I don't even own one, but I can't figure out why people hate them so much. We're at Disney every weekend and I've never seen someone hit by one nor have they ever bothered me. I just see people having fun taking fun pics of their family all at once.
I find it hard to believe that they're going to escort each person with one to guest services. Seems over kill and silly to me but I'm sure many people will quote me and tell me wrong I am. lol
Until it's officially announced by Disney/or announced on the hubb. (cast website) don't assume it's true.
If you can't figure out why people hate them so much, take a look at the photo provided in post #24. You may have never seen such behavior, but it is happening and it is growing. Parades and fireworks shows are teeming with selfie sticks (and i-Pads) that range from an interference all the way to ruination of other peoples' views. They are a physical manifestation of the "my vacation is more important than your vacation" attitude that is growing like a cancer. "I don't care if your view is blocked so long as I get my perfect shot to upload to my 17 social media outlets." If you haven't seen such behavior it can only be because you aren't looking.I don't even own one, but I can't figure out why people hate them so much. ... I've never understood the need to take photographs of yourself constantly. Seems a bit self absorbed to me.

Walt Disney World is banning selfie-sticks from its theme parks, citing safety concerns, a company spokeswoman said Friday morning. Under a new policy, which takes effect Tuesday, the poles won’t make it past the bag check at any Disney World theme park. The sticks also won't be allowed in Disney World water parks or DisneyQuest, a gaming attraction at Downtown Disney.
Disney has officially added the selfie stick to the list of items not permitted inside its U.S. theme parks, the company confirmed on Friday.
