Season 7 of 'The Next Food Network Star' stars tonight at 9pm!

Penny and Chris are the 2 I'd like to see go now. Has anyone watched Dessert First??? Its a really great show and the hostess Ann Richards is such a doll and real. I hope they keep it on its been on for 2 seasons now. I love to bake and her recipes are awesome and she makes it easy to try.

I did! I did! I was a little surprised at who went home tonight.

Penny can't leave soon enough for me!

I agree with the eliminations, but one was definitely a surprise!

I felt bad for Jyll when Wolfgang gave her the cooking lesson. It was mortifying and awkward. I didn't agree with Suzy and Giada saying that they wanted her to show some emotion when she came back. I think the fact that she was able to keep her composure says a lot more! I would not have came back out!

I have lost any respect I ever had for Wolfgang Puck. That was obnoxious and he was so pleased with himself. I'm curious to what was going through Bobby Flay's head, because his expletive was shown twice (for me it's an expletive... it bugs the heck out of me) and the look of shock on Bob's face was obvious, too.

I also disagreed with Susie and Giada. Jyll showed emotion when it was appropriate to show emotion and I think she handled herself beautifully. She was incredibly gracious to WP and I don't think he deserved it.

Go Whitney :cool1:

I agree with both of these. Jyll was able to smile when I'm sure she just wanted to run away in tears. That shows extreme maturity and composure, ability to handle pressure. Can you imagine what Giada would have said if Jyll had broken down sobbing when Wolfgang gave her the cooking lesson? She would have berated Jyll for letting her emotions show, that if she's going to be a star she has to be able to gracefully handle any situation that comes her way.

DH and I both said "FINALLY!!!" when they let Penny go. Like one of others (Vic??) said - all the drama is gone, now the real contenders are left.

I agree, Jyll handled herself very well. Better than I would have. I knew she was in trouble though because of too many seasons of Top Chef. If I have learned anything its never make risotto and dessert, those are always the dishes that get sent home!

I knew one was going to be sent home and was really surprised at the other one, I figured they would be kept around because of the drama factor.

I think it may have been Jeff who made the comment, but I agree 100%!!!

I understand why Jyll was upset, but I still have respect for Puck and for Jyll. I took it another way: he wouldn't have gone into the kitchen if he didn't respect what she had done and believed that she could learn & do better. He didn't bother to show Chris how to make his cake better because it would have been a waste of time! He doesn't bother with untalented people.

It's like I told my daughter when her teacher kept making corrections in dance: "She wouldn't have bothered if she didn't think you can do it, and if she didn't see potential in you. It's the kids who never get corrections who should be worried!"

Glad the elimination went as it did. Didn't know when it was going to happen, but knew that they wouldn't have cut the episodes the way they did to make Penny look like Malificent if she had won.

I agree. Wasn't one of their comments to someone last night or earlier that you have to be able to take criticism? Did they want Jyll to burst into tears of embarrassment so they could critique her on that instead?

She didn't make a risotto. I knew that when she was talking about 'dry'. Yes, the whole experience was awkward, but now she knows how.

I was incredibly happy to see Chris and Penny leave last night.

Yeah I don't know that I agree with Wolfgang getting up in the middle of the meal like that. Maybe offering to show her how he does it after the meal would have been better

Exactly. Getting up in the middle of the dinner party (even if it was part of a competition) to show somone the right way to make something was rude to Jyll, was rude to the other contestants, and was rude to the people he was dining with.

I'm starting to think Vic may win.

Unless he screws up badly and consistently, I'm fairly confident that Vic is going to win.

Highlight of the show -- Penny going home. I would never have watched her show if she had won.

:cool1:

I was surprised Penny went home because her food is consistently good or excellent - except that burnt mac & cheese ;). Surprising they said Mary Beth never had a good dish, when her meatloaf on that same challenge impressed Paula Deen so much she's going to start using Mary Beth's ingredients.

I think Penny left and Jyll stayed in part because of Penny's horrible presentation "skills", but also because Jyll did keep her cool in what was obviously an embarrassing on-screen moment. You can't let yourself get flustered when something goes wrong... even that wrong...

I like Vic, but I doubt I'd watch his show. I like all of the ones who are left, but not that much that I'd watch them. Well, maybe I'd watch Mary Beth. Maybe.

Wrong. You will watch Vic or Jeff when they win, and you will like the show!!!

You just don't realize it yet :rotfl2:

I cheered out loud when penny was eliminated :woohoo: A little extra dose of satisfaction was added with her obvious shock that she was sent home. Yes...her food may have been good but she's been told for weeks that nobody wants to work with someone who is nasty.
