed through it in attempts to catch up!)

You are going to post the recipe for the muffins, right?!?!?!? :hyper:

We are leaving June 2 -- do our parks overlap at all?

We'll be at the MK on May 31 and then after we go to HDDR we're planning on going to the Poly to watch the fireworks from there. On June 1 we'll be at DTD and Epcot. Does any of that work?

I do hope you have better luck with the snow chant because it really had the opposite effect for me. The official count was six inches for our town.

Well the chant didn't work, we got over a foot :( At least I got a snow day from work!! Did your schools close for tomorrow, too?

Jackie what are the chances of them counting the snow days as your furlough days? Also I know when I taught the state would forgive up to 5 snow days. We would wish for 4 days of snow each year.

I also downloaded the Kingdom Keepers and Small World will never be the same. I might need to ask MeMom to have the Dis meet at another ride. I am also not sure about the pirates.

That's the very reason I won't read the Kingdom Keepers books! :scared1:
If you can't do Small World, you can join us on the Carrousel. Is that safe? ;)

Okay crossing my fingers you go back to school tomorrow, wow three days??!! That happened to us of course a few times last year, but we have 5 days built in. And ALAS, we did NOT use one today...:headache: but we got a two hour delay out of it... so that was at least something... so dang cold! BRRRRR... two nutty boys playing in the snow from 4 - 5:30 tonight, I had to drag them inside for dinner!!! They didn't get to earlier. I hope no one gets sick... Griffin was not pleased that the snow plow had been by in the night and scraped it away... Anyhow it is only mid January... we have had snow and snow days into February, but here is hoping you are done for the season... Going to try those donut muffins next weekend btw, so thank you for the recipe!!! :thumbsup2 I loved the "bakery" comment too! FUNNY!

I just ordered the third book in the Kingdom Keepers series. Great books! But I also think about them when I am at the parks.

Oh great, I have all the books and haven't read them yet. What should I do....

Noooooooooooo!

That's about what the kids ended up being bundled in except for the snow pants. My mom took us to Buffalo and Niagara Falls in January of 1991. It was -18 at the Falls and I have never been so cold! I don't know how you do it all winter! :sad2:

It's not usually that cold. Wow!!! It's been in the 20's for the past few weeks. It's cold, but we're used to it. My DD gets to go outside everyday at school and she loves it! Me, not so much. I like staying inside.

That's the very reason I won't read the Kingdom Keepers books! :scared1:

I promise to be brave, and ride Small World, but I am keeping an eye on the dolls and not riding on the outside. I am about finished with book one and might to lured into downloading book 2. Being snowbound since Sunday, boredom has set in. There is just so many clothes you can wash and floors you can clean. There is not a speck of dust in my house.

I might possibly laugh at you and try to freak you out in some way.

And I promise never to read a Kingdom Keepers book. ::yes::

I have plenty of dust left in my house. Dusting is my least favorite chore, actually. I don't mind laundry or dishes (no dishwasher) or tub scrubbing or fridge cleaning, but the dust bunnies on the blinds and ceiling fans have pretty much made themselves at home. I send them scattering once in a blue moon. They seem to always come back, though. ;)

*************

CP, hope you are having a productive day at school. It should be a nice way to transition back into the work world. I always like it when we have a teacher day after a long break before kids come back.

So, it looks like we'll have at least one day overlap on Disney trips this year! We're 99% sure we're heading down June 1 - June 8 :goodvibes

Awesome!!! Do you know where you are going to stay yet?

I love Chelsea's emergency box!
Hogwarts is amazing. I think my nephew may be getting one this weekend for his 7th birthday.

Lego is also releasing Diagon Alley this month -- I think Connor might need that one, too. ;)

That layer of ice is scary! And on the roads, it's worse. No wonder school has been closed. Is the ice melting at all? Are you going to have to make up these snow days? I hope not. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

The ice is slowly melting during the day, but the nighttime lows are making everything freeze again. It feels like it's been around forever!

It snowed here last night and this morning. But our school (a university-based lab school) follows the NYC Department of Ed schedule regarding school closings. Our brilliant mayor decided to open school even though most teachers, including me, live in the outer boroughs on streets that have yet to be plowed. I  my street. It's quiet and out of the way. But, the plows often forget about us.

That stinks! Did you make it to school okay? Staff reported here today, but not the students. We are waiting to hear what tomorrow will be like.

Hey Jackie! I was just curious as to how your trip binder is going? I just started mine yesterday! I'm going to post pics later today on my pre-trip report!

I finished my trip binder this morning! :thumbsup2 I am headed over to your PTR this afternoon.

Too bad about the snow day, but I am glad the doughnuts were a hit! :goodvibes

My little town of 23,000 people has more plows than that!!

Your public works budget is probably all used up for 2011 already!!

Well, considering we have not had a snow storm like this in the 17 years that I have lived here, it probably doesn't make sense to invest in a bunch of snow plows. Usually when we get snow or ice, it is gone by the next day.

:lmao:

With the house market as depressed as it is down here, you could probably get a huge house for a very affordable price. Come on down!

Anyway, I've got applesauce chicken in the crockpot, I've made it before and really loved how it came out. I make the applesauce from scratch, so it's a bit heartier than store bought, and makes for a nice main dish.

Yum! I need that recipe!

Chelsea and I love watching Cupcake Wars! :lmao:

:rotfl::rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2:

That is SO funny I almost spewed my (cold) coffee!

I take that as a high compliment. :goodvibes

Loved the FB updates but I MUST have the recipe for the doughnut muffins. Please please pretty please?

It is super easy. Here is the recipe:

Doughnut Muffins

I thought of you yesterday while I was at O'Hare waiting for my luggage to then wade through customs and they showed on the news, someone ice skating down Peachtree!

Literally. On ice skates.

:rotfl: People react very strangely to snow and ice here in Atlanta.

It just figures you have snow days when you don't want them!!! At least you have been enjoying it all! We got some snow yesterday, but you still have more than us, which is a bit craZy!

That is crazy! I never thought I would see the day when Atlanta has more snow than NYC.

Were you out again today? (sorry if you already answered this in the chatter-I breezed through it in attempts to catch up!)

We were out yesterday, but staff reported today. As you can see, I am being super productive. LOL!

You are going to post the recipe for the muffins, right?!?!?!? :hyper:

Here you go:

Doughnut Muffins

We'll be at the MK on May 31 and then after we go to HDDR we're planning on going to the Poly to watch the fireworks from there. On June 1 we'll be at DTD and Epcot. Does any of that work?

On June 1, I am planning on doing our shopping at DTD -- we could plan to meet up there. :thumbsup2

Well the chant didn't work, we got over a foot :( At least I got a snow day from work!! Did your schools close for tomorrow, too?

Yikes! Staff reported today. We are waiting to hear if students are coming or not tomorrow.

Jackie what are the chances of them counting the snow days as your furlough days? Also I know when I taught the state would forgive up to 5 snow days. We would wish for 4 days of snow each year.

Unfortunately, our super already built furlough days into the calendar, so I am not sure what will happen. :confused3

I also downloaded the Kingdom Keepers and Small World will never be the same. I might need to ask MeMom to have the Dis meet at another ride. I am also not sure about the pirates.

:lmao:

That's the very reason I won't read the Kingdom Keepers books! :scared1:
If you can't do Small World, you can join us on the Carrousel. Is that safe? ;)

Oh, you should, MeMom. If Connor can handle them, so can you! :goodvibes

Okay crossing my fingers you go back to school tomorrow, wow three days??!! That happened to us of course a few times last year, but we have 5 days built in. And ALAS, we did NOT use one today...:headache: but we got a two hour delay out of it... so that was at least something... so dang cold! Kids have such a higher tolerance for the cold than we do, I think. I had to tell my two to come in the other night, they were having so much fun in the snow. They were adequately bundled except for their faces, and I was worried they would get frostbite on their noses. I told them being noseless was not a good look, and Chelsea replied, "Well, it works for Voldemort." :rotfl:

I do hope we are finished with the snow. We reported to school today, but the kids stayed home. We are all waiting to see what tomorrow brings.

I just ordered the third book in the Kingdom Keepers series. Great books! But I also think about them when I am at the parks.

Me too! We have all enjoyed them at our house, but it does make you want to say, "Remember in The Kingdom Keepers when..." while you are in the parks.

Oh great, I have all the books and haven't read them yet. What should I do....

Read them! :thumbsup2

Noooooooooooo!

5.gif

Now, now, MeMom. I think you and Anita need to read them. ;)

Oh my gosh!

They will make the perfect travel reading. LOL!

It's not usually that cold. Wow!!! It's been in the 20's for the past few weeks. It's cold, but we're used to it. My DD gets to go outside everyday at school and she loves it! Me, not so much. I like staying inside.

I prefer being inside, too, if the temperature is below 60 degrees. :lmao:

I promise to be brave, and ride Small World, but I am keeping an eye on the dolls and not riding on the outside. I am about finished with book two and might to lured into downloading book 2. Being snowbound since Sunday, boredom has set in. There is just so many clothes you can wash and floors you can clean. There is not a speck of dust in my house.

:lmao: I cleaned this weekend before the snow hit, so there hasn't been a lot to do -- I guess that's why we have played a lot of games, read a lot of books, and baked a lot of food. I did start scrapbooking yesterday and actually managed to finish three layouts. I was so proud of myself.

I might possibly laugh at you and try to freak you out in some way.

And I promise never to read a Kingdom Keepers book. ::yes::

Never say never!

I like dusting, but I don't like tub scrubbing or fridge cleaning. Maybe when we move to DIS town, we can start a cleaning co-op. :thumbsup2

Well, you can see how productive a day I am actually having. The problem is that I had a feeling we would be out on Monday, and I knew I was planning on taking a halfday on Tuesday for Chelsea's orthodontist appointment, so I was super organized and ready for this week. Now, I have very little to do. :rolleyes1
